Quality is good

Works great for tall ceilings

We installed this fan on an 18' downrod on a slanted ceiling. It comes with an 8" but you can purchase longer ones. Love the 3 speeds. High speed is great for tall ceilings. It has a reverse switch in the battery compartment on the back of the remote. My husband did not have difficulty installing it. It's a very sturdy fan with a heavy motor.

Great Fan

We purchased 2 new Progress Lighting fans for our new house. We have 2 of these same fans in our house at the coast and really like the size, look and operation so wanted them in our primary home as well. We didn’t even consider other brands or models.

Great fan, but pain to install.

The Fan looks very nice and run quietly and is a sturdy construction. However trying to fit the ball joint and the receiver for the remote into the ceiling bracket, which holds to all together, was clunky at best. The two items MUST fit together in the bracket but getting them in was very challenging and time consuming. The instructions were not helpful and it was not obvious how it to fit together. After much trial, I ended up making some 2mm rubber washers/spacers to give the remote receiver a little wiggle room. Once THAT was out of the way the assembly was not difficult and I'm very happy with the product. Better detailed instructions or a better designed mounting bracket to allow for fit would have really made this easier.

Have only had the fan a few weeks, so long term reliability is unknown, but it is very quiet and efficient at moving air in our vaulted ceiling. Would buy again if no unexpected issues come up.

Beautiful, Oversized and Whisper Quiet

This oversized fan fits right in in my living room with my oversized couch and my oversized dog! I love the unique look and even though it's a ceiling fan, it somehow cozies the very open room right up. I also love the amount of breeze it puts off while being completely silent. It was easy enough to install, although I will say the remote receiver mechanism install could be stream-lined a bit. This is the second progress lighting fan I've installed and I'm pretty handy but struggled to get the receiver in place on both units. In spite of that, I highly recommend this unique fan!

The design of the fan is very nice, clean and sharp. The fit and finish was not. Inconsistent seam sizes, gaps in the finish which leads me to wonder whether it will hold up outdoors.

This Progress Lighting, Caleb 68 in. indoor brushed nickel ceiling fan with remote is a very stylish and high quality fan. I found the modern look and large 68 inch blades fits my large bedroom well. I removed the older fan and following the instructions the instillation was very straight forward and took me just about a hour. I found the instructions well written and had good diagrams for the install. Always make sure that the ceiling electrical box is securely mounted to a ceiling joist with large screws as this fan weighs about 30 pounds. Once you physically mount the fan to the ceiling box you wire the power ( black and white wires ) to the remote receiver and then the three wires ( white, black and blue ) connect to the fan itself. Don’t forget to connect the green safety ground wire. The instructions also show how to install the optional lighting kit. The fan remote control transmitter is pared to the receiver using a code set by small dip switches which I find to be more reliable. The fans reverse switch is under the back battery cover on the remote control next to the dip switches. I found the fan to be very quiet and smooth running. The three speeds make the fan very convenient to get the correct amount of air movement. I did not have to balance the fan blades because even on the high speed my fan did not have any noticeable wobble and was well balanced. I am very pleased with how this fan functions and the build quality. This fan has a limited lifetime warranty.

One of the most beautiful fans I've seen. It's large, but so graceful it appears smaller. The blades are real wood and the nickel is real metal. It goes up easily, but be aware it is heavier than most fans. It will cool even very large rooms. A pity I have to give it only 4 stars for it's omissions. First it doesn't have a chain on-off-speed pull and can only be controlled by the remote. It also doesn't come with a light kit, which you would expect for this price. Finally, it cannot be flush mounted and only has an 8 inch down rod. For a large fan in 8 ft ceilings this makes a big difference. I had to cut the down rod in half and drill a new hole to raise it. But fix this stuff and it's a great fan. Worth the price.
