Terrible customer service ! Defective parts!

This greenhouse looks great on paper, but it has been a huge disappointment! The instructions are not complete. The parts are poorly labeled. We called the helpline only to be told that we were wrong, and the greenhouse was fine. The doors do not fit right even with adjustments. There is no way to close the doors and there are no instructions in the manual to help. Two qualified men assembled the greenhouse only to find the problem with the doors at the end, because that is the last step in the manual. The purpose for the greenhouse is to protect fragile plants from the cold, but with no doors it is useless! It is definitely not worth the price!

Monticello Greenhouse

Awesome greenhouse. Looks gorgeous in my backyard. I ordered 12x8, with the work table. Also excellent quality. I had the unit placed on a concrete slab. It was still standing after a 60 mile per hour wind storm . However the vent windows were damaged, but repairable. My carpenter had it up in 1.5 days without any help. I am very happy with my purchase. My only regret was that I did not buy a larger unit.

Don’t buy this

What should I say? Don’t buy this. Your better off building a green house out of windows and doors than buying this junk. Putting this together take a rocket science. Everything about this green house is crap. Not happy with my purchase. The price doesn’t make up to this POJ. Also Home Depot over charges for everything even though lumber prices have come. They sale crap wood for high prices.

Perfect starter size green house. Took my husband and I about 2 days to assemble. Instructions were basic- QR codes to more info were helpful. We used pavers as a base. Had all the pieces we needed. We broke the hydraulic for the window trying to put it together so be careful and be patient while assembling! It has been up a few weeks and survived thunderstorms and strong winds so far!

Solid Greenhouse, speedy delivery

Arrived in a week! That alone, gives it 5 stars! Greenhouse goes together better with at least 3 people (the 3rd person is reading the directions), That eliminates wasted time by having to stop and to see what to do next. Product is solid, polycarbonate windows are thick. Wish I would have ordered it sooner. I ordered the 8x12. Perfect size! Plenty of room, plenty of Sun!

Check for other manufacturers first.

Very poor design. No manufacturing tolerance specs were taken into consideration; no CAD verification. Lots of parts won't fit without modification of something. Base screw placement was horrible, and caused a WHOLE lot of pain. Wouldn't recommend. I was an engineer by trade, and I would have had the engineer who 'designed' this to put one together by himself, in a breeze. Nearly impossible.

Quality product but not beginners

Do yourself a favor and replace as many tee bolts as possible with regular hex head bolts. Other than that it’s a very sturdy greenhouse when fully assembled. Door hinges need to be improved so they fold all the way back. I modified mine with stainless piano hinges to do that.

Worth the investment. It's gorgeous and sturdy!

I got this during a great sale and had it shipped to my fiancee's home. We spent a weekend working leisurely on it and it's SUCH a great, quality product, especially for the price. I'm thrilled with it and very happy I didn't go with the "cheap" model because this one, for the minimal difference in price, is a sturdy unit that will last a long time. I think the size is perfect for a starter greenhouse or a hobbyist, as well. The instructions were crystal clear, but I also used reddit's greenhouse community and youtube videos to help with little tips like using clear silicone on the edges, etc.

Monticello Hobby Greenhouse

It took us a while to post this review and we are at about 99% complete so I'll post now. Both Tractor Supply's and Riverstone Industries' (the builder of the Monticello Kit) performance have been stellar to this point. Our assembly area is elevated 14ft up on a deck and the wind has been pretty bad through the assembly process. We had to build special wall supports to keep the walls from blowing over during assembly but once the end wall and roof parts went on this structure became very steady. All in all it's taken about 6 days to assemble due to the access and wind difficulties. It should take less than 3 days on a site with good access and no wind. TSC shipped immediately and we had the hot house very quickly- shipment tracking was very good. As a product the Monticello Hobby Greenhouse is a solid, American Made structure which has survived our windy environment with ease so far. When we display to neighbors I have them lean on a corner and everyone is surprised how solid it is. As far as customer service goes, we were short one large panel and a few other parts but Riverstone Industries responded immediately and without too many qualification questions. We highly recommend this product to those looking for a solid greenhouse- remember as you are looking- you get what you pay for.

Bad idea

Not so good. We are experienced DIYers and had a very difficult time with the instructions. The 'patented Tbolts' like to slip out of the grooves and the nuts break off. We had 40mph winds today and the sides collapsed. I'm going to build an inner frame to try to stabilize it. It's only been up for a couple weeks, doubtful it will last through spring.

Must have professional help with assembly

The greenhouse kit arrived a few weeks ago and I have had a real struggle with assembly. I finally found a contractor who is willing to help but has not started yet. I will update my review when completed. I contacted the manufacturer and they were very pleasant but could not provide me with local contractors. The reviews regarding Lowe’s contractors were not good, so I did not go down that path. This is certainly not a “do it yourself” project. So far I’m disappointed in my $3000 investment.

4 Stars

This greenhouse was much more challenging to assemble than the directions indicate. I cannot imagine assembling without help. We chose to pour a cement foundation versus the wood the directions recommend. There were some extra steps due to that. I would recommend reading through the complete assembly before getting started. Because we are in a wet location, we sealed the joins. 3 years later, I do not regret the extra time/effort. It is well built and looks fantastic!

5 Stars

We purchased this greenhouse in the middle of the winter, which made assembly a little more difficult. The staff at Monticello was wonderful and patient with us. They not only have us directions on what needed to be done, but also replaced a defective part very quickly. We got the greenhouse put to getter and then added running water and electricity. With the use of a small heater we have been harvesting veggies year round. We built an eight foot raised planter box, and addressed a sink making the greenhouse easy to maintain. Due to the double wall construction we have been able to keep the plants healthy and happy. It has held up well against major windstorms, and heavy snow fall... I happily and highly recommend this greenhouse.

Really 4.5 stars

This is a top of the line greenhouse; however it takes some serious concentration and work to assemble. We did have some confusion in the beginning assembly due to a change in construction not updated in the manual. We did call customer service twice, and received good support.

BEAUTIFUL AND DURABLE GREENHOUSE

WE PURCHASED THE GREENHOUSE THIS PAST FALL. WE HIRED SOMEONE TO SET IT UP WHICH TOOK A FEW DAYS AND WHEN IT WAS FINISHED IT LOOKED GREAT. THE FEEDBACK FROM TEH HANDYMAN WE HIRED WAS THAT IT WAS REALLY SMARTLY DESIGNED, THE BOLTS THAT ARE USED DO NOT ALWAYS STAY IN PLACE WHEN ASSEMBLING BUT ONCE YOU FIGURE OUT HOW TO LOCK IN PLACE THEY ARE GREAT. IT DID TAKE LONGER TO SET UP THAN PLANNED ALSO.

Well Designed

I purchased this greenhouse via in-store special order for several reasons. The 8-mm covering is twice as thick (better insulated) as comparable models. The item was advertised as expandable, allowing me to see the relative quality on a small model before deciding to invest in the final size required. The Monticello line is one of, if not the only line of greenhouse of this style to not require truck shipping, instead arriving Fed-ex. This feature may not be important to all, but allows for delivery to locations not easily accessible by tractor trailer. The estimated delivery time was advertised as unrealistically prompt (although, I admit skepticism on this point).
