So far so good

The assembly is fairly straightforward with instructions, fasteners and an Allen wrench included. You'll need a Philips head screwdriver to install the seat, and a hammer to tap in the nylon leg pads, but that's easy too. My wife likes the chair. I think the foot rest should on the outside of the legs, so I gave design 3 stars.

Great purchase. Easy assembly. Aesthetically pleasing. Comfortable. Great price. Just what I wanted.

Good value; nice bar stool.

The finished product is beautiful. However, my handyman had to come over to do some drilling to make it all come together. Just be prepared to NOT have it perfect right out of the box!

High barstool

I bougth these bar stools, the color was a little different when I got them but I still like them. The only complaint I have with these is, is that the backs of the chair and the holes on the chair and connected to the chair all did NOT line up no matter how much you pull or how hard. I was not able to get screws in some of the holes, I bought 4 and only had one chair that I could fully put all the screws in. Just keep that in mind. It's too much of a hassle I think to contact, then receive another set by the time I needed it.

Colors not as described

We ordered (2) of these barstools. The seat/back fabric is not a light wheat color - it's a very dark wheat color. It's too much trouble to return them so we'll have to have them recovered. VERY disappointed and dissatisfied.

I must have misunderstood the description as I thought I was getting the rustic grey color but ended up with the brown color. Probably my fault, but still disappointing, especially since these are sold out EVERYWHERE and we only need one more. As far as the actual product goes, it's well-made and seems sturdy. Whenever we find our fourth stool they will look great in my kitchen.

Well Worth the Price

I love these stools! Although they probably won’t last generations, they look and feel great, we’re super easy to put together and work as specified.

I bought 3 of the Simple Living French Country 30 inch bar stool and we absolutely love them. The wood is weather grey and the seat and back is a grey cloth. Very comfortable. Looks good with my newly remodeled kitchen which is with cabinets and stainless appliance. I had to return one of them cause I didn't have room at the bar for 3 and Overstock was so helpful in helping me return the one stool and they credited my account that same day. I will recommend them to anyone and I will order from them again. Thanks Overstock.

Was a little wary ...as friends had bad experience with these"style" ...not THESE ... swivel bar stools ...chipping the edge of their counters and uncomfortable with too-small seats ...I assembled one ...tried it for a day and delighted ... the holes lined up well plenty of simple hardware, good instructions for assembly, this seem sturdy, well balanced, the swivel is nice and stiff ...so does not smash into bar-edges,the seat wide and roomy well padded...the finish attractive & looks great with my decor ... the rubber wood ...nice & soft on bar-edge ... the height is perfect for my tall breakfast bar! Time will tell how durable they are & hold up to usage! I tossed the stupid tiny slide buttons for feet & put on my own felt stick-on sliders/floor protectors!

Beautiful, Sturdy, Comfortable!

My sister gave me a random bar stool that she bought as a mismatched set with a bunch of others. We loved it so much and it matched our bar so perfectly that we searched the entire internet and finally found the bar stools here. We bought 5, now giving us a set of 6. They are beautiful, very sturdy, and very comfortable. A few were kind of a challenge to put together because all of the holes didn't line up exactly but it all worked out ok.

I made a mistake and ordered the incorrect size. However after a slight adjustment which involved cutting the legs down They are remarkable as no one can tell that we dlmade them shorter. They are so firm and comfortable swival and perfect for kitchen bar. These chairs were a snap to assemble and only took me about 30 min. Total. I really satisfied and happy to of found these stools. I did not want to return them because of how beautiful they were despite my mistake.

Poor quality, poor customer service.

Directions so confusing regarding an arrow that is supposed to line up the seat cushion to the chair. Then once the cushion is screwed to the chair it does not engage completely. Falls off. What a piece of junk. I didn't even bother to open the other chair. Poor quality. What really is bad is that I have to pay $** for the return. Do NOT order these!

They look nice, relatively easy to put together. Seems like chair pad detail is out of order as it should fit a little tighter towards back of chair- we made it work. Ordered one to see if I liked, then ordered 5 more. One of those came with two of the SAME leg pieces so we can't put together. Will need to return and haven't done it yet. Will plan to take back to Wal-Mart store in person and biosecurity will order the other one for me. Last time I had to return something there it was a seamless process.

Solid construction and nice looking colors. The wood is definitely darker than in the picture, but still a nice shade.

Before purchasing I read all the reviews. I was a little hesitant because of the negative ones. First and foremost, they are darker than the picture. The reviews with the photos are more accurate. In my case, they looked perfect against my travertine stone and dark granite. Also, they are larger and more robust in person than what I expected from just looking at the photo. I was happy about that. All three showed up in great shape. After reading reviews I used blue loc-tite on all the fasteners. Some have complained that you can't center the seat cushion when following the steps so they do that step out of order. I tried fastening the seat cushion out of step like the reviews suggested to get it perfectly centered but then the back rest won't mount flush to the seat frame. I felt this could cause the back rest to then break easily. In my opinion, it's best to follow the steps and have that seat be slightly offset to the front. You wont be able to use all four of the wood screws to hold the seat on (unless you're lucky) but it's the lesser of two evils when you consider that the back rest will now be mounted square and flush to the frame and will be less likely to break. Having two screws to hold the seat on is plenty in my opinion, and usually I was able to use three with the front of the seat offset a little. Other complaints dealt with holes being misaligned etc. I loosely assembled all fasteners before tightening. I thought I had some that were never going to line up, but by doing this loose assembly first for that sub component/step I was able to get every screw started and tightened. Overall, these things look great to the point that I'm ordering two more. The assembly for the first took about 45 min, and the last took maybe 15. I highly recommend them and will update my review if the quality becomes an issue.

These were problematic from the beginning. Assembly Instructions are incorrect, the stools cannot be built by following. Assembly is difficult and these are not sturdy AT ALL. Even when fully and appropriately assembled they are wobbly and have connecting pieces that are not reenforced well at all. We had to return/replace one when a connecting piece broke off completely causing the child sitting on the stool to fall as it collapsed completely (with proper use and stools only 4 months old). We bought extra pieces from Home Depot to secure all other stools but are apprehensive about using. They look lovely but the quality is horrible.

DO NOT BUY. Horrible. We bought 4 of these bar stools. All of them came with only 2 sets of screws. We decided to put together only 2 of them since we didn't have a full set. I found it odd that the cushion didn't even fit on the base. Its a different size. Less then a week after we bought them the first chair broke. My 10 year old daughter was sitting on it and it came crashing down. We used the screws and put together one of the others we didn't install previously. Well its been 3 months since we bought them and we have officially lost the last of them. They all broke. Horrible construction and can't even send a complete set of screws. Worst thing I've ever bought from this site. Disappointed for sure.

Let me explain the one star, before you write this review off. I love these chairs and they are gorgeous. However, read all the comments about assembly in previous posts. I ordered four chairs, of those initial four, only two were able to be fully assembled. One defective chair the screw holes do not line up at all to attach the chair back (off by 1.5 inches), the other chair the leg was broken in half. Return those to chairs get two more (super hopeful) and sigh, only one chair of the pair can be assembled. The other chair the screw holes again do not line up and a big chunk of wood is missing from the chair leg. Now the chairs are out of stock and I still have only three chairs, All the chairs have dramatically 50 shades of gray and were clearly from different manufactures. I took a risk and bought chair on line, and now I know why brick and motor stores are key for accountability for merchandise. You can return the chairs, but I have to drive and lift huge boxes (not kidding) to the local UPS, not a home pick up. So in summary, great idea, but the specs in the plant from Malaysia needs to be inspected. So sad such great chairs are plagued with manufacturer errors. In summary, beautiful if you get a good batch otherwise get read for headaches.

Nice barstools directions are wrong

Bought these barstools 2 months ago. Assembled according to directions and not only did the cushions not align over the base properly, they were not marked as stated in directions. Called customer service with no help. Proceeded to assemble and eventually screws just fell out and cushions came off. Do yourself a favor and learn from my mistake...don't follow directions. Attach the chair back last. This will allow you to Center the seat on the base and the screws seem to hold the cushion in tightly. Once the cushion is secure, add the back on. I have rebuilt 3 of my 5 already and they are much more secure. Hopefully they will hold up. They look beautiful once assembled. good luck!

Terrific until you try to attach the cushions

I was impressed with how well these were built as I were putting them together. Every piece was fitting together well and felt sturdy once fully assembled. The only problem which was a fatal flaw for me is the process to attach the cushions is atrocious. They use 4 screws that go up underneath and go into cushion material. They are not secure and if someone tries to grab the pad/move it, I had one or multiple screws fall out onto the floor.
