I love my shed, but…
Dear Rubbermaid,
Maybe I received a defected one. They lay them flat outside area of HD
Not happy what so ever. Not even 2 yrs old. Wrapping and d[rs won't close any more.
this is the worse shed by far!!
I purchased this 8 x 10 Rubbermaid shed from my local Sam's Club back in the summer of 2020. I wasn't able to get anyone to help put my shed up. The weather for November was nice and warm!! My dad and mom wanted to put it up as it was nice. My mom had cancer and she wanted my dad to start it. I didn't. My mom sat in their van and watched my dad. But she started to fall asleep and went in my house while my dad was working on it. I went back and for checking on my mom and helping my dad do the foundation. I bought the steel foundation for the 8 x 10 shed. I didn't want my dad to do a cement floor. I thought it would be easier. The cost for the shed was $999 plus tax. The cost for the steel foundation was almost $500!! Eventually the shed was done as my brother came down to help my dad so I could stay with my mother. (she broke her ankle when she got up to go to the bathroom. she tripped on my dogs rawhide and broke her ankle! I've never felt so guilty in all my life!! She had been fighting cancer for 6 years. She passed away February of 2021). Long story short, this shed leaks inside, the sides look like they are pushing out like the roof is going to collapse!! It was very hard to put up. I don't think anyone will do anything about it. I don't like the shed, but it's there now and nothing I can do!! I will however tell everyone about this shed and not to waste their money on one. I have always liked Rubbermaid products until I purchased this shed!! So if you are smart, don't buy any of them. I think a wooden shed is the best way to go!! I'm try to send pictures.
Good idea, plastic snap together badly designed
The idea of a resin snap together is a good one. The engineering was poorly executed. There seems to be a few versions of this shed out there. Maybe I got a version that was poorly executed. I was able to get a "two pack" at a good price, so this may be a version that was not perfectly engineered. The manual say "1Q48" and stamped with 85321. Main problems; the panels snap in but don't match the height of the adjourning panel in two cases and there is no way to adjust the height. Panels C and G have a fold that creates the corner. When you snap them in the base it flares slightly at the top since nothing is holding it at a right angle. So to fit the roof, you have to have someone or some way of compressing it to for a true right angle. The major problem is the pockets for parts RPR (see picture) are molded wrong and hold the RPR beam too high. This causes the roof panels Q to be too high so the connecting strip on the panel M and the back wall don't match with the connector strip of the roof panel. The only way to get the panels to match and be able to screw them together is not install the beam. I have not figured out how to fix this yet. I may he to grind down the corner of the beam. The choice of a metal shed, which is way less expensive, but will rust and dent, and hundreds of screws to attach, versus these problems; the metal shed wins in terms of assembly. At least if you have to you can bend metal and drill new holes to fix problems where they don't quite mate properly.
Great Durable Shed
I bought this shed in 2007 from Home Depot. I have had it for 17 years. I have moved it to different locations in my yard 3 times and it’s still standing strong. I think the negative reviews are from people that aren’t getting the foundation beneath the shed completely level. The shed will not go together correctly if you don’t get the foundation completely level first. Once you get the foundation level, the shed will come together perfectly!
[Rewarded Review] Do not buy
Do not buy they sent me the wrong door in August. I have been trying to get the correct door since the beginning of October. They are not helping me $1500 down the drain look at this shed with the wrong door on it. Are you kidding me? Do not buy this buyer beware
The pictures tell you everything.
Waisted effort and money. Good looks didn't last a year. See the pictures and decide if you still want this shed.
Pleasantly surprised
I bought this from a lady who had it several years and it is really sturdy. Lots of room. I like it
Keeping this for life.
I have had this building for over ten years. It still looks very good. I am moving and planning on taking it with me.
Not worth the money. Terrible to assemble.
Missing parts and manual/ instructions. No windows, no door handles. No instructions/ manual. Found online manual/ instructions. Poor hardware and poor instruction. Love a challenge!! But really need all parts to do job. The roof is a big challenge since peek is so high and won't bear weight. I watch DIY vid my nightmare shed.
typhoon-proof
Bought the shed about 10 years ago. Fairly easy to assemble. I wondered how it would hold up in a typhoon. Found out last month when Supertyphoon Mawar passed over Guam with 150 mph winds and over a foot of rain. The neighbor's outdoor kitchen got blown away (see background of attached picture) but the shed looks as good as new. Impressive.
Not a great product, expected more from Rubbermade
Poor quality product, within a year the walls are bowed. Door stiffeners fall off every time you open the door. Window and frames in the doors are deteriorated and falling apart.
Not Very Durable
Less than a year, this shed toppled during a storm. The panels were ripped from the base and the screw holes stripped. There is really no putting it back together. It was very difficult to put together in the first place and by no means doable for two people. We had to get a tractor with a forklift to lift the roof up to the top.
Great Shed
This is a great shed and relatively easy to assemble. The majority can be done with 1 person but 2 people are needed for the roof and beams. Much easier and faster if you have someone to help. There are a lot of screws so a power driver is very helpful. Nice looking shed and great space.
