Classic, high-quality, functional, and fun colors!
There are no substitutes for the quality of a Le Creuset item. Le Creuset is hands down the best maker of enameled cast iron. They are a pleasure to cook with and easy to clean. I don't worry about weird, dangerous, carcinogenic chemicals that are present in so many types of cookware. They are classic and they never look dated. I have been cooking with Le Creuset for decades and they are worth the investment. I love all the fun colors and, personally, I like to mix it up with different colors. I love that they can go from the stove top to the oven to table. Food cooks more evenly and tastes better if it is cooked in a Le Creuset.
Cooking in Style and Ease
This was my first Le Creuset purchase and I must say I was immediately impressed with the quality of the product in that it’s very heavy (cast iron) so it gives the feeling that it will last a lifetime compared to previous pots I’ve owned from other brands. (Time will tell). However, even though it’s heavy it’s not too heavy that I can’t manipulate it for cooking and washing. I must admit that when I first read the instructions for care I became a bit intimidated but as I used the pot more I realized those were just precautions rather than instructions. The size is perfect for meal prep for a single person. The color is truly gorgeous so I often leave it on the counter or stove top just for display. So far nothing has stuck permanently to the bottom of the pot (purpose of enamel coating) which makes washing a breeze. Then last but not least, I love the fact that you can easily transfer from stovetop to oven. Normally for dishes that require baking, my kitchen looks like a war zone after prep but using this cuts out so many steps as well as additional cooking utensils/pots/bowls which reduces my clean up work significantly after cooking something like baked Mac and cheese. I’m not a Suzy home-maker kind of person but this pot has made me love cooking and the kitchen a little bit more.
Finally Found The Perfect Braiser Dutch Oven
Spent months trying to find the right size, weight, price, and where it was manufactured! The fact that it's beautiful to look at is a bonus and is an heirloom piece if taken proper care is a huge bonus. I've purchased and returned several other Dutch Ovens and braisers and either the shape is not right or it's way too heavy. It's an investment, even on sale, however I plan on getting decades of use and beautiful and tasty meals that you can only get from cast-iron. Bonus is that this is not only a braiser, but also a shallow Dutch oven that's big enough to hold a 4 pound pork roast.
I am in love with this pot!
I was gifted with a Le Creuset Dutch in sage green about 15 years ago. I use it often and it seems indestructible so when I wanted to add a new, lifelong piece to my kitchen I knew where to look. I cook for 2 every single day, often 2 to 3 meals, so I need and deserve excellent cookware and my goodness I love this pot! The shallot color is just so elegant and beautiful, I can't stop staring at it, lol, and it's on permanent display on the stove top. We use gas, and always will, and it heats so evenly and holds heat perfectly. Now I'm on a mission to add another piece or two in chiffon pink and maybe Caribbean blue. The mix and match with these gorgeous colors works so well and makes the tiny kitchen we have look so much better. But I love that I won't need to replace this, like most of the cookware I've had in my 53 years on this earth. Can't wait to make a batch of chicken piccata or Nigella's curry in a hurry in my new baby!
Elegant and functional
I'm in love - this relatively petite pot is so elegant. I went with my favorite - the Marseille blue - but there are so many gorgeous colors to choose from. So far, I've used the sauteuse for soup - it's perfect for three or four generous helpings. I generally cook for two, so this is a wonderful addition for me. I saute veggies right in the sauteuse before adding additional ingredients, the shape lends itself well to stirring, and food stays hot a long time with the lid on. I often bring the sauteuse right to the table (with a trivet underneath), which makes for an impressive presentation. If the size works for you, this is a beautiful addition.
Just right
Have only used this Le Creuset casserole a couple of times since purchase but so far delighted. Happy with just over 4L size and not too heavy. First try out of chilli, I have to admit, tasted better than my usual slow cooker version. I could also load my oven with other items like baked potatoes, veg and sausages all cooking together to spread the cost. The casserole was really easy to clean afterwards which honestly surprised me after cooking chilli. Left to go cold and then washed in hot soapy water, easy. Even the lid came up perfectly just using a cloth. My Le Creuset baking trays clean like magic too.
It's my go to!
I couldn't wait to get this baby out of the box, and use it. I've been using Le Creuset cast iron skillets, for years now, but I wanted to invest in better cookware, and purchased a small Dutch oven (2qt), and this Cassadou (both in chiffon pink 😍)
Bread oven
The colour of the bread oven, chambray, is so beautiful that I keep it on display on my kitchen counter, along with my brasier. Bake enough sourdough that I ordered it as a dedicated bread oven rather than using my dutch oven all then time, especially since I use my dutch oven almost daily for stews and soups. Chambray is my favourite colour, I now have the bread oven, skillet, trivet, mini round cocottes and the brasier. My dutch oven is blueberry, but that's only because the chambray colour wasn't available at the time of purchase. If I do buy a second dutch oven it will be in chambray too. Very pleased with my purchases.
What a versatile, good-sized Cassadou!
I love EVERYTHING about this Cassadou/dutch oven , but especially the chiffon pink color! This dutch oven does everything! Love the handles!!! Love the way it cooks in the oven. LC, please continue to make these beautiful Dutch ovens in every pink color under the sun. Please bring back the rose pink, too! A word of advice: cook on a medium or medium low flame, as the DO heats up very quickly, use only silicone or wooden utensils, not metal utensils, Give the Dutch oven a few minutes to cool down before submerging in water to prevent thermal shock, use scrub daddy, not metal sponges to clean, and lastly, do not drag your Dutch oven across the stove top but, rather, lift so as not to scratch. If you do these things, you will have a lifetime of use.
Excellent multifunction large Chef's Oven
Just received today, and I can tell this will be a jack of many trades. Its large, round, and sloped sides allow it to fill multiple roles: Oven, stovetop wok, braiser, slow cooker, and soup/pasta pot. Big capacity with 7.5 quarts. It's substantial but not overly heavy either, which is nice. However, older chefs may prefer a smaller, lighter piece for everyday use. Love the Deep teal color, which sadly is being discontinued.
PINK CHIFFON IS BACK!!!
Thrilled to see pink chiffon back! This Cassadou is a perfectly-sized vessel for daily use. It can braise, sauté and brown effortlessly! Great for meat, stews, vegetables and sauces! It's both wide and deep. It's a bit heavier than the glass lid Cassadou but so pretty on top of the stove! I always use either wooden or silicone utensils so no scratches or damage occurs during use. I'd love Le Creuset to make a special edition sparkle powder pink to support the fight of women battling breast cancer! Please make that and donate a portion of your sales for the cause!
YAY, CHIFFON PINK IS BACK 🥳!
First, that BEAUTIFUL CHIFFON PINK COLOR is back! Now for the review. This dutch oven cooks like a dream. It is wide enough to brown short ribs, steak and chicken. It is also deep enough to add a substantial amount of liquid. As with all Le Creuset Dutch ovens, I generally cook on medium to medium low heat because the vessel gets hot quickly and stays hot. The size of 3.75 quarts is a perfect every day size to cook for a family of three. Going directly from the stove top to the oven makes cooking a breeze. As with all signature line Dutch ovens, the larger loop handle is much easier to lift off the stove top and into the oven, as compared to the classic line which has the smaller handles. In posting all of my reviews, I cannot over emphasize using either wooden spoons or silicone spoons & spatulas and never using metal utensils and steel wool to clean, as it will scratch your pot. There are numerous colors to choose from in this vessel and if you decide to purchase this one, I believe you will be very happy.
Outstanding, versatile all-purpose pot!
I purchased this in the olive green as a way to remind me of my mother’s “avocado” kitchen in the 1970’s! This pot is large enough to cook for a family of four but not so large that it is unmanageable in terms of it’s weight! The special price of $229 was too good to pass up, not to mention all the wonderful colors. A few words of advice: always use silicone or wooden utensils to prevent scratches or damage to this vessel, always wait until this pot cools down before submerging in cold water to prevent thermal shock and lastly, only use non-abrasive pads to clean. If you do this, your lovely pot will look as good as new forever. Enjoy your new Le Creuset dutch oven!
Perfect size for a small family.
I purchased this dutch oven in white and in smaller sz because the 7.25qt that I purchased from another online store was just way too heavy for carrying. I really like this size, 2.75qt. It's perfect for our family of three and I've used it just about every chance I can. So far it is easy to clean. I would not suggest using any kind of metal in it. I made the mistake of using a metal skimmer to take the crumbs out while the duty oven was still being used and almost scratched the bottom of it. I used some baking soda and a soft sponge to scrub/wash it and thankfully the scratched looking marks came off! Baking soda is key to light scrubbing for these enamel cookware.
Disappointed with online purchase.
I already own this in ganache and later had buyer’s remorse for not buying the Olive, too! The stores nearest me sold out in the colors I wanted quickly. I’ve read plenty of reviews about customers having issues with online orders, but bit the bullet to get the colors I wanted. I received my order a couple of days ago. The 2.5qt French/stew pot in French (mist) Gray and the deep Dutch oven in Olive. Sure enough, I opened the box and the stew pot was less than I expected. First, the inside enamel appeared darker than my other pots. It’s similar to the inside enamel color of the Ganache, which I’ve used a few times already. However, I do believe the inside was lighter when I first bought it. The inside enamel was also darker than the Dutch oven in the same order. I suspected it as - return (?) There are droplets of the light enamel coating on the cast iron rim of the lid. Not sure if this will effect the performance.
