Ordered 6, 2 were damaged, can't return
I bought 6 lights (cost lowers if purchasing 6 or more) and 2 of them were damaged in transit. I want to exchange the 2 damaged lights with new ones. When I attempted to initiate this exchange, I was not able to select 2 lights from my order individually. It was all 6 lights or none. I am going to have to call customer service in the morning and hope there is a way to process this exchange. If not for this inconvenience I would rate the lights as a 5.
Perfect for kitchen sink
Selected 24" light to replace kitchen sink fixture after beautiful globe light was broken. Decided to go with an expensive, low profile light. This is it!
damaged goods. not in stock and had to order.
Ordered three led lights for garage that had to be shipped from Ohio. Opted to pickip in store so i could look at items for damage. One box wax ripped and exposed the light fixture that had a very small spot that was scratched but was acceptable as it was going to be installed as garage lighting. Took the three lights home and started to install them in garage. First two lights went fine and i opened the third light and it was damaged inside a box that had no exterior visible signs of being handled roughly. Store is 12 miles each way and called the store for return. It made no since to make a trip to the store to return the damaged light and order a replacement that would arrive three days later that i would have to make another trip to the store to pic up. I ended up ordering two more lights from home hoping one of the two would arrive undamaged and the first damaged light will be returned to the store at the time i go get the new order replacement. Not an easy uneventful purchase!
Being an Electrician….this light has a poor design
This light fixture is not installation friendly. For years as an Electrician the wires from junction box has always made connections in light trough. But some “Genius “ thought that having LED strip in the middle of fixture, and no “opening” for the wires to come through to make electrical connections. So your having someone hold the fixture, someone make the electrical connections and then mount the 4’ light fixture. NOT A GOOD DESIGN!!!
Replaced an older fluorescent light the same length as this one. It lights the closet at least as well as the fluorescent bulbs did. Original installer left lots of wire when hanging the old fixture, and this one has no place to hide excess wire. Other than this installation snag, light works great.
Limitation to consider
My garage ceiling was not wired with a junction box. This means the leads and terminals are pulled into this box to be kept. And to get them into the lighting box there needs to be a knockout. This model has no knockout.
Buy only if you have electrical skills
I liked the price (40% off). But there are no "knock-out" holes that the instructions describe. That's OK if you know how to drill out the plastic end, install a wire clamp, and re-wire the unit, but not every buyer does. Once you're done you're probably using this in a shop, where you'll skip the 'adjustable' lumens and color to their maximums. You'll never wish to touch the adjustment tabs again. (Ability to adjust is a waste).
These Lights are Awesome - Excellent Value
Purchased four of these lights for the garage, and love the look and light distribution. All functioned perfectly as described right out of the box. Some reviewers related that installation is difficult and a two person job. This is a one person job by temporarily hanging the fixture it to the electrical box with a cord or wire, then removing the cord/wire after all electrical connections are made.
Make sure that your ceiling has a junction box
This was a replacement for an old style fluorescent tube/ballast light in the laundry room. If your ceiling doesn’t have a junction box, as in my case, get the standard octagonal metal box and the number of appropriate connectors to secure the cables. Ceiling lights in homes from the 50s and 60s often were not grounded. The electricians merely cut off the grounding wires. Assuming that your cables have grounding wires, add a grounding wire to the junction box (using copper wire and a green grounding screw) and connect all grounding wires with a wire nut. Previous reviewers indicated that it was nearly impossible to mount the light directly to the junction box screws because the orientation was not a perfect 90 degrees to the wall. I elected to use 4 No 6 plastic wall anchors and ran #6 x 1 inch screws from the light fixture into the ceiling. Keep in mind that the light fixture is only 5 ½ inches wide. Therefore, there is little wiggle room to hide the junction box. Tips: tape the holes on top of the fixture with electrical tape to block stray light from entering the room. Get a helper and work from 2 six foot ladders to complete the installation. It is helpful to get as close to the ceiling as possible to view the mounting screws and electrical wires. Turn on the power and check to make sure that all systems are go before installing the diffuser. Installing the diffuser is tricky but goes easier if your helper squeezes one end of the diffuser into the slot and holds it tight while you run your hands down the diffuser toward the other end; similar to closing a zip lock bag. This light is super bright and lit up our 10x8 ft laundry room to all four corners. Technically, this isn’t a wrap around light because the diffuser shines directly down and not across the ceiling, but this wasn’t an issue for me.
Not very bright and has limited mounting options.
These lights only have one LED strip and aren't very bright. They also limit your install options because there are no knock-outs and they want to force you to use an electrical box in the center of the light which makes desired mounting positioning a problem when ceiling joists are in the way. I also didn't like the way the diffuser snapped in because it's not easy to install without risking breaking the plastic when applying pressure. I would not recommend these lights especially for a garage or workshop application. Might be fine for a small room with one light.
