I love my Saxony XL Grill Gazebo!

I am very satisfied with how my grill gazebo turned out. Shipping and delivery was a breeze. I also our purchased installation services through the website, which went great. I would recommend planning the base for your gazebo prior to ordering. I purchased patio pavers from my local hardware store to use as a base. I decided to go with the XL since I wanted time store both my Weber Propane Grill and my Recteq Pellet smoker underneath it. Hanging string lights from the top added a nice touch and were easy to install. I also really like the weatherproof surge protector that comes included. Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase!

Granada Grill Gazebo great project!

I researched this product for several months looking at several different companies and reading reviews. I finally settled on this Backyard Discovery gazebo and I’m so glad I did. Came in three boxes packed very nicely. All wood pieces were precut and drilled and very straight and smooth. All the holes matched up and each bag of hardware and all wood pieces were clearly marked. Instruction booklet was very clear and video was also available if needed. I put this together myself with help on just two areas. My family thinks it looks great and really like the two bar tops for extra seating and entertaining. Chose to put a white stain/sealer to match our home better.

Just what I was looking for

I wanted a shelter for my new garden space and thought this would fit. Assembly was straightforward, I printed the instructions and kept it in a binder, used the phone app when I needed clarification or a different view. The roof was the most difficult part, having two guys to help out was necessary. I needed a few longer bolts to pull the roof panels to the rafter but it went together fine after that. I added some flashing to the roof edges since we're in a rainy climate. All nuts and bolts were there and clearly marked, the instructions are excellent. One stick was broken in shipping but a replacement was sent out quickly from BYD. I highly recommend this shelter! It was a fun project to build and is just what my place needed.

Fantastic Addition

We picked up the 16x12 Norwood to extend the coverage of our new stone patio. Everything arrived intake, all parts were labeled clearly, and instructions were very easy to follow. We are just normal homeowners (45 yrs old, owned our home for 20 yrs) and were able to fully assemble the gazebo ourselves. We did need a few extra hands to erect each half and it made it way easier to get the roof panels up when someone hands them up to you while you're on the ladder. We put our gazebo up on 20" concrete blocks to match the height of our existing patio cover. Can't be more pleased. We will update when we get all the accessories installed (lights, fans, etc.) Definitely would recommend this brand!!

Just follow the steps

This 20x20 carport kit arrived in 11 boxes. When we opened them, there was hundreds of boards and several hundred bolts, nuts, screws, washers and brackets. This could all be intimidating! But, my wife (age 71) and I (age 75), sorted out the lumber and applied an outdoor stain to all of the pieces. We also sorted out the hardware. Luckily, my 75th birthday party coincided with the need to erect the nine vertical posts, so we had help. You really do need extra people for this step. After that, it was all on my wife and I. Took us about three days to finish, working short days because of the heat.

Kingsport 20x20

We bought this carport about a month ago to place over a deck and use as a gazebo/outdoor living space. To say we are pleased would be an understatement! We absolutely love it. It is a quality, solid made product. Although it took a bit to assemble due to size, it was really an easy build. We loved being able to use a mix of the Bilt app as well as an assembly manual. We did call support a couple of times, and they were very kind and knowledgeable. We have been telling everyone about your great products! Such a great purchasing experience and we look forward to enjoying our space for years to come!

Very well built and designed gazibo!!!

We bought this gazibo a month ago and spent the day assembling it. First off, Backyard Discovery contacted me by email explaining the unit would be shipping and gave me instruction in case anything was damaged in shipment. Nothing was damaged! The BILT app they instructed us to use for assembly instructions is the best I have ever seen. It is a very intuitive, step by step manual, and nothing was missed. This gazibo is very easy to put together and very sturdy! Most companies provide the exact materials like nuts and bolts, to assemlbe their product, and sometimes they come up short. Backyard Discovery gave us the proper materials and then some, including some of the tools required to assist your installation. I am a fan of this company and this product. I will buy from them again.

Perfect Design!

We had a 10’x20’ existing concrete slab that used to have a kennel on it under a pecan tree. We had a custom patio builder quote us $12,000 to put one up for us. We searched and found your 20 x 9.5 Arcadia Gazebo and it was perfect and nearly exactly what the custom builder was going to do. We ordered it, stained it first and then constructed it in 2 and a half days not even working full time on it and it was 20% of what the custom builder wanted. We saved a bundle and got what we wanted. It is very sturdy and wasn’t hard for two old retired people to put together. We only had to have a third person for just a little while to help hold it up while we attached all the frame together. We would definitely recommend this product if you’re looking to do it yourself and have a fantastic outdoor space!

All I wanted and more!

I purchased the saxony XL last summer and built it on a deck I built specifically for this gazebo. I absolutely love the functionality of the gazebo from keeping my grills protected, providing sun cover for me, to adding a beautiful conversation piece to the back yard. I added LED rope lights, a menu board and a hook for my apron. I plan to gutter the back this week. the assembly was straight forward and took a day or two working mostly alone. The roof was a four person job. I have recommended this to friends without hesitation. I just stained the whole structure this summer with Cabot semitransparent cedar wood stain. It looks great!

Nice gazebo, but roof drip line issue

I have successfully assembled a Saxony XL gazebo. I am very pleased with the overall results! However, after it was all done, I noticed a problem with the roof configuration when it was raining.

The $16,000 Alternative. Worth Every Penny!

We shopped around for different quotes for a custom gazebo and nothing fell short of $16,000. We then came across one of the Backyard Discovery models at Lowe's. We have a smaller back yard so looked into a smaller model (that ended up being on sale!) the Arcadia was a perfect fit so we gave it a go. HOLY SMOKES! Let me just say we've had so many compliments on our gazebo already and it's only been up about a week.

First I do want to say that customer service is really exceptional. I had some minor questions during pre-set up but a big one during the build which was critical. For that, the lady got with her engineer team and within about 15 minutes everything was good to go.

Backyard gazebo build.

You have to really pay attention to the detailed instructions. If you follow the directions you will not have any problems. The 2 different size washers for each bolt was painful at times but you have to follow the directions.

Love the look, roof could use improvements

Nice-sized grill gazebo for our new grill and small smoker. Assembly was relatively straight-forward with 2 people, and took most of the day. They did a great job putting this kit together so the pieces fit and made assembly easy. We did put a clear polyurethane on all the cedar pieces before assembling, to preserve the color and make it last longer... if there is a stain on it, you can't tell as the wood is very thirsty for more. Very pleased with the hardware, and the fact it came with a couple spares. The roof is okay... I wish it extended out further on the sides to protect the counters/tables, further out the back, and wish it had a greater slope for shedding rain and snow. We may eventually end up altering the roof ourselves. Overall, I'm happy with it. It looks great on our patio and will be very usable in nice weather.

We were VERY impressed with this gazebo from the get-go. Everything was packaged well, there were no missing parts at all, and the materials were high quality. We had a question about waterproofing the wood before assembling, and customer service was most helpful and top-notch! The included instructions were easy to follow, and everything was clearly labeled. My husband and brother had it up and completed in 1 day, before sundown. Both men kept commenting how impressed they were with how perfectly everything went together and how precise the pre-drilled holes were. The end result was so beautiful! We love it! We've had it for 6 months now, and don't have any complaints. We've received many compliments on it!

[Rewarded Review] Changed my Yard!

I parlayed this with 2 Norwood Carports to make a standalone grilling area during the week, then transform to an entertainment area on the weekends. All 3 are nice alone, but look really good together. I installed myself with my wife’s help on raising the posts and cross members. I highly recommend that novices do not try to install themselves, you will need at least one very experienced DIY’r to install without problems. Fit and finish is very nice with high quality hardware, it impressed my local Code Enforcement Officer up here in Midcoast Maine! Backyard Discovery was very responsive with replacing some damaged and warped items without a hassle, I recommend doing a complete inventory and checking the condition of all pieces when you receive it and prior to fabrication. All in all very pleased with the quality and price.

[Rewarded Review] Its a great way to cover the patio!!

I bought this gazebo because I wanted to get some cover for our back patio without needing permits and without the expense of having a contractor come out and build something permanent. When our friends come over, all I get are positive reviews and "hey give me the website where you bought this". It is really a great option. We added a gutter on the down sloped end to handle the rain runoff which help keep things dry. My only hope is that they will make an add on section to this kit. We would like it to be 30 feet long to cover our whole patio. If they come out with that, I'll be the first to buy it. I don't think we will be looking to do a permanent patio cover any time soon.

[Rewarded Review] Beautiful Kit, but assembly can be a challenge

It was delivered in late Sept, but sat in my driveway until early Nov. because I couldn't find someone to help me assemble. So I had some time off and decided to try it alone, and I'm glad I did. Everything is well labeled, all the components, and multiple bags of connectors and other parts. I set up all my sawhorses to stack and organize the amazing smelling cedar components. I commandeered my picnic table to arrange all the connector bags by type and number. I downloaded Bilt, and between it and the printed instructions, I made good headway putting things together over a few days. Then it came time to raise the Gable ends, which definitely needs at least 2 people to do. I drafted my fiance to help after work, and in the dark, we got it standing up and put together. Then, a few more days of working alone assembling all of the roof panels on the ground. I found and hired a local handyman to help me with lifting the roof panels into place and securing them and I'm glad I did. This is the most difficult part of the assembly, and it was at times frustrating and left us scratching our heads. The holes for securing the upper facia to the ridge rafter are poorly located, where you cannot use a power tool to drive the bolts. Furthermore, you have to support the roof panel while simultaneously screwing the bolts in by hand with the torx wrench, or else the load of the panel on the bolt as you try to screw it in makes it impossible. Finally, the bolts are being received by T-nuts inside the ridge rafter, and a few of those came loose to the point that the bolts weren't screwing into anything. Very frustrating, but we got just enough of them in to hold the panels in place. The first four panels are "easy" to place before securing, but the last ones on each side are difficult to fit. We also found that the holes in the rafter truss' did not match up with the holes in the roof rafters. More head scratching, eventually drilling/securing the truss' in place when we made sure that everything was keeping its correct dimensions. It took 2 of us 6 hours to place the roof, but we got it done. With the ladder still up, I drove a few 2.5" deck screws through the upper fascia boards into the ridge rafter to make sure the panels were well secured.

[Rewarded Review] LOVE MY GAZEBO

I purchased my gazebo to try and make my grilling experience more enjoyable. Until I got it I was grilling outside and at the mercy of the weather. Now I can grill whenever I please. The convenience of the electrical outlets and the hangers for your accessories is great. It looks wonderful and so far it has been a wonderful addition to our outdoor space. Assembly took me approximately 8 hours alone with the exception of the roof where my wife assisted me. The directions are good but do not emphasize a couple things. Lay out your roof before you begin fastening it. It does not reach edge to edge. Lay out your roof trim also. It can be a little tricky. And most importantly, assemble it in the location you want it to be. It’s very heavy. Overall I am very satisfied and would recommend this grill gazebo.
