Thermostat wiring are little different and manual is not clear enough to show wiring configuration. Had to call tech support.

Can be frustrating installing in you're a novice.

The spots to place the wires into the new unit were very difficult to access. The directions on the RC, RH wires were vague in the directions. Calling Tech support was a waste of time.

Replaced mercury thremostats with this product

easy installation, definite control of the heating zones, accurate temperatures unlike the mercury thermostats I replaced these with. I like the ramping feature, that allows me to have the temperature I set at the time I want it.

False advertisement

Batteries are required for this unit even though it says optional battery free operation. There is no option for that. Spend another $20 and buy a decent thermostat.

Purchased 2 Emerson Programmable thermostats and they are both defective. Do not buy this product.

outdated display

The thermostat works fine. It does what it's supposed to do. My only complaint is that the display is small and needs a backlit color. It's pretty difficult to read the display if the thermostat is in a dark location.

You are not able to set individual times that you want. Only preset blocks of time set by the manufacturer.

The previous reviews concerning contacting the wires are true. I gave up and reinstalled the old true which was so easy compared to this one.

Bought this last Oct. (18) Worked fine for heating in winter, but since cooling season came it will allow unit to start blowing warmish air. Turning the thermostat off and on will restore cooling function. Had central unit checked and was normal. Will have to replace but probably not with this unit. The connections are too small for one thing.

This simple inexpensive White-Rodgers (Emerson Industries) setback thermostat was easy to install, program, and use. It allows 4 temp settings per day, which I find to be enough, allows 2 separate programs for Mon-Fri and Sat-Sun, and will work with all heating/cooling systems except electric baseboard and multi-stage heat pump. It also cannot be used in a 120-Volt circuit (usually electric baseboard). I used it in a natural gas-fired hot air heating system with air conditioning (a typical heating/cooling system), and it works fine. Display is clear and readable. Setting the programs is easy and straight-forward, and the programming/operating instructions are clear. Like most of these products today, it is made in China, but build quality is good. It uses 2 AAA batteries (std. alkaline) for clock and program retention, which are included in the box.
