This light worked out perfectly for me. It is attractive, looks more decorative than the standard flush mount light fixture, and has 2 sockets for standard size bulbs. This is actually semi-flush mount, glass rim is about 1 1/2" from the ceiling. The glass is thick and not too fragile, like the other light fixture I ordered very similar to this one which arrived shattered.

We bought these lights for our kitchen and love them! They are close enough to the ceiling to not interfere with the valances yet are still not a flush mount fixture (which I am not a fan of). Simple yet beautiful!
