Scratches and squeaks/creaks :(

We have had this toilet seat/lid for over a year. It is in the guest bathroom so does not get used too much. It now squeaks and creaks whenever someone sits on it. We tried tightening bolts and such but still an issue. Also this one got scratched when a child's toilet seat adaptor was placed on top. There are marks on both sides of seat now. Our other toilet is over 5 years old and is used A LOT and we have never had this issue with that toilet seat. Different brand. Disappointed.

It feels like I'm sitting on a cold throne. :) My old seat didn't get cold. This one does. But other than that, it's good - especially for the price! Closes softly.

Pro: 1) I like the contour lines on the lid, looks great without having a cover. 2) the soft closure feature. Con: 1) for the price it seems/feels somewhat like "cheap" plastic. 2) the lid scratches very easily - a bummer, no pun intended.

I love the slow close toilet seats. With just a gentle tap the seat closes automatically. This particular one had a totally different installation procedure. I was used to centering the seat over the holes and inserting plastic screws held underneath by a plastic wing nut. With this seat you have a separate piece you install first on the toilet itself (see pic). It is attached with rubber gaskets you screw in from the top. Then a cover is placed over it, concealing the screws. The seat itself is then attached to the plate by aligning the metal pieces on the plate, with the holes on the seat and gently pushing it into place until it clicks. The look is clean and simple, plus the installation is so much easier.

You can’t go wrong selecting American Standard products! They are made of high quality plastic and this particular seat has a great finish and stylish look to it. It was so easy to install. I don’t think it took ten minutes to remove the old and put on the new one. You have the choice of installing it top mount or bottom mount. I also really like that the lid doesn’t come down with a bang. Almost forgot-you can remove the seat by pressing in two buttons and lifting it off!

Installation was straight forward and easy to install following the printed instructions. I love having the seat removable. With the seat removed you are able to clean the toilet bowl more thoroughly and faster. Cleaning the toilet seat is easier to clean and disinfect as I bring it to the slop sink to do a careful and complete cleaning. The seat is made well, looks great and is comfortable to sit on.

This toilet seat is a replacement for the one that came with the toilet I replaced a few years ago. That seat was flimsy and fell with a bang when it slipped out of your hand. This seat closes slowly and without any noticeable noise. Installation instructions seem a bit more complicated than it needs to be, of course, in today's world maybe that's needed. Please check out the picture, it may save you from installing the hinge bolt assembly backward. Most replacement seats usually just bolt through the holes to a fastener underneath. This gives you the option to do it all from the top of the bowl. You still have to remove the old one, so there's that. Once the attachment bolts are installed, the seat hinge just slips on and locks. Two little push buttons releases the seat & lid for cleaning. There's also a cover for the whole assembly which makes it easier to clean. The seat is plastic, but is more substantial than the one it replaced, but not as strong as the wooden one in my other bathroom. Regardless, I tip the scales a bit over 200 lbs and sitting on the closed lid did not leave me feeling that it would break or slip. It closes nice and quiet, so I shouldn't be waking my wife when I'm stumbling around in the middle of the night.

It's not flimsy like other plastic light weight toilet seats that either come with the toilet or are available in the store. It was easy to install and actually looks good. It has an easy on/off capability without needing to remove the mounting screws. It came with mounting screws for both top mount or bottom mount installation. The seat and cover each close slow to avoid slamming shut.
