Just Quit Working

I bought the lamp on sale for about $60 and it lasted just shy of 5 years. I loved this lamp and used it in my sewing room. Yesterday I went to turn it on and it does not light up. I hate that you can not buy replacements for the lights. It says it will last up to 40,000 hrs and I no way used that much. Very disappointed. It was great while it lasted.

Poor feature

My boss bought the floor lamp with excitement since it had a magnifying lense as well LED light for one of our patient's room. It did not last not even two weeks when the hand held part started to come apart from the base. It could not handle to constant movement. I must say it was a great product until it came apart. We had to trashed it.

Good lamp, except...

I had been using this floor lamp/magnifier for needlepointing. I began to notice that my eyes tired, my vision blurred, and my sleep patterns were off kilter. Some research indicated it is the brightness of the LED bulbs in this lamp. When I quizzed my ophthalmologist about this, she said it is the brightness and the blue light issue common to ultra-bright LEDs, and she said that even blue light filter glasses won't adequately address the problem. I no longer use the magnification unless absolutely necessary, and instead have the lamp over my shoulder, and pointed so that it does not shine directly on my work. It would be great if these lamps came with warm white bulbs instead. Were it not for this issue, which is threatening the health of my aging eyes, I would heartily recommend the lamp. As it stands, caveat emptor.

Great product if it would only last

I’ve bought 3 of these lamps over a period of a number of years because they all start break down. They are fantastic for crossstitching. My last purchase was Perhaps 2 years ago. There is a plastic housing that holds the light positioned and another at the base to adjust the positioning of the lamp (reaching out or back). Metal screws in plastic housing wear out the plastic which cause the lamp to not stay in place. Also the housing at the base has worn out. Will not stay in place any longer. Perhaps a metal housing with metal screws would solve the problem.

Lights died very quickly

I bought this lamp a couple of years ago but didn't det around to using it for a few months. When I unboxed it and set it up, the light was great, but after a couple of hours, I noticed it was dimmer than when I turned it on. It got progressively dimmer each time I used it, only 3 or 4 times. At this point, there were less than half of the bulbs that were lit up. I have since thrown it out as I hadn't kept any of the packaging or receipt. I'm very disappointed in this model, as my original floor lamps, purchased over 10 years ago, are still burning bright.

Nice lamp and magnifier

Easy to maneuver the lighted magnifier into place. Puts the light on my project while not shining in my eyes.

Disappointed

I bought a battery operated magnifying floor lamp 2 years ago and enjoyed using it. My daughter has it now and it appears that model is no longer available so I bought the floor/table model for myself. I am disappointed that it lacks the flexibility of the first lamp. I cannot get the magnifier over my cross stitch to comfortably work. It does not matter which chair I sit in; the magnifier is too high and won’t bend to position over my work.

Ottlite 2in 1 led magnifier floor and table lamp

Bought this lamp 10 years ago. It quit working. Don’t know if it can be repaired? I’ve ordered new lamp from Joann’s. Same model. Good value. I paid $70 back then. The replacement cost $83 from Joann’s. It’s being shipped to my home. I’ve used my Ottlie every day. I make quilts and being 77 years old this month I appreciate my daylight lamp with magnifier lense. I hope the new one lasts even longer. Don’t know if I can get the old one repaired? I recommend this product highly! Good purchase!

Great but could be brighter

Have been using for one week for paint by numbers. The dual magnifier works well. Like the heavy base so it’s not tippy when you move the magnifier arm around. Just wish the led lights were a bit brighter.

Great features!

Such a great lamp/light to have. We have an earring business and the magnifier on this light sure makes putting those earrings together much easier! It can be a stand lamp or desktop so convenient for us! Highly recommend.

A must have

I bought this light about a month ago and it’s awesome. I’ve had other magnifying lights but none can compare the light is bright and the magnifier lenses is huge and no shadows on your work piece

Ottlite 2 in 1 LED Magnifier floor & Table

This is a very useful magnifier lamp light. It has a flexible head, so you can adjust for your needs. The magnifier and led lights make it easy to read or work on something using both hands. It has a nice heavy base you can place it wherever you need it. Can be used as a floor size or change it into the table size.

Great light!

This light was super easy to assemble with great instructions. I love that the base is heavy, making it really sturdy. I do a lot of crafting and this is perfect for allowing me to see really well. The magnifier is really awesome as well!

Disappointed in the newer Ottlites

I bought this for my art and crafting but returned it and was disappointed by the quality. I was hoping since this was part of their wellness series i would feel better around it, but the LED light has a strong negative impact on me and makes me feel blinded and anxious. Also, the bulbs are built in and cannot be replaced... they're supposed to last up to 8 years, but sorry, that's just not acceptable in this time of overflowing waste. also the construction is really cheap feeling and the magnifying glass seems like it's plastic instead of glass. Ottlites used to be known for their high quality, now, not so much. I bought 3 different ones at the same time to see which style i would like, and returned all 3. Overpriced, cheap quality, environmentally irresponsible. Skip this one.

Height makes it completely useless

Both stem pieces are the same length and each has different fittings, so you have to use both, making it ridiculously tall when sitting on a couch and trying to see through the lens.

Good light and magnification

Light is good. I find the tiny magnifying lens within the larger magnifying glass too blurry for me to look through and therefore useless to me. I have assembled it into the floor lamp configuration. When I pick it up to move, it falls apart. The locking mechanism within the lamp's stem is poorly designed and it doesn't firmly lock in place. So to move it, one must pick it up below the joins. The base is heavy which means it won't fall over however one cannot slide the base underneath say a table or a couch because it is too thick.

piece of junk for the price

Not happy with this light and will be returning asap. the critical parts that attach are made of plastic. when placed on the floor the light doesn't stand high enough and despite having a gooseneck, it doesn't really have as much positioning flexibility as other goosenecks I've had. The whole white part does not bend, just the top part. It also is really ugly! why couldn't they have made the white part silver so it is of 1 piece instead of cheap looking white plastic. The magnifier, esp. the loupe is not good quality. I found this unusable. It also came with a scratched up base right out of the box. I have trouble with LED lights in general, finding them very uncomfortable to be around...they increase my anxiety. I had high hopes that this one would be different since it is in the "wellness" series and supposed to reduce eye strain. I only tried it out for less than 15 min, and now 15 min after I turned it off, my eyes still hurt, and oddly, i have a soft ringing in my ears I didn't have before i tried this light out. And then the icing on the Ottlites No Longer Good cake is that all their new models, including this one have a built in bulb that can't be replaced. It's supposed to last *up to 40,000 hours* but planned obsolescence is just not acceptable. Give me one good reason they couldn't have put all these features in a replaceable bulb that doesn't have to do with their profit. I don't care if it lasts 20 years....I have many antique lamps much older than that....for which i've replaced a cord or a switch, and mos def. a bulb and which continue to add beauty and light to my life. I hate this light.

A winner on the loading bench!

I purchased the OTTLite 2 in 1 LED magnifier for use on my reloading and gunsmith bench. I needed something that would allow me to see small parts, put extra light right where its need. The light is perfect in several aspects. The first is it is both a table and a floor lamp. The built in ring light provides good lighting for the viewing area and it its flex head allow you to put it into almost any position you need. Overall I think its a great product. I would give it five stars but there are two things I think that could use improvement. The first is the quality of the glass. Its good, but its not great. The second is the bifocal style magnifier within the magnifier. It's not very sharp and its difficult to get it into focus as the depth of field is very shallow. With a premium piece if glass I would give it a 5! For now lets settle on 4.5.
