Very disappointed that this trash can did not come with a cover. I used my old one when I did gardening. Put in grass clippings and branches. My old trash can had a cover. Never had a trash can that did not come with a cover. I returned it. Went to home depot and bought a 32 gallon trash can with a cover for $16.00.

Our trash people are constantly either tossing, running over, or just straight up taking our little square recycling bins that the city gives us. Or break them when tossing them like they're at the Olympics back onto the sidewalk or pavement. We got tired of this happening (and very recently it happened AGAIN), so I went right to finding something much larger that could hold all of the recyclables in one and wouldn't be back breaking work. Plus, sturdiness was clearly necessary. It came today, and I could NOT be happier with it! It's super SUPER lightweight for the size, and it actually really nice to look at. Hard to miss, and we wrote out address on it! There should be no reasons for it getting lost OR broken/ran over this time! I'll be grabbing a second one, too, just to have another on hand for those birthdays and holidays!

There are no trash cans that are heavier-duty or more durable than the Rubbermaid Brute cans. I choose the color red (and gladly paid a couple of extra dollars for it) for the higher visibility over the typical gray or black Brute containers. In association with the Tennessee Department of Transportation and Keep Tennessee Beautiful, I regularly volunteer to pick up litter alongside the roads and highways of my rural county in middle Tennessee. In the past, I have always carried a trash bag in my left hand and my litter picker in my right hand. ***Aside: in my opinion, this is absolutely the best 36-inch litter picker and worth the small cost: https://www.Home Essentials Direct.com/gp/product/B00KPLLR5Q.*** Recently, I saw a landscaping crew member using a 20-gallon Rubbermaid Brute trash can in one hand and a litter picker in his other hand. Since he didn't have to fuss with the collapsed opening of a trash bag being held while picking up litter, his speed was phenomenal. I knew then that having a small trash can in which to pick up litter would be an excellent solution to holding a trash bag while walking and picking. Therefore, I chose a trash can size that would hold a small yard trash bag (30 gallons), would be durable, and would be easier to see than a normal black or gray can. Of course, my only choice is this red Rubbermaid Brute 20-gallon trash can! As expected, this Brute can is rigid - that is, it won't bend out of shape even containing a full load of heavy trash items - and it's virtually indestructible. The handles on the sides are wide and comfortable, making it easy to carry for prolonged periods of time. There are two hand holds molded into the bottom of the can which allows for your second hand to effectively grab the bottom of the can when tipping it over to empty it. Additionally, there are a couple of trash bag cinch points (or "wings") alongside each side handle which allows for oversized (or any) trash bag to be secured around the perimeter of the rim. This keeps the trash bag (or "trash can liner" as it's commonly called) from sliding off the perimeter of the rim down into the trash can...which is EXTREMELY frustrating! The measurements in this Home Essentials Direct posting for the 20-gallon can are slightly inaccurate. The outside edge of the bottom is about 16 inches wide; the outside edge of the top rim is about 19.5 inches wide; and the overall height is just under 24 inches. Overall, I highly recommend the entire line of Rubbermaid Brute trash cans. Specifically, this red 20-gallon Brute model is perfectly sized for my use and the color is as expected, too.

Good size and durable

The bin is a good size for my household recycling. I thought the price might be a little high in that I could probably find a similar item without the recycle symbol for less money.
