This is worth buying over building your own

This is one continuous piece of material with no seams or cracks to worry about. The outside flange is about 1/2" so it marries up nicely with cement backer or foam boards. All edges are pre-sloped so you can install this in any orientation you like. It will fit between 16" studs in the vertical orientation. Nice product, tile-redi does good work.

Took extra time to arrive at the store I selected, which put my remodel behind, so I was a little frustrated with the arrival date, and what actually happened

I ended up choosing a stainless steel niche instead of the tile redi, looks like a good product, shipping was ok arrived undamaged

It is not practical. Not big enough for the shampoo, etc. family size bottles.

Order did not arrive on time for us to use the product

It is made of sturdy plastic.

This ensures a waterproof shower niche with its molded design.

It isn't large enough for an adult to sit on but will hold shampoo, soap, etc.

Good product for quick niche build.

I like the ease of installation. Not having to build the niche from scratch is a plus. There should be included stainless steel screws. It's a solid product I've used it on two shower builds and I like it.

Expensive and poorly engineered product

The Redi shelf is not yet installed because there has been a delay in installing the very expensive, but poorly designed tile-redi shower pan and bench. The width of the shower pan is 48” (including a 4.5” curb) and the width of the bench is 44”. This means that the bench is 1/2” too wide to allow its installation inside the outer wall of the shower - where the outside line of the wall should follow the lane of outside edge of the shower pan curb. Their tech support told me to move the wall ……Hmmmmm I don’t think that’s going to happen. All I can do is to install it such that the backer board on the back wall of the shower will lap over the redi bench instead of sitting on top of it and goop it up with silicone. I will not therefore be able to use the included flashing kit on that wall.

I used this in a bathroom renovation in 2014. I was very pleased with it and I am now using it in my new house build. The installation instructions were simple to follow, and the tile went on easily. I was quite impressed that the price only went up a few dollars in the 8 years since I first purchased it.
