Easy to install

Quick and Easy install. Kit comes with everything you need except the tools. I would also recommend purchasing copper sleeves and inserts. The kit comes with plastic ones that break easily.

Leaks

The sink and wall connections are super easy, barely an inconvenience (wouldnt mind a pitch meeting episode on this equipment). The connections that should the easiest simply will not not leak. Feels like homer simpson not not licking toads. After installing a sink (my first) and cleaning the P trap (horrificly disgusting…cant belive we cant use a flap or pressure but rather just let water chillax in the cold, dark, humidity. Could be a decent product with a simple hose change

Do Not Buy

I bought this filter for my remodel, and after installation and testing by a Master plumber, a fitting failed and flooded my home. There was 2" of water in my new kitchen floor, running into other rooms and ruining wood and carpet. My contractor will never install another such filter.

Poor instructions and cheap plastic

Like other reviewers have mentioned, the plastic compression fitting made to fit a 3/8 inch shutoff valve is not a foolproof connection for the DIY'er. The instructions are inadequate. All they say is "Note: Don't overtighten or ...". What they fail to mention is if you don't tighten enough the 3/8 inch tubing will pop off at some random time in the future flooding your room. Which happened to me too after two weeks. Buy a unit with braided metal tubing instead or wait for GE to fix this flaw.

Cheap parts lead to a big cleanup

This product uses pressure fit connectors made of cheap plastic. It doesn't even come with enough of them to complete the install without having to buy other parts. As others have said, it's not a question of if the connectors will fail, it's only a question of when. Luckily we have water leak sensors under the sink that went off at 5am this morning when one of the connectors failed. Do yourself a favor and stay FAR away from any GE filter system.

Stay away from this system. Bad parts/poor build!

Like many others here I had trouble with the unit leaking from the very beginning. They supply the cheapest possible parts. Be prepared to make additional trips to the store to buy additional adapters/fittings. Also be prepared to spend way too much time trouble shooting what should be a simple DIY.

Cheap materials and no support from GE

Our current water filter failed requiring us to quickly purchase a new one to replace it. We did some research and settled on this model. The box said that everything needed was included. We read the instructions thoroughly and even looked up installation on YouTube. We installed it exactly as directed and, when slowly turning on the water, it flew off and water sprayed everywhere. We tried again and ended up needing a plumber. He had problems, too. Cheap hoses and connectors were the culprit.

Instalation was straightforward. S÷ms to work well, but how does one know when the tap water is odorless and tastes good in the first place. Since the filter is on our additional drinking water tap I didn't activate the 6 month filter replacement timer.

Fair But Honest

We bought this unit for the kitchen sink on our boat. Unlike many other people on here I installed it in less than 15 minutes. I ran the water for 10 minutes just like stated in the instructions. I'm very disappointed with how much it restricted out water pressure. We went from full pressure to half or maybe 75% of our pressure was gone. We don't have the luxury to return an item once its installed. Its just not practical or it would be gone. Maybe next time we will do better research.

If this was free, I wouldn’t take it

Absolute garbage!!! Spent 2 evenings after work trying to install (I’m very handy) only to find it impossible to work. Finally I thought I got it done after buying extra plumbing parts only to wake up to a flood in my kitchen. Product is made with cheap plastic and some glue. I forgot to add the plastic straws they included as water hose. It’s really funny when i think about this whole experience. Stay away
