Just What I Hoped
Ordering something as important as a mattress without ever seeing it was a challenging decision. I can now report with a great sigh of relief that it turned out to be just what I wanted. What are the odds!? I dislike 100% foam, find sleep number overpriced, wanted a hybrid type that was firm underneath but cushy on top, and not too heavy to turn. Looked for over a year. My new Mattress is a Goldilocks special. Purchase and delivery perfect. Able to set it up myself with no difficulty. It took a week or two for the mattress and I to get used to each other, and now we are, I couldn’t be more pleased.
Sleeping better than we have in years.
We've been sleeping on our new Sapira Hybrid Mattress for a month now. We are finally sleeping comfortably and getting more restful sleep. It seems to be helping with reducing our back pain. It's a good mix of cushion and firmness, so that we're comfortable on our sides or back and when one of us moves around, the other is not disturbed. We tried it out in a store that carried it and recommend doing that if possible.Delivery and setup service was very good.
Great mattress, good price
We were in the market for a mattress and had seen some very nice but ridiculously expensive ones. I heard about Leesa after a google search of top mattress brands. My husband and I went to West Elm to check them out and immediately liked the Sapira hybrid. We've been sleeping great on it and would definitely recommend Leesa. The thing keeping it from 5 stars is the smell for the first few nights. It's a bit overwhelming, but does go away pretty quickly.
Looks Like This Is A Keeper!
I’ve been sleeping on my Sapira Hybrid for two weeks now and we are getting comfortable with one another. The first few sleeps were a bit firmer than I would have liked (or hoped for) but after five nights in I noticed a bit more ‘give’ or maybe cushion support when I laid down.Granted my chonker of a cat has taken up a spot in the middle of the bed when I leave for work every day and is still in the exact same spot when I return at night. Perhaps she’s the one breaking in the bed?My lower back, hip and shoulder pain are not nearly as bad as they were before getting the Sapira Hybrid. I tend to sleep on my side, although I’m trying to train myself to sleep on my back with support under my knees and lower legs. Some nights work better than others…This mattress is far more supportive, responsive and cushioning than my old memory foam mattress. I’m glad I took a budget risk and clicked “Buy”! Less
Unexpectedly wonderful
My initial thought was: “Oh, I don’t think I’m going to like this.” I’m used to a firm, coil mattress and didn't think in a million years I’d come around to the feel of memory foam. This mattress proved me wrong. It’s astoundingly comfortable. Not only do I not want to get out of bed in the morning (duh), I also weirdly look forward to crawling in each night.I’m a side sleeper, and this mattress has mostly solved the soreness in my hips. Sometimes, still, I think “I’m not sure why I like this mattress so much.”It’s not quite like the plush hotel bed feel I was originally after. But, for whatever reason, it’s exactly what I didn’t know I needed.I also am still amazed at how this GIANT king mattress shipped in such a small box. Mind blowing!
I really do love this mattress
I did a lot of research before buying a new mattress. I don’t know what I could’ve had had I gone another way but I don’t care at all. This mattress is fantastic. Every time I sit on it, I sigh from relief. It sounds ridiculous but it’s true. I’ve only had it for about 3 months so I can’t say anything to the longevity of the mattress, but I did get this brand because several of my friends who have had their for a year+ recommended it to me.If this thing lasts for more than 5 years, and I can’t think of any reason it shouldn’t, I’ll 100% buy it again.
Be careful opening the box up
On the king size mattress, don't trust the rudimentary "instructions" that are on the cardboard box. I followed them to a 't' (and even took a video while doing so). Nevertheless, the instructions don't tell you that the whole mattress is folded in half, as well as rolled up. The instructions also mislead you to believe which size will actually be "up" after you unseal the packaging. As a result, I hurt my back flipping the mattress over. I guess the mattress is not a problem, but its too early to tell. Still - be very careful with unpacking the king size!
Has been excellent replacement and upgrade.
Several months of persistent back and leg pain at night and in the morning was a sign our prior mattress needed to go. After several weeks of intense research and review surfing, we decided on Sapira Hybrid. So glad we did.We upgraded our King-size mattress with this one and got the sapira matress protector, and foundation too, replacing our old box springs. It’s been a very positive (and a long overdue) change. We’re happy with it and would recommend it to others.
Feels high quality but way, way too firm
I read a ton of reviews in my mattress purchasing process and landed here because of NYTimes Wirecutter reviews. I wanted something with support but also soft. This mattress was unbelievably firm, it was so firm that I could barely walk after waking up, my muscles were so sore. Customer service responded that this will happen for a while during the breaking-in stage, but after a couple of weeks, nothing is worth that level of discomfort. I even tried adding a plush topper to no avail. It seems like some folks like this mattress a lot but it was just so uncomfortable for me, I couldn’t believe it. With that said, somehow the quality seems great, it seems like it’s made with nice materials. The customer service was also slightly frustrating as I couldn’t get a shipping date or even a response from them after purchasing for a week or so. I have now returned the mattress and my refund is processing, but the return process took about 6 weeks and they were very slow to respond. Wasn’t the best experience overall. Less
Back issue solved
I'd been having some lower back issues and neck pain for a while I attributed to ageing and arthritis. I was not sold on the theory a mattress was the problem, but I read a few recommendations on Wirecutter. When they offered a discount code I decided to pull the plug. Within 2 weeks any symptoms disappeared and I found I was sleeping more soundly. Who knew a mattress made a difference like that. I also rejected my ageing theory.
Seems okay so far
This is our first time purchasing a hybrid mattress and the first time purchasing a mattress online. It will likely be the last time we purchase a mattress online as that process went less than smooth with Leesa and would not recommend it. As for the mattress, it is okay so far. We like that there is minimal transfer of movement so when my husband gets up at night it doesn't disturb me. We didn't like how insanely heavy the mattress is. Moving this mattress would be a literal nightmare, so I wouldn't buy it if you plan to move anytime soon. Because Leesa failed to send us the bed frame, we ended up "inflating" the mattress before it was on the foundation (which is what they recommend). So we had the unfortunate experience of trying to move it from one place in the house to the other. We are fairly strong people and it was incredibly hard. Just something to keep in mind for those of you with stairs or who may move. Overall we haven't felt like we sleep a ton better than we did on our old, much less expensive mattress, but it gets the job done. Less
ZZZZZ
The old mattress had survived way too long and I felt like I was sleeping in the Grand Canyon. My late husband’s side was no better, so flipping it around didn’t help. Since Leesa arrived, sleeping like a baby and rolling over is a cinch, no climbing canyons. Didn’t realize that a box spring wouldn’t work, called you folks to see how long I could use it without sagging. (I’m getting the new frame today.). The man I talked to was very pleasant, chuckled a little, told me I won’t have to sleep on the floor and I should be good for a month. I didn’t realize the problem with the box spring until I read the little booklet that was included, should have done more research, so Mea culpa. And after a debacle with an appliance company, calling you folks was a joy—he spoke English as a first language, answered my question, had a sense of humor and indicated I wasn’t the first to ask the question, so a good experience all around. And how did you know I needed new pillows?! Less
They changed it
We bought this mattress and it had a defect, so we tried to trade it with a new one. The customer service person warned us that they changed the mattress since we had bought it. The new version is much worse - softer and sleeps hot. I’m sure they got their reviews up with the good version and are now saving money with lower quality materials. If you can get your hands on the original model, we love it. We’re living with the defect.
Extremely hard, firm mattress
My husband purchased this mattress about almost 2 years ago and it was supposed to be a medium plush. I am a small person with no back pain or injuries, and this bed is like sleeping on a floor. I wake up with shoulder pain, neck pain, low back pain. I’ve always been a back sleeper on a good mattress and I can’t get comfortable. I went from sleeping normal hours to 2 to 4 hours a night most days. I’m writing this as I woke up after an hour and 15 minutes of sleep. I put a super squishy mattress topper on on it to make it softer, I found my old pregnancy, S pillow because my lower back doesn’t even come close to touching the mattress when I lay down, but but none of it is enough. My husband passed away, but I think it was even a little too firm for him and he hated my super soft mattress that I had before. It’s a very well constructed and well built mattress, i’m very satisfied with the pillows and the mattress cover. It just has absolutely no pressure relief. It’s just for somebody who needs extreme amounts of support, which is not me. Less
Snug as a bug
My wife and I are very happy with our Leesa mattress. I spent a long time researching mattress brands with hopes something would jump out as a clear winner. I realized how subjective mattress reviews are and recognized the many variables that can have an influence. I read Leesa reviews from people that have a similar build as us and decided to pull the trigger. So glad I did. The comfort is amazing. Every pressure point feels cradled. The price can be high for most but trust me when I say it’s worth it. We are average height and weight. I was not paid to write this review.
Not Meeting Expectations
I received my new mattress and foundation a few weeks ago. It is very comfortable at the beginning of the night; however I continue to wake up with new-onset musculoskeletal pain - low back, mid back shoulders which dissipates when I am upright in the morning. I know that it takes time to adjust to a new mattress and I am hopeful. I need clarification on the return dates for the mattress and foundation given white glove delivery delay and additional delay in receiving a missing peg for the foundation. I emailed my question to Leesa but did not receive a response. Thank you.
Experience with Mattress Matches Positive Independent Reviews
This is a good hybrid mattress that offers a nice medium-firm sleep. We immediately noticed that it's cooler than our previous mattress, which we appreciate living in the heat of central Texas. Our experience with it matches the positive independent reviews of the mattress we researched online prior to purchase. The only issue we've had with it (a minor one) is the challenge inserting the slats into the platform base (sold separately). We had to use a rubber mallet to insert them completely. Once that happened, we were good to go!
Much firmer than advertised , but some positives
The internet consensus on this model is that it is a true “medium firm” or roughly a 6 on the 1-10 scale to an average weight sleeper.I’m 5’7” and 160, as average sized as it gets, and this bed feels like an 8. It has almost no give lying flat leaving me with unpleasant pain in my upper back. My wife has hip and S/I joint issues and it aggravates her pain as well. It’s been almost 30 days with no improvement. Reviews compare this bed to beds like the Helix Midnight Luxe as comparably soft, which is insane. We tried the Luxe and it felt like a 4, which was too soft. In any case, it’s way softer than the Sapira. All this is to say, be very careful in interpreting online info for this one, as it is either too subjective or not well informed. Firmness is different for everyone, but to put this in the same category as other much softer mattresses (we’ve tried a lot) is wrong. On the pro side, the bed seems well constructed, I like the stretchy cover a lot. I think the edge support is very good and motion transfer was also better than expected. The poly foam blend is very springy, and my wife and I both liked that it was very easy to move around on. We felt it was mostly temp neutral (not cooling), but we do get hot at times. We still get faint off-gassing as well, which doesn’t bother us at all, but if you’re sensitive to it, it will need a lot of airing out.So, a mixed bag. We’ve decided to start a return soon, because while there is firm support, we are getting no contour. My back is fatigued and sore every day because I can’t get the contour I need for full upper torso support. We’re going to move on to latex as our last shot, since we found some options we can try in store that try to balance pillow top for contour and latex for comfort. It will be our third attempt to find a true medium/firm. I’m my opinion, the Leesa is a good bed, and the company is helpful and responsive, but this mattress isn’t what I need.If you’re a heavier sleeper or average or light stomach sleeper, this might be a great bed. If you’re a side sleeper or combo like me, there’s at least a chance this will be too firm. Beware all the consensus medium firm takes. It’s much closer to a solid firm than medium. Less
Worth it, don’t delay
I don’t know why we waited so long to upgrade from our 10 year old Ikea foam mattress. We immediately felt the improvement. As someone who struggles with insomnia, this mattress has been so helpful. I look forward to going to sleep now! My body feels supported and lifted, and I definitely toss and turn less (or not at all) throughout the night. My Apple Watch tells me I’m sleeping 7-8 hours straight without any wake-up’s, this is a very big deal to me, and has honestly been life changing. Memorial Day sale plus Wirecutter discount pushed me to make the decision, and it was worth every penny! Also, they removed our old mattress easily (scheduled a date, had great communication about it, carried it down flights of stairs), no hassle at all. The entire process was stress free. Less
Uncomfortable - beware return caveat
We really wanted to love the Sapira Hybrid mattress. Tried it for 2 months. Listed as a 5-7 firmness. NO WAY is that accurate. It feels like an 8-10. There is zero cushion. We even tried putting a 4" mattress topper on it and we still are fully on top. We wake up in pain every morning. Will have to return.Leesa has another mattress, the Luxury Hybrid that is listed as 4-6 firmness. I contacted customer service to initiate a return of the Sapira and asked about ordering the Luxury. I was informed there is only 1 return per household so if I paid the extra for the Luxury, and it turned out that it also sucked, I could not return it. I said I would be willing to pay the extra if they waived the no return policy but they said they could not do that. This is a big purchase site unseen - it's not like I can go to a showroom and try it out. So... Leesa is in effect forcing us to go to a competitor's mattress. Sigh. Less
