I have been using these filters for my fridge ice/water feed for about 6 years now. The filter makes a noticeable difference vs unfiltered tap water. We have pretty good city/lake water here in the Chicago suburbs, but these filters remove anything that still gets through. The latest filters arrived sooner than expected and were in perfect condition, no signs of any abuse/use even though they were listed as 'open box' units.
