This product is SO much better than the ball catch product. We moved into a new home and previous owner had this mechanism on all their closets. We recently added a closet and used a ball catch system and immediately could tell a difference. Switched the ball catch out and now smooth opening and closing like all the others.

They are a bit "deeper" than ones I have that are about 25 years old. They do not simply fit in the old hole if you are replacing. A bit of work to use as replacements. If they are to be used as "new" door hardware, they are perfect.

Purchased these as a replacement for ball catches for two frequently accessed pantry doors. Excellent replacement, easy installation and after two years they're holding up extremely well. Seasonal shifting of the doors and frame has been completely unnoticeable after installing these and setting the tension. The strike plate still looks nearly brand new after two years and has helped eliminate my frustration with replacing a beaten and scratched plate every 6 months.

We were pleasantly amazed that a device that was installed in our home during the 1960s was still available. Somehow, while painting years ago, we misplaced the half that goes on top to which the roller catch attaches. We were thrilled to be able to find those parts and replace them. Oh, yeah, the Schlage Roller Catch device is simple, functional, and works well.

Our builder put these throughout our house 10 years ago and they haven't worked well from day 1. The door get's stuck or doesn't shut at all. If you take a close look at the design, the spring tension is only slightly adjustable by a threaded nylon nut at the base. However, the height of the roller has no adjustment. I've gone so far as stuffing tin foil in the mechanism to try to get it to work.
