[Rewarded Review] Should have bought one of these long ago.

We love the Mighty Mule gate opener. No more getting out of the car to open or close the gate. We had a few issues when installing it. We found out for hooking up the battery, we needed an adaptor that is only available in the battery kit MMB200. The kit also includes the waterproof box that two batteries can fit in. We already had bought a battery so we put both in the box. (Very tight fit) In the final step of setting the stops for opening and closing - we had to call Mighty Mule. Great support. We had to detach arm from gate, push a button in the control box so the arm could fully retract. Then hook it back on the gate and reset the stops. It works perfect! I highly recommend this product.

No attachment bracket for round tube gate.

The brackets to attach the arm to the gate are designed for gates with a flat surface. My gate is made of round pipe. Since no brackets for round surface mounting were included, I had to take the gate off it's hinges and have the bracket welded on. Other brands include brackets for gates constructed of square or rectangular material, as well as those made of round tubing. A lot more work to install for lack of a cheap part that could have easily been included.

[Rewarded Review] Good Gate Opener

MMW371 Single gate opener. Works well, takes a bit of time to install. Requires leveling the gate arm with adjustments, and ensure gate post is level and strong enough to support the gate. The recommended "Bilt" app was awesome! It provides detailed installation instructions. We hard-wired for plug-in, but still needed to install a 12v lawnmower battery and protective case (not included). Really not sure why needed both power sources. Not difficult to install, just lots of time completing each step. This is our second Mighty Mule gate opener, previous one lasted 3 years.

Gate opener is excellent quality, and after I figured out instructions, worked perfectly. Was a little surprised that blue tooth opening capability required another $200 part. Instructions regarding dip switches could have been clearer. But, alll in all, the gate opener has made it a joy to drive into backyard again. 👍😇👍

Complete Garbage Product

Fortunately I purchased the 2 year TSC replacement plan. The mighty mule is garbage. I have had two units fail in 2 years. One failure was electronic related and the other failure was in the control arm. We are getting about one year of life out of the gate opener. The TSC extended warranty has been great. If i can no longer use the TSC warranty. I will never purchase this junk again. I'd encourage TSC to drop this manufacture and pickup a more reliable gate opener manufacture. Also if you have to deal with mighty mule directly for issues, there service is a useless as there product.

Complete JUNK!

Complete junk. Do not waste your valuable money or time. The complete system will end up being upward of eight hundred dollars and you will waste days and days on the phone with tech support only to be told to buy more junk to add to it. Tech support isn’t very techy on their own products and many and a multitude of the ones I talked to couldn’t understand me and I sure couldn’t understand them. Let me pains, waste and struggle be your gain or prepare for the worst. It is a sexy idea but trust me just do not do it! To top it off a dog can push it open, heck the wind can blow it open ha! Buy the lock they said. I don’t even need to start about the lock.

great product if you want to open inward on level hard ground or concrete. comes with instructions but may parts are vague or incomplete.

[Rewarded Review] Smart gate operator

The operator was easy enough to install, the wiring is straight forward on the operator. Accessory wiring is a bit more complicated like the solar panel and gate lock. We called tech support and after a few minute wait we talked to a very knowledgeable support person. We also did the smart controller connected to the wifi, found out we have full control across the internet as well as gate status being opened/closed. We get real time alerts when the gate is opened/closed as well which is great.

[Rewarded Review] 25 days after install, I’m having issues with it.

I installed this unit on 4/1/24 and everything was operating fine. Today, there appeared to be a glitch in the mechanical operator as it only opened the gate half way and then it wouldn’t close either. When I got out of my truck to investigate, it sounded like grinding gears on the inside of the housing. I’m going to have investigate more when I have time tomorrow but it shouldn’t be doing this. I’ve 100% installed this properly and it was definitely level.

Minor changes in design -

I was replacing a similar weight, 10 year old, Mighty Mule gate opener. What should have been a 30-60 minute job turned out to take half a day. 1) The opener arm was about 2" short therefore requiring the mounts be moved. 2) The control box itself is also a different dimension so fit where the old control box was located which creates an issue with already existing wires control wires. 3) There is no speed control as existed previously. 4) The manual supplied has conflicting information in the troubleshooting section and overall is poorly written with no complete board diagram. 5) The remote opener could not be programmed and therefore did not work - fortunately my older remotes could be programmed to work with the new control board. Now that the opener is installed it is working as expected except for the speed and all my older accessories still work.

Replaced existing Mighty Mule 360 opener with 371W. I love the new design of the control box (not being on the arm itself). Great instructions on plug-and-play the connections and programming limits.

Opener and control box seem durable. Instructions are well written and easy to follow. I opted for an automotive battary & added the mighty mule solar panel. This is my first automatic gate opener so i have no comparison on opening speed. Seems fairly quick.

Garbage

This product is garbage. Warranty is worthless because when the gate fails they want to “troubleshoot” the gate before they will send you a new part. How are you supposed to troubleshoot it when the main board doesn’t even power up. I tried multiple power sources and nothing. When you sell garbage you should expect to have a better replacement policy. Save yourself money and don’t buy this garbage.

[Rewarded Review] Plastic gears in arm

The are was purchased to replace an aging FM700. The new are was broken right out of the box. It has plastic gears in the arm instead of all metal like in the past. The control bix was wired wrong from the factory also. Connected MM cust. Service and they sent replacement. So far the replacement has functioned great. This opener is also faster then my old one.

I replaced my 7-8 year old unit with a new one. I didn’t expect it to be way better then the old one. After learning the code to one of 6 transmitters I had it new all the others. It slows to stop and start before it speeds up thru the rest of the range. The new circuit board allows most anything to connect, and now it’s smart! What does that mean? You can even control it with your smart phone now.

Warranty Service does not include much "service"

With the control board still being under warranty, tech support was helpful to troubleshoot and discover that the control board was defective not allowing the solar panel to sufficiently charge the battery. I purchased my third replacement battery before calling MM customer service to inquire why. A thorough diagnoses with tech support made the decision that the control board was defective. I am being asked to now disassemble a working unit, albeit defective, and send in the bad board, wait for them to process and return a new board, during which time I will have no working gate controller, and will have to go into the unit yet again, to install the new one. Very frustrated.

[Rewarded Review] Not all parts supported/available from Mighty Mule

MM371W medium swing gate opener. After over a year in operation, the gate locked open and the opener had to be physically removed to gain access to our property. Diagnosis of the operating arm showed that the linear control board was bad. Contacted MM and was told this board is not available as a part and I would need to replace the entire control arm. Really disappointed in this answer as it would be a simple and cheap fix. Too bad this product does not have an optical scanner board as they are cheap and easy to replace. Searching other manufacturers for a quality product and customer support.

Terrible instructions/worse customer service. :(

The instructions are awful and difficult to follow. Customer Service was NOT knowledgable in the least when I called!! The gate bracket for a tube gate is NOT INCLUDED. Ordering that held me up for quite some time, and it's expensive. And there is no tool list included, so it took up valuable time trying to figure out how to connect the nuts and bolts in such small spaces with no advice from instructions OR customer service as to what tools to use for this! I had to watch numerous youtube videos to figure this whole thing out, as the TSC video skims over so many important steps about how to actually install the brackets on a tube gate and which tools etc! I would never buy this again. I expected better, TSC. Sorry, but it's true. :(

Hit or Miss

I own 2 of these gate openers. I have 2 gates on my property and bought both at same time and installed both the same exact way. Why do I have compete satisfaction with one and not the other? I have had serious issues with one of my openers and have made numerous calls to the tech line. Sometimes the tech help people are great and then sometimes I figure out the problem myself. And then.... the gate seems to work fine until here we go again it doesn't. Right now the arm is not attached to my gate because I was trouble shooting it & it is extended out spinning around 360 degrees because the screw worm keeps spinning. I will probably buy another opener and start over. This will be my 3rd unit just for this one gate. If I didnt have my other 'good' gate working daily with no problems I would probably not buy another. But I know how much I love the one gate opener and I just want to have the other one working the same way.

Buy Some Other Gate Opener - Not this one

Ok, so let's start with how much you will be spending on a gate and opener. Buying a 6X6 post, gate, Marine Deep Cycle battery, solar panel, and two remotes - you will be spending a chunk of money.
