Look good, but they aren't easily dimmable.

Let me start with some positives before I go into why I will likely end up returning these. First, they look nice, like powder-coated metal despite being plastic. The plastic feels very durable, and I would have worried about metal getting dented/deformed from people kicking it, but I have no such concerns about the plastic. They are plenty bright (maybe too bright, more on that later), you could easily get away with using 1 every 2 steps. And it's actually designed for both 12VAC and 12VDC, which has the added benefit of meaning that even if you're using a DC system you can't install them backwards, they just work however you end up wiring them. They also appear to be self regulating, so regardless of whether you give them 11V or 13V, they stay the same brightness, which eliminates the concern of voltage droop on long runs causing your lights to be inconsistent brightness.

Decent light, but very pricey for what you get

One has not worked straight out of the box. I have tried multiple times to get in touch with Build.com and hinkley, but the hold times are past 30 minutes each time.
