American standard tub

The tub is perfect for me since I dont want to climb in one to take a shower, this one is not tall , just wish it had a brushed nickel trim kit not chrome

This is the sixth one of these is installed in our rental units. It has the overflow built right into the drain. It is a genius design. The waffle pattern stand for the base is also a genius design. This is a durable tub that will hold up for decades, I’ve had to put in a few substandard tubs because this wasn’t available and they had Styrofoam bases! I’m not kidding it was just ridiculous.

Absolutely Fantastic Design

I'm a landlord and this tub is an incredible design. It has a fabulous waffle support pad underneath made of metal not styrofoam. It's quiet, holds heat longer and best of all it has a built in overflow drain that flows right into the drain so the over flow cannot separate and flood out the apt.

Sturdy tub, easy installation and has the classic tub look.

The new tub design caused me to have to raise the tub platform 2 1/2” because the integral overflow channel caused the tub drain to be too low for the existing plumbing and that could not be changed. The tub replaced was an Americast as well but the overflow connected to its own pipe in the back of tub vs being integral. Had we known about the redesign we would have bought a different tub.

Wrong type of bathtub

This bath tube cannot be installed on a concrete foundation. It requires access from underneath to connect drain. Designed for installation where a crawl space or basement underneath for access to connect drain. Sales representative did not discuss the installation requirement. This tub had to be return and another model ordered and installed. Error cost me $75 for shipping of tub back to retailer.

Color description is not correct

It says the color is white…but it’s a creamy almond color… don’t buy this if you want a white tub.. looked white in all the pictures and our rep said it was white, but once installed against our white tiles, definitely not white. Now we css as it do anything about it. Such a disappointment.

Lightweight

Lightweight and durable alternative to cast iron. A little creaky sounding, possibly need more floor support in certain areas.

great tub at a fair price

I like a lot of things about this bathtub. The thick Americast layer is a very clever way to make the tub more rigid, quieter, and slower to lose heat. There are two great fearures not mentioned in the Lowes description. First, the overflow drain is incorporated in the Americast, so I didn’t have to buy a separate rough-in kit. Second, the package includes a beautifully made heavy bass drain with lift and twist stopper. So the only plumbing I had to buy was a 1-1/2” tailpiece. The form is classic. The dimensions are on spec. The packaging was excellent and protected it from damage in shipping. It’s certainly heavier than a plain steel/enamel tub but nowhere narly as heavy as cast iron. It feels substantial, does not flex, and looks good. I would recommend this tub to a friend.

Arrived one week after delivery. Bathtub was in new condition, no cracks. Contractor installed without issues. Good value.

Classic look and easy to install

Not too heavy hence easy for our installer to get the tubs we ordered in place without issue even for upstair bathrooms. Simple classic look just as what we wanted.
