This AC was super easy to install and use, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a window AC unit. The ability to control it from the app on my phone was an added plus!

The unit (2022)

The unit manufactured on 2020, the 8k BTU has the problem that changed the settings by itself. I followed the instructions given the manufacturer but without success.

Great price, easy to install with clear instructions. Very easy to use.

Early thoughts

This is for the 8k BTU version. It's well packaged, has easy to follow instructions, and is a sleek looking unit. It is heavy, the instructions suggest 2 people to lift into place, I was able to manage myself, might be something for some folks to consider. I can't speak to it's performance too much, as I've just installed it. It is quiet, and produces plenty of cold air. It does seem to produce a low pitched rumble, almost like a vehicle idling. I don't think it's a big issue, could be likened to white noise.

Windmill A/C…Pro vs Amateurs

You can’t rank Windmill Air vs anything out in the market….why?….you can’t rank a pro vs all the amateurs! This company has got it together! From my perspective they are not totally perfect…but very close. I will focus on two, very small issues. The first installation step calls for the application of an adhesive insulation strip applied to the bottom edge of the window that closes down on the air conditioner after it is placed in the window…the sticky side of the strip is so sticky that it adhered to my fingers…trying to get it off of my finger ripped the installation strip in multiple places. wherever it was touched by my fingers. First cut the strip to size, then peel back an inch of the paper from the sticky strip, apply it to the bottom of your window and then peel it a little at a time and don’t touch the sticky part. The second challenge was connecting the A/C to my Wi-Fi network. You first have to connect the app to your phone (the Windmill Wi-Fi network) in your settings after pushing the A/C WiFi button on the A/C. Then go back in to your settings, and select your home wifi network! I would rank this A/C 100 out of 10!

I love the style of the air conditioner. It’s very efficient cools off the living room and dining room kitchen area very quickly. I have an open floor plan I assumed I needed 2 but one probably would’ve done the job. I’m very pleased with my purchase. Sorry I waited so long never thought I would like window units, considering my windows are new, but this was more affordable than central air

Very quiet and easy to operate!

Disappointing AC unit

I really wanted to love this AC unit - I bought it because it was supposed to be quiet, energy efficient, and easy to install. It is efficient and easy to install, but is incredibly loud (to the point where I took a video and sent it to customer service, who replaced it with a unit that is equally loud). The temperature gauge is also very off and does not match the thermostat in the room, so instead of setting a temp and leaving it, I feel like I am constantly managing it. Ultimately, I wouldn't recommend the Windmill AC. I wish I'd bought the Midea U-shaped AC that I was deciding between instead - I have a friend with that one and it is much, much quieter and doesn't have the temperature issues that this one does.

Love my Windmill Air Conditioner

The windmill air conditioner I purchased is used in my bedroom. I love the app and the ability to set it to turn on just before I go to bed nightly. It’s quiet and clean. Next time I need one for another room I will be purchasing a Windmill.

Very loud

I had this installed in my mobile home. Unfortunately the compressor is very loud & the side panels let bugs in. It does cool well.For the price I expected more.

Multiple issues occured within 30 days of purchase and had to return it twice (creation of ice, off sound coming out of it in the middle of the night). It is also not as quiet as I thought

I love this AC with fan and eco mode. It has a modern look and is very quiet. I even bought a second one for another room. It cools the room very well, highly recommend!

Thermometer not reliable

The AC overall works good, and estheticly looks pleasing. But the temperature is not, I would put it on auto, so when the t’ is at desired place to stop, and its insane how bad it is, I have two other thermometers in the room just to know the real temperature. I would put AC at 70’, AC reads the t’ of the room 68’ and will not start, cuz its already lower than it read, and the actual t of the room is 76.5 There is a whole reddit discussions about. Its a very common issue that they can’t fix?

Im not happy for some reason after a year of course when the warranty is over started acting up now is beeping all the time changes temp by it self and even when its off it beeps im aggravated after spending almost 300 its very hot this summer very upset

So far it been great.

Item was delayed by 2 days than the scheduled date but the product is great. AC keeps the area cool and I plan to by another unit to add to the house.

DO NOT BUY

This AC unit has not stopped loudly beeping for weeks even when it is off. It auto adjusts itself to be 86 degrees in my already hot sun filled bedroom. The customer support offered by windmill is $100 towards a new machine which is awful given the defective AC units they are selling. Avoid.

It’s okay…

I like the app and the look of the unit. However, we have found the thermometer somewhat inconsistent and the placement of the vents at the top rather than the front has resulted in us feeling the cooling effects a bit less than our previous machine.

Quiet! And love the wifi!

I love this unit. I purchased a different brand that I returned immediately because it was so loud. I hesitated to buy this one because I hadn't heard of this brand, and I'm so glad I did! It's very quiet. It's efficient. The wifi link is amazing! I went on vacation during a summer heat wave and left my kitty in my house with a neighbor checking on him. I was able to track the temperature in that room and turn the AC on or off using my phone while I was hundreds of miles away! I love it!
