Nice, But Disappointing Gouge

This bookshelf is a seemingly good quality product and was fairly easy to put together, but I was super disappointed to discover a huge gouge in the wood on the top outside corner. There was no damage to the outside packaging, so the wood pieces were already damaged BEFORE they were packed in the box. Again, super disappointing when the bookshelf is an overall nice product!

Great shelves at a great price

These bookshelves have been great. I bought 2, and they look very nice and are sturdy. They had a couple VERY minor imperfections on delivery, but nothing noticeable or problematic. I'm happy with the depth of the top shelves, especially, which I worried would be too shallow to hold what I wanted (very small books, decorative items). The shelves have held up well for a couple years now.

This is a Great piece of furniture! I love it! it looks even better in person the color is a nice rich brown not too dark just right. It’s nice and sturdy made of real wood. Matches all of my dining furniture perfectly,I placed it the corner of my dining room and added pictures,vase and a beautiful sculpture. Spot on it

I’m bummed bc this has a spot on it that is super noticeable. :( It is right at eye level on the front and unfortunately is on the side by the door that it is going by and so it is really noticeable. I’ve had to return so many things to Overstock that I just can’t be bothered to deal with another. So I’m just going to paint it and hope you can’t notice it. I love the simplicity and size of this shelf, and I really love the curved top. That’s why I choose this one and it doesn’t disappoint in that area. It’s perfect for my needs so I’m just gonna deal with the flaw. My husband, who is painter, thinks that it is the wood underneath showing through. Like maybe it was a knot in the wood. The paint job could have been better. Looks like primer. I think it would prob be easy enough to paint another color though if you’re picky about that.

Good-looking, easy setup, great value

This ladder shelf looks great. The value for what it is is also great. There are some small things that would make it better; the fine details are slightly rough(transition from top piece to bottom piece) and would be nice to have screw hole covers, but again, that value matches the quality and I am completely happy regardless. Setup was easy and the ladder is very light-weight which helps when you need to move it around.

One note is to use a smaller drill bit centered on the shelf screw holes to insure that they would not split as has been mentioned by some prior reviewers (only about 1/4" deeper). I would have preferred a brown color, but at about 1/3 the cost for some reason, the white color fits in nicely and looks good. The paint was uniform. Great for the price.

Beautifully made

I had searched long & hard for just the right color, height, appearance and cost for a ladder shelf. I took the chance and purchased matching units and so thankful I did. They are very sturdy and tall. Plenty of shelving room. Color (Espresso) matches my other furniture perfectly. The wood grain you can see makes the quality unsurpassed from others I looked at. There are back braces to keep the top and bottom pieces together as well as a brace to add to the wall. They are heavy enough for what I use them for, so not needed, but good to have as additional support. Definitely not disappointed and happy to show them off to visitors

Overall it's nice, but it leans to one side. One of the legs doesn't touch the ground so it's uneven. I was hoping not to have to bolt it to the wall but now I have to to get it straight. Luckily it's on carpet so it's not as noticeable. Ive already put it together so I dont want to go through the hassle of returning it but it's frustrating to buy an *** piece of furniture and get a faulty item. Plus, this is my first OVERSTOCK item so it's made me hesitant to buy anything else. I took a gamble buying this online item so beware future buyers.

We are a little disappointed by these bookcases. Aesthetically, they were what we wanted, but they have some drawbacks. First, they arrived with missing brackets for one of two bookcases. Luckily I had two spare brackets amongst my extra hardware I hang onto from other odds, ends, and products over the years. Good thing, too, because those brackets hold the top and bottom half of the bookshelves together. Second, even after putting them together and ensuring all screws were right, the shelves still have a wobble to them if nudged. I reckon they will be fine if left alone, but if ever knocked hard on accident, I would be afraid they might break more easily than other products I have purchased on Overstock. For now, they get the job done and no issues holding up books and knick knacks.

Ordered two of these in the espresso finish. They arrived right on time and were relatively easy to put together and install. Very sturdy and beautiful, I’m using it as a plant stand/bookcase. My only complaint is that there were some minor imperfections on one of the two bookcases. Small dings, and problems with the stain that was used. Also missing the gloss finish on the outside supports on one side of it, but nothing I can’t live with. I figured no one would really notice it but me, so I’m keeping both of them. They look absolutely fabulous now that I’ve staged them with my plants, pictures, and books!

Descent for the price

This is a good decorative shelf for the price. They are made of solid wood. You have to be aware that the shelves are made of thin wood. I highly recommend that you assemble this shelf with another person making sure that shelves are aligned. If they are not, they may crack. Also be aware that this shelf consists of two parts connected with a thin metal plate in the middle. The holes in the upper and bottom parts in the product I received were not aligned with the holes in the metal piece. You may need to re-drill holes. With the weight of the upper part, the shelf does not seem to wobble too much. But some people may find this shelf to be too wobbly. The brown color is darker than pictured, but it is a nice walnut color. The finish is smooth.
