PERFECT!
I did a LOT of research & sitting on various Adirondack chairs at different price points as well. So glad we decided on Polywood Nautical! They are the perfect height with our fire bowl & sooo comfortable for both me tiny 5’ & my husband 5’10. The 20 yr warranty was something others don’t offer. The quality is excellent! I decided to order a small side table as well which I’m excited for delivery. I have a feeling we’ll be adding to our collection.
Love the chairs…but
The chairs are great. However, the 1x2 cross support between the legs was not center-drilled. Assembly was possible but the screw is slightly crooked. Also, a few factory-assembled screws were missing-aligned or screwed too deep allowing the sharp tip to protrude through the other side resulting in a safety hazard (possible scratching). Other purchased furniture had the same quality issue. All was easily corrected and the furniture is fine. Overall happy with the purchase.
Seat depth surprise.
So the chairs live up to all the positive reviews. I love how they look, and they are extremely solid. So why only 4 stars. I ordered the regular size (vs deep) and have been just a little bummed as the seat really is not very deep. The large pillows I had in prior chairs are too thick and I’m not sure what will work in the future. We are very average size folks. We’ll enjoy them for a long time but I recommend you double check the measurements of seat depth before ordering.
One piece at at time
We're slowly building out our outdoor furniture and have been adding one Polywood item at a time. We got this chair to complement our glider from Polywood. Assembly was easy although some pieces such as the back end of the arms aren't very smooth (the plastic is rough and jutted). We found a loose bolt on the ground a couple days after assembly but can't seem to find where it could have come from the chair. Either case, the chair is still holding up so fingers crossed! Looking to add a rocking chair next to complete our set.
Nice, sturdy, long lasting furniture
I bought 2 of these chairs and the side table. They are quite tricky to put together, especially as one person. Recommend not completely putting the screws in, so there is some wiggle room for the back piece to fit and line up the holes. Once it's all together, it's very sturdy, and quite comfortable too. I ended up going back to order the ottomans, as they would be nice to have as well. Excited to have outdoor furniture that will stand up to weather!
Very disappointed in the fit and finish quality of a chair that costs close to $300
I’ve heard all the great stuff about pollywood, so I was extremely disappointed to see the final fit a finish of these chairs (nautical Adirondack curved back). Where the plastic is cut, there were multiple “burs” hanging off the cuts. They need to get sharper blades at the factory or at a minimum check the cuts before sending then out as “finished” products.
Great product but still room for improvements
I love these chairs and tables. They hold up well to the heat and definitely worth the money. The assembly is straightforward but there were some issues with the holes aligning between parts. Fortunately, the material is fairly forgiving so no hole modifications were necessary. For a premium product a little more care in the quality control of the manufacturing process of the parts needs to happen so the customer doesn't have to deal with any assembly issues. Otherwise, it's still a great product.
Factory assemble was horrible
I purchased 5 chairs. The pre assembly was horrible. 4 of the 5 I needed to take apart and reassemble. And screws were imbedded so they needed to be cut out. One chair has a cross brace inserted but they never installed the screws, so I had to buy extra screws. The arm uprights all but one were put together backwards. And all but 2 of the cross braces were backwards. Longer goes in front and shorter in the back. Luckily I was able to spend hours extra of my time to get all of these factory mistakes corrected so that I didn't need to find out how their customer service is. Once correctly assembled, they are comfortable and seemed to be decently sturdy. Hopefully they last as advertised.
Bought 4 Modern Curveback Adirondacks and love the chairs! Expect them to be durable, heavy weight and comfortable. Great for lounging, arms are wide enough to hold a refreshment and the seats on this style is not so deep that they are easy in and out, and they don't put so much pressure on your backbone. Thought I'd need cushions but not necessary. Also purchased two side tables. Only complaint, of the four chairs one had a defective screw thread and one was missing a screw and drill hole on the seat slat (that part was done at the factory). Very easy for TWO people to put together, I would not want to do this my myself.
Thrilled to lounge again
First experienced these chairs at a family cookout. The minute I sat in one, I knew we had to have some too. We ordered 3 of the slate gray and could not be happier. They are very comfortable especially the angle of the back - we don’t feel like we’re leaning back and staring at the sky. The arms are wide and comfortable and a good resting spot for a drink. We also love the modern look to a classic chair and better yet made from recycled material with long lasting quality. No more purchasing plastic Adirondacks from the big box stores. These are worth every penny.
Adirondack staple with nice modern flare
We switched out our classic Adirondack chairs forest green for the modern curve back non-folding ones in the sunset bright red. We are Really enjoying the difference in the chairs - these seem more durable and this height for sitting is a little higher than the other foldable chairs.
Great quality. Tough assembly.
No question about quality...as advertised. Not so much about the timing and ease of assembly. I noticed the video shows assembly being done on an elevated table and the attaching of the back by using a jig to balance and place the back. Not in the instructions. Also the rudimentary tools recommended really ineffective. I used socket wrench and power drill with proper bits. Still took me two hours. Do check out the online videos. It helps.
Small flaw. Otherwise good.
Maybe we’re being picky but when you pay this much, I think high expectations are allowed. We love them except one piece wasn’t cut accurately leaving a gap under the arm rest. It’s noticeable to us so it matters. I sent this to customer service and haven’t heard back from them almost two weeks later. Besides that we do love them. Very comfortable and heavyweight construction. We hope to add more to our backyard at some point but hopefully without any other flaws.
Disappointed
From a distance, chairs look great. 2 out of 4 had screws missing from the seat. 2/4 have slats in the chair back that are crooked. All 4 have very unsturdy arms from not being cut flush. I’m afraid if a larger person were to push up off of them they might break. There are some serious quality control issues. I had emailed nearly two weeks ago, and have yet to hear back, even though it says a 3-5 business day turnaround. For such an expensive product, we are quite disappointed in the quality…and customer service for that matter.
Comfortable, Good Looking, and Solid...
We ordered four of the Modern Curveback Adirondack chairs.
Comfortable and great looking!
These chairs are so comfortable! The curved back and seat fit my wife and I like a glove. Everyone who has used them so far has commented on the comfort of these chairs. I'm excited about the extremely low maintenance required with Polywood chairs. I certainly tired of repairing and repainting the old wooden Adirondack chairs these replaced. The style of these modern Curveback chairs looks great on our rear patio and with our home. The footprint of these is so much more compact than our old Adirondack chairs and we really like the seat back angle and the seat height. Assembly was easy, however, my only complaint is with quality control from the factory. Several of the predrilled holes had not been completely drilled through, which required me to finish drilling them. I also had a few over molded/rough edges on a couple of the chairs that I had to trim off. For the price of these chairs, I expected more precision and quality control/inspections. All in all we are very pleased with our chairs and expect to enjoy these for many years to come.
Great product, but hope the commitment to quality manufacturing is renewed
I'm a big fan of Polywood. This is our third purchase, having already bought an outdoor sectional and loungers, with these 4 chairs being intended for around a fire pit. Through the three purchases we've made, I believe the quality control around manufacturing, packaging, and shipping are slipping a bit. Out of the 4 chairs delivered for this order, two of the three boxes had shipping damage. The two undamaged boxes had a secondary cardboard liner, and the two damaged boxes did not, despite all products being the same part number. On three of the four chairs the screws on the pre-assembled components were not tightened, and one of the chairs was missing a screw on a component that was supposed to be preassembled. In the end Polywood products are so bullet proof that everything ended up fine, but this order took a lot of extra labor and some purchasing of hardware to get things to completion. Still love the product, but hope quality control gets back to the levels we've previously experienced.
Like the modern look
We had some problems with one of the chairs. The holes connecting the arms and legs were off making the chair sit at an odd angle. Customer service was prompt in addressing our needs. But there is a disconnect between customer service reps and people actually shipping parts you need. We needed two new arms. They sent a left arm and a right leg? Left arm fixed the problem with the left side of the chair. So we contacted customer service again and then they shipped 2 new arms, a left and a right arm. Then a couple of days they shipped another set of arms??? In the end we were able to fix the chair with one of the new right arms they sent. Now we have 3 extra arms, a right leg we don’t need and a set of arms that have holes drilled wrong. But we love the color of the chairs and they are comfortable to sit in. The style of the chair goes great with our farmhouse style trestle dining table. If we had not had the problems with the arms of the chair, I would have given this chair five stars.
The finishing touches
We have waited several years to replace our 25 year old wooden Adirondack chairs. We are so excited and pleased with our new Curveback Adirondack chairs from Polywood! We recently completed our backyard bluestone patio and fire pit area and our old chairs had run their course. They were delivered when expected and pretty straightforward to assemble. They are quality manufactured and we just love the Vintage finish and color - they match our dinning set nicely. They are very easy to sit in, a bit higher off the ground than our last chairs, more comfortable on the legs and easier to get out of. They are a good weight so not easily blown over yet not too heavy that they can’t be picked up and moved. We are very happy with our purchase and highly recommend them to anyone looking to add some flair to their outdoors.
looks pretty and easy to place an order. The Polywood Brand is one of our favorites! They are fairly affordable, very durable, and they are quite strong, as they are rated to support up to a 400 lb. person. They are made from the HDPE (High-density Polyethylene) recycled plastic. The HDPE seems to be longer lasting, more durable, stronger, and less brittle than the less expensive plastic furniture that is made from Polystyrene. We live in a rural mountain location that gets the extremes of weather, from 100+ degree days in Summer down to -10 Degrees and lots of snow in winter, which is all pretty harsh for any kind of outdoor furniture. Even though we always put all of our outdoor furniture away in the garage every winter, we still had to eventually mess with refinishing our real wood Adirondack furniture every few years. My husband totally dislikes working with wood, and I am just sort of lazy, so that is why we finally switched over to this recycled plastic type of outdoor furniture! It is very easy maintenance with it, if you can hold a garden hose! I loved this chair from the first time I saw it. It is just the contemporary style I was looking for. It’s made in USA from recycled containers. That made me love it.
