Good performance so far

I've used this 2-sided 300/1000 stone with Trend Lapping Fluid to flatten the backs of several chisels (dovetail and bench chisels), and sharpen them using a honing guide, and have so far had very good results. Went straight from the 1000 to a leather strop and got quite good results. A finer stone after the 1000 might be preferred by some and might give a more mirrored finish, but I doubt if the chisel performance would be any better. The stone seems to be very flat and consistent. The grooves on the 300 side seem to help a lot when removing a lot of steel when flattening the backs of chisels.

What I wanted at a good competitive price.

I was looking for a particular quality product. In my research I found that Acme stocked, the particular quality product and noted most of their inventory was quality merchandise. Also, I found Acme’s head very competitive prices on their merchandise, so it was an easy trip to the checkout. They had what I wanted at a good competitive price.

A great diamond stone it cuts quick and is easy to clean. I find it superior to the other stones on the market.

Perfectly square

300 side is great to flatten the face of new chisels and make new angled bevels. The 1000 side does a nice job finishing it off. I'd like to get a couple higher grit ceramic stones to go along with this set. It's amazing how much dirt/metal shavings comes out of the plate when wiping it clean with the cleaning block!

It is the perfect foundation to a simple effective way to get sharp, flat chisels.

Rob Cosman does an excellent review of this stone on Youtube. Loosely following his method, I use the 300 grit side to flatten my 6000 grit Shapton and the 1000 grit side to do most of the work preparing chisels (although with a particularly hollowed chisel, starting with the 300 grit can speed things up considerably). It is easy to use. It is not too expensive. It is solid and sturdy, and sits well on the non-slip mat, so does not seem to need a stand or holder. I use it with the Trend sharpening fluid (I would get the big bottle if you have a lot of chisels to sharpen) and, to make things easier, a Veritas honing guide. I have not been doing this for long but now have a box full of chisels that really will cut through paper without tearing it. (I am sure it would work equally well with plane blades but this is not something I have tried). Using this sharpening stone has made me a big fan of Trend.

Great space saving stone

This stone is a welcome addition to my sharpening array. Quickly and efficiently performs coarse sharpening and preliminary fine honing. The double sided design saves space and is very handy. Overall great stone and very durable.
