Poor reliability; easy to replace

The reviews are true. I am on my third of these units in 9 months due to repeat failures (shower head leaking). Upon examining the second failed unit, I noticed that one of the o-rings had cracked. Perhaps plumbers grease would help prevent this, but no grease was included and it is not mentioned in the instructions.

Replacement of pressure guard every two years?

Having the pressure gauge installed is great but needed to replace it again in a two year period is concerning about the part in general.

Bad valves

We just did a brand new remodel less than a year ago. Immediately after move in two of the valves would leak unless i used the diverter valve to stop the drip / flow. I took one out cleaned / looked for debris. Put it back in no luck.

Shower Cartridge K-8304 Leaking after 6 months

I bought a replacement shower cartridge (model # GP800881 to replace my original K-8304 cartridge) in December 2023 and installed it in January 2024. The leak stopped then. Now, in July 2024, I unfortunately notice it's leaking again. I wish I had done research ahead of time before my shower remodel, as I'm stuck with this Kohler valve/cartridge setup for the near future. Looks like I might have to bite the bullet and change out the shower valve with a more reliable brand. So disappointed! :(

Don’t buy

I have four of these mix valves in my home. Two currently leak. Not a year old. Replaced one and it leaked within two weeks. Garbage.

New Install valve failed within a year and half

Bought this new at Lowe's about 11/2 years ago. Installed easily, worked great, looked great. The other night I woke up hearing water running. Went into the bathroom and water was flowing into the tub as if the fawcet was turned on all the way. Could not shut it off. Had to shut the water off to the tub/shower in order to get it to stop. Liked this initially but if this is going to be an ongoing problem I would not recommend.

Should have read reviews before buying

Valve is not even 6moths old and cartridge leaches through. From all the reviews I read this is the worst cartridge Kohler had ever made. Can't even rebuild it. Very disappointed 😞. Now I have to deal with this. Thanks Kohler

Less than a year

Brand new house less than a year in and bath/shower valve cartridge already leaking. And not just a drip. Pretty upsetting

Failed in 1 1/2 years

Brought this system and the cartridge failed in less the 1 1/2 years had to replace. Guest showers is not used very often. Cole’s water was leaking back into the hot water line which was affecting the overall hot water in the rest of house. Found this out by turning off the hat water valve at water heater and turned the valve to hot water on shower and cold water was coming out of shower head.

Failed In Less than 4 Years

Have been in my house over 40 years and have never had a shower valve fail. This Kohler Shower Assembly was the most expensive I have purchased and the cartridge failed in less than 4 years in a shower that has low usage. I will stick to Delta/Brizo or Moen in the future.

Great product east installation

Awful - less than a year and leaking valve

I had a complete bathroom remodel and this shower valve was leaking within a year. I had no other issues except not stop dripping. The stores do not stock this item. Have to order it online then schedule a plumber.

So glad Wayfair carries the components necessary to install their shower system products.

I’d forgotten to order this so my plumber couldn’t install the new shower head etc. I order it on Wayfair and it came the next day! It was easier than a trip to the store. Thank you Wayfair!

Poor product

Kolher shower valve leaking water will not cut off only been a year and already have to replace it. Now without a bath for days because no one stocks this.

Works great and fits well. An easy repair.

Faulty

I have had to replace this valve twice in the last two years in our outdoor shower. I have winterized everything and brought into a warm area over winter and still it leaks when I reinstall the next spring.

Flawed design

Installed easy, lasted about six months. We were lucky my wife was in the bathroom when it failed or the damage would have been considerably worse. The seal between the plastic cartridge and brass manifold became compromised and and it just started spraying water behind the wall. It was terrible. It was only then I saw similar stories online. My issue is this was not a cheap faucet but even a cheap faucet would have likely lasted longer.
