doesn't work as desribed
I purchased this along with the trim kit K-T37395-BN My plumber installed the drain and couldn't get the trim handle to rotate clockwise. It appears to be in the counter-clockwise turned position that allows you to remove the handle. We pushed in as instructed, but the handle wouldn't turn clockwise. I called Kohler and was advised to just turn it harder, it's a known issue being hard to turn. I couldn't turn it by hand and when I used a wrench the plastic stem of the handle broke. Something is wrong, it should not take extreme force to turn the handle. I don't know if it's "stuck", or just a defective product. Either way, it's a pain to remove and replace.
The flexible tubing is easier to work with. The enclosed directions are for slip joint unions which is not part of the rough in that I received. So be aware that you may have the type of product that requires each joint to be glued with pvc cement. Correct directions are available on the HD website product page: https://www.homedepot.com/p/KOHLER-PureFlo-Rough-In-Cable-Bath-Drain-in-White-K-37383-NA/204304145
Plumber had issues with the install as it is 3/4” larger than a standard drain and overflow . Finishes product looks great but also very expensive for the additional trim pieces needed.
Buy a tub that's doesn't need this specific setup
For 1 it's a rip-off. For 2 this is/looks like the same kind of flexible PVC the pool guys use for supplies and returns. For 3 the big question is why? It's a terrible design and adds over $150 extra cost to the cast iron Kohler mendota tub. These people are stealing money with this.
Difficult to install.
Difficult to install. There was no description as to how to glue the rubber hose to the grey PVC. Some description of the materials would have been better and then the appropriate glue would have been easier to find. Also the use of a flexible PVC hose is not a good design, as the hose is not flexible enough to fit on the Kohler tub very well.
Manufacturing Defect
Purchase 3 of these from 3 different retailers, the last one directly from Kohler. All 3 arrived with the back housing not properly fitted and cracked. It appears the Kohler has a manufacturing defect they need to address. This has caused over a weeks delay in my remodeling project. If my other Kohler products were not already installed, I would be returning them as well. They clearly have Quality Assurance issues.
Think twice....
Expensive for what it does. Poor design. Difficult installation! The delicate connecting cable is easy to bend or break. I hope it lasts! The "flexible" overflow hose is quite stiff and VERY difficult to align and achieve a permanent seal to my new Kohler tub! I will not use on my next remodel.
This was great! Super easy for my guy to install and attaching the coordinating trim was a breeze. So glad we went with the Kohler Pureflo system in the last bathroom reno. Would definitely use this again in the future.

The overall idea was great but their system just does not work either with push or rotary buttons. The installation instructions are very poor and some of the small parts in plastic are very low quality. Kohler should go back on the white board in order to make the system easy to install for any contractor or plumbing company !

What makes this drain assembly so awesome is that it is compatible with the PureFlo hardware which pretty much snaps right in. I will ding Kohler on the attachment points of that hardware, but that's for a different review. This drain assembly also doubles as a big telephone in make-believe play.

Weak directions, set screw is so small it’s not easy to use. No directions on how to remove cartridge once it’s set, just in case you need to make an adjustment. Works well but over engineered.

The part arrived nicely packed. I had to return it because it seems I had to buy other parts separately. That was going to be over $100 in just parts. I was unable to purchase everything separately.

This was a required separate purchase for the tub I purchased. It came with the parts needed, just not happy with the bulk of the drain or the flex pipe for the overflow. Especially at the price point.
Do not buy it.. Poor design, cheap materials
Very bad design.. The nut supposed to secure the flange just broke apart, while it was already tighten and haven't used it much. Very disappointed about Kohler. Lucky the product is still under warranty, thanks god. My advise: DO NOT buy it!!!!!!

This product was exactly as what I wanted. I wanted to get away from the traditional internal weight stopper. The price was right. I was able to easily install it on a Delta curve tub.
gasket failure
We installed this drain in a Kohler Bellwether tub in December 2015. Two weeks ago, the drain leaked into our kitchen on the first floor, and plumber needed to replace a faulty gasket. I contacted customer service to attempt to obtain a replacement gasket, bolt and cover for the drain (didnt need ANY of the rest of the drain, as it was in fine condition). Was told that as it was outside the 1 year warranty, Kohler could not send me any of these parts (which would seem to be maybe a few dollars at most of the price of the drain). Now i need to purchase an entire new drain assembly in order to replace a few dirt cheap parts.

I installed the Kohler pureflo drain in my new Kohler soaking tub. I was an easy install and functions flawlessly. The drain doesn't include the drain trim which is necessary. Once everything is installed and adjusted the tub holds water and drains the water as expected. This is a very nice finishing touch.

Very hard cove install for a non professional home owner. Recommendations! Do not use the flex pipe that comes with this assembly that goes between the overflow and the drain fitting. Use a hard pipe schedule 40 1.5". Do not follow instructions for measuring with a level. Use a square and you common sense. Use a Flexible Rubber Coupling with screw tight stainless steel Clamps between and below drain overflow pipe fitting short pipe and the pipe that goes down to the "P" trap.
[Rewarded Review] For use with Kohler Submerse Soaking tubs
This bath drain is the one recommended by Kohler for their Submerse Soaking tub. When my contractor looked at it (he's also a Master Plumber) he did not recommend using it because the drain mechanism is controlled by the attached cable and if there's an issue with the drain and you have to replace it, you have to tear apart the bathtub to put in a whole new drain unit.
[Rewarded Review] makes for a simple job
The PureFlo Rough-In Cable Bath Drain in White allows for seamless installation of a bathtub measuring 14-21 inches in depth. The trim can also be changed without access behind the tub which is a very convenient feature. The Overflow neck is also flexible allowing for easy installation at various angles. It also features a 30 inch external cable which minimizes the risks of clogging.
