Quality @ competitive price to meet the nutritional needs of my fur babies

As above. I would like to make the observation if more pet supply & pet insurance companies gave senior citizen discounts there would be a whole lot less dogs & cats in shelters that are waiting for euthanasia as well as less lonely, unfulfilled, & unloved older people. Financially speaking this will be my last two. Profit over humanity will get these companies only that.

Made my dog horribly sick

I was recommended this food to help my active husky gain weight as she struggled keeping weight on regular foods. I mixed it with her old food slowly per usual with new foods, but after getting to a 50/50 mix she started vomiting non-stop and having very liquid stools.

Greatest quality food.

I have two retired Grand Champion show dogs in my home. They were both started eating this food as soon as they came off puppy food. Their coats are beautifully shiny and their digestive systems are in great health. Only Purina can put the research and the supply line control into their food and produce this high quality. My new puppy coming next year will eat the same.

My dog needs this formula

My 14 month old Llewellyn setter was the runt of the litter and is tiny. Only 35 lbs. He was 6 months and 29 lbs when I got him. He needs this formula which contains the right amount of corn to keep him bound. I was skeptical when the breeder told me to use food with corn to keep him bound. I have tried other grains but what a mess! He had very loose poops. He eats it plain or with mix ins. He is very slim and energetic but happily he has finally put on some weight. It is his rocket fuel! This formula seems to have the highest calories of most foods I have researched. I carefully measure out 1 1/4 c, 2 x day for his intake which is higher than the recommended amount on the bag. I mix in some canned for flavor and that seems to fill him up. Eventually he will slow down and need less calories. I highly recommend it.

Sick dog

My dogs have been on this food for years and my Aussie out of no where started vomiting and having diarrhea and then suddenly refused to eat this specific food. She would eat anything else food wise but this food. After making a Facebook post several mutual friends recently had this similar issue. The bag was bought April 9th which seems to be around the time other people I know bought their bag and dogs had an aversion. Unfortunately I had to switch to a complete different brand of food. But on Chewy’s end delivery has always been great and service is great!

Disappointed

Everyone raves about how good pro plan is and I figured to try it since one of my huskies couldn't handle the canidae I had the other two on. While it does help with digestion in dogs with sensitive stomachs, it's made all of them really itchy. They love it and eat every bit (as well as the kitten haha) but my complaint is with their skin. Hopefully they address the issue and maybe we'll try again.

Dogs love it, I don't

My adult, very active, very muscular Jack Russell loves this stuff... Like fiends for it. It was recommended by our vet to help him maintain weight because he was struggling with how active he is. His coat is now dull, skin dry and itchy, and he just seems like something is missing. So he loves it, but I don't love the overall body condition. And there's a ton of corn in it. I'm not anti grain, but corn is a filler. Switching back to the old brand.

For skinny great dane

I have a great dane who eats all the time but has a fast metabolism. Vet recommended a higher protein diet. After doing some research about a good diet to have your dog gain weight, it said a 30% protein and 20% fat is what you should look for. The salmon and rice formula has the highest calorie count as well. After about 2 weeks of feeding this to my baby girl Iggy, you can't see her ribs anymore! She is gaining weight now and looks a lot healthier.

Not chicken free?

I switched to this from the chicken and rice because I suspect my dog has a chicken allergy. He likes this food (he’s a lab so that’s not saying much as he will eat anything) but I failed to realize this still has chicken liver in it. My bad for not reading carefully, but it’s frustrating that chicken is so hard to avoid in various kibble brands even when the main ingredient is fish. Itchy skin issues continued so we are going to try something else.

(Rewarded Review) Helped gain weight

We have 4 dogs in our house and they all eat different food due to their needs. Apollo, our biggest dog is over 7 now, so we switched him to the senior food, but because he is still so active, it didn't have enough calories in it to sustain him. We switched him to this blend and he gained his weight back and is maintaining. He also seems to have a mild chicken allergy, so the salmon is a better option for him. We love Purina products in our house!

My dog no longer likes after 1 yr

For some reason, the last bag of Purina Pro Plan Salmon is no longer satisfying my dog. He will not eat breakfast, and will wait until evening to eat when he's really hungry. It has been making him vomit and have loose stools, and he's lethargic, making me keep him home from doggie daycare. I bought the 33 lb. bag, so it's taking him forever to get through it. I am going to switch him over to Purina Pro Plan Essentials with pre and probiotics, and see if that is better, even though the Salmon High Preformance never bothered him before. If it doesn't work, then I'm done with Purina. It's not the 1st time I've had issues with them.

JUNK!

I’ve been feeding my dogs PPP for the last 6 months. They use to destroy the food, almost not even chewing it! Well, all of a sudden in the last two months, one of my dogs started skipping breakfast. Now I have to force him to finish his dinner. Now tonight he won’t eat his breakfast or dinner! Now to my second dog who will eat his bed he is always so hungry! First he wouldn’t finish his whole breakfast to now barely eating his breakfast and completely skipping dinners! I’m now having to kit their meals in half so they will eat breakfast and dinner a day! I have no clue what happen but hopefully chewy will work with me!

[Rewarded Review] Back to Purina Pro Plan

Although more expensive, Purina Pro Plan products are worth the money in the savings one receives from having dogs with healthy skin and coats. We were former customers of the Sport Line of dry food but left for about 2 years. Over that 2 years, our multiple Labs began having coat and skin issues; I tried supplement after supplement to bring back their healthy coats and suddenly, realized that the issues began after several months using another brand of dry food. Any savings I was seeing per bag was being used up in other ways.

Something Has Changed

Our 8-month-old puppy has eaten this exact formulation since he started eating food. Typically, he scarfed his food down so quickly that I bought him a slow-feeder bowl. Recently, he was highly put off by his food and would only eat it if I put something on it. I called Chewy wondering if there was a recall. There was not and Chewy was nice enough to send me another bag to see if something was off. That was not it. I stayed in touch with our breeder and I am in a Facebook group with other owners from the same breeder. 3 other dogs have experienced the same exact recent dislike and refusal for PPP Salmon and Rice. There must be a change in the formulation. I just purchased a bag of Fromm food (sadly not sold by Chewy) and our pup scarfed it down like the good ole days!

Huge improvement for my handsome senior dog!

Reese may not be as active and athletic as he used to be, but he is still a pretty fit senior. There have been lots of changes as he's aged, including losing hair on his tail and getting a bit thin.

[Rewarded Review] Just a thank You note.

I have 13 Westies. Some imported from Spain others from a German line. We had been using another line of food and had had high mortality rates at birth. We switched because of no chemicals in the food. My dogs are healthier IE: Hair, energy weight and overall looks. The mortality rate has also lowered and it is a direct link to the food. So thank You.

Made Our Dog Sick

I've been trying to find food that will work for our boxers. We like RC Boxer, but were hoping to find another food that wasn't so expensive. So I purchased two small bags of this hoping that would be enough food to determine if our pups liked it. The good part, they both seemed to enjoy the flavor, the bad part was one of our boxers started projectile vomiting within 30 minutes of eating the food. It was the only change and it happened so quickly. He vomited a total of eight more times before he finally stopped. This was after one feeding. Not sure if something was wrong with just this bag, it was sealed and didn't have any holes in it. But I won't be feeding the second bag either. I plan on contacting Purina directly as well. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this food.

Not too sure about it

My Australian Cattle Dog Mix needed to switch to salmon food due to ear infections since an allergy may have been the culprit. I'm really not sure about this one. We feed her to the amounts directed on the box and she wakes up in the middle of the night with her tummy rumbling and gagging/puking from hunger. She is a bit active (she goes on sprint marathons in the yard), but we had to opt for the performance since others were out of stock at the time. She also sniffs it with a questioning glance as if she doesn't really want to eat it and she is a dog that LOVES her meal time. Her poops are also super firm, so we needed to add some pumpkin puree or something to loosen up the stools.

Great food for active breeds

My German shorthair Pointer had been underweight for almost an entire year. After vet trips to check for worms or any other type of parasite we decided to go with a different food. We were using blue Buffalo which I thought was a very high quality food. My vet recommended Purina Pro Plan sport. since my GSP is very active. During hunting season, she logs about 100 miles a month based on her GPS tracker and even normally has about 2 hours of active training during the off season. Long story short this food added 10 pounds in about 6 weeks and she actually likes it which is an added benefit. She is still a leaner dog by nature, but she has a heartier build now.
