The wrong toilet was sent. I ordered the tall, received standard size, which was clearly marked on the box. It took over a week to get it, so returned, bought one in stock at store. The HD website says no talls in stock at my store, but there were several..All in all, frustrating experience. Folks at store were nice.
Good toilet!
Good toilet! Flushes great and uses less water and is higher for easy exit! Color is right on and the handle is very period for our historic home. We “enjoy the go”!
Horrible Toilet
Don’t fall for the marketing hype. This toilet is horrible. I am of average height and the tall design is not comfortable. The near vertical geometry of the rear inside of the bowl seems to catch and retain more “dirt” than a regular curved bowl design. The swirl action does next to nothing in washing the dirt off the back of the bowl. The vormax swirl is more for show than utility. The power of the flush of removing waste from the bottom of the bowl is average.
Horrible Toilet! American Standard, never again!
We purchased this toilet over a year ago while waiting for our pool changing room and bathroom to be completed. At first the flapper was sticking to the side and I would hear the water constantly run til I would shut it off. I changed out the flapper and now it won't flush just moves water around but nothing will go down. I just had a family reunion and had to close off the pool restroom due to a non working piece of porcelain! I could have saved a bunch of money and used 5 gallon buckets to flush an old toilet from a builders surplus... thanks for the embarrassment American Standard and for all the wet feet across our wood floors...
Terrible flush
Terrible to flush. You need to hold the handle down for an extended time period for a full flush
Squeaky Seat
The seat is very squeaky. Other than that the toilet is ok.
Not happy with this product
I had the Vormax installed by a licensed plumber and had flush problems within the first week of use. The plumber returned twice and found no problems with the toilet or plumbing system, so I left it alone thinking maybe user error of some kind. It would flush normally at times and then go in stretches of very poor flushing, like only one out of every 5 or 6 flushes would completely clear the bowl. I gave up and purchased a different toilet that flushes every time. Don't waste your money.
I liked the small footprint of this toilet, but you MUST hold the handle down for an extended period of time until you hear the "big gulp." Otherwise, you have to flush twice and wait for tank to fill. I also have advertisement, from big home improvement store in town, the exact toilet is $ 189.00. Remember, you must also buy seat for this toilet.
Worst Toilet Ever Made
Brand new out of the box this toilet flushes maybe once out of every 6 attempts, and when it does there are particles noticeably that don't get flushed. There are two flapper valves and one constantly gets caught around its chain leaving the valve partially open. What a terrible design. I really, really want my money back. I'll never purchase anything from American Standard again.
[Rewarded Review] Good flush
The toilet worked well. Quality product. It was a replacement for a bowl that was sent by mistake but once I got it and installed it the customer was happy with the finished install
Disappointed in quality
I bought this a few days ago and though this seems petty, American Standard is printed crooked on the toilet. Things like that and crooked pictures drives me nuts. I have to look at that crooked printing every time I use that toilet. Also that has to be the cheapest toilet seat ever made. I have 2 more toilets to replace and they won’t be American Standard.
Votmax
Way over engineered system. It continuously ran and at times the float would rattle inside the tank requiring you to remove the lid and hold the float down while the commode tank filled
Do not buy this toilet!
I wish I had never bought this toilet! In a little over three years it has caused my cesspool to overflow into my basement 5 times! The red flapper on the right-hand side has a rubber float (or whatever it is called) on a chain. When the float gets caught under the flapper the toilet runs constantly. I've bought replacements twice but the same thing keeps happening. I have to watch and make sure it stops filling before leaving the bathroom or I just turn off the water supply. Design flaw?
did not work right from the start
you would think after all these years american standard would have perfected the toilet but no! this was installed 10 days ago. already the handle is super loose and it is constantly running. they are sending me a new flapper to install myself. this is also not an easy clean toilet like toto. go toto and not american standard! this toilet is just going to be one problem after the next.....with plumbers costing $200/hr now it is important to get it right the first time!!
Do not Buy American Standard Vormax toilet
The Vormax uses 2 expensive ($11 each) silicone seals. The seals go bad after 12 months or less requiring replacement. Until the bad seals are replaced your tank water will constantly drain into your bowl. Home Depot should discontinue this line.
American Standard
This toilet has a strong flush and keeps the bowl clean. It lives up to the description.
Good Cleaning Toilet
After doing a lot of research I decided on the American Standard 3385A because of the new design that will keep the toilet cleaner. The new way it flushes is interesting and effective.
Works great
I just purchased this toliet. Love the height. So far everything is working great. Flush systems seems to be very good. The style and size are a perfect fit for my bathroom.
[Rewarded Review] Customer was so thrilled with the first, he bought another!
This toilet was specified for a master bath renovation and a year later, for the same owner's powder room stating "That toilet is awesome, I want the same exact one you got me last year!"
[Rewarded Review] American Standard Vormax toilets
Excellent choice. The toilet is very efficient and uses much less water compared to the one-piece American Standard toilet this replaced.
