We have a $60,000 bathroom that no one uses because of this toilet. It looks great on the wall, but indeed as the other reviews say, it doesn't flush clean. This was to be our guest bathroom - the one that all our guests for dinner and/or overnights use, but I wouldn't subject them to the embarrassment of having to ask for a toilet brush. And if you have to store a toilet brush right next to the toilet, it doesn't really warrant having a beautiful, expensive, wall-mounted toilet. There is the option here to attach a photo, but I will spare you.
Purchased 4 of these for my new build and I regret the purhcase
I've used Toto and Duravit wall hung in my previous rebuilds, But I liked the clean look of the connections for the Veil with the bidet. Nothing but problems. Constant cleaning as it rarely clears waste from the bowl, panels do not stay on the sides. and the actuators in the toilets get stuck and won't flush all the way or won't stop running. I would reconsider using these toilets nomater how good they look on the website.
Poorly Engineered
The unit looks great but the flush action is the worst I've ever seen. It does not clear all the waste water. It requires at least one more flush to start with "new" water. Secondly, you will need to clean a lot more for #2's. Minor adjustments can be made but it is still very much an inferior product compared to standard toilets. The caps do not stay on the bolt & nut and the cover for that compartment is clearly something that was just thrown on at the end of the design process - cheap! Unless you have a true space constraint or are a gal who will wear pretty shoes even if they hurt, this is not the right product for you. Feel ripped off!
Replacement part hard to find
We renovated the bathroom last August and went with an in wall tank model from Kohler to save additional space in a small room. The overall look is lovely, but now I am concerned about the cheap materials that make the toilet function properly. The push activator disconnected from the lever a few weeks ago, causing a continuous flow of water into the toilet. Once I figured out how to remove the cover from the flush mechanism it was a relatively easy fix to reconnect the activator and stop the continuous flow of water. The problem is that while we had the cover off (we had to repaint the wall where the flush mechanism is mounted), one of the push activator button lost the spring and washer that causes it to bounce back after pushing. We have had a difficult time identifying a replacement part through Kohler. I ordered something through the online service, but was sent the wrong type of push activator. We have been trying to identify the right part over the phone with Kohler. Maybe our model is obsolete? The side panel of the toilet is also sticking out (from the beginning) and makes the toilet look cheap.
great visual design, very poor technical design
Had the Veil K-6299 for 5 years (professional installation), & have the same problems already mentioned: 1) low water level: I can't fix it since I can't find the drawings I need. Thus I can't see how to remove the final plastic box that allows access to the fill valve. 2) Side panels fall off: that's because one surface must have the "hooks" and the mating surface have the "loops" (soft and puffy) surface. I bought new velcro, applied both surfaces correctly & now the covers hold. My toilet came with the the "hook" portion (only) on ALL the surfaces. 3) Seat can't be tightened for more than 1 visit. Design using nylon nuts and flexible seat connections won't hold a metal screw tightly. A hole next to the space where you tighten the nut allows you to lose the nut down into the toilet base if you drop the nut. 4) 3 calls to the tech line resulted in one person who tried hard to help me, but even he couldn't find the correct drawing to access the fill level valve. 5) If floor model toilets can be engineered to be easily accessed/repaired, why can't wall mounted ones be as well engineered?
Do Not Buy without reading reviews
We installed 3 of these last year and like many of the other reviews we have had problems keeping the bowl clean from solids and we also have problems with urine splattering outside the bowl due to a very low water level in the bowl. We initially thought the first issue was a glazing problems but it was on all 3 toilets and after reading the other reviews, it now makes sense. We went with our GC and suppliers recommendation and did not research this product. A big mistake and we are letting them know that these should be avoided in the future. On the hunt for replacements!!!
Same problem with the water level provided in most of the reviews
I am sorry about what follows and I have never written a critical review like this in the past but I couldn't manage to stay quiet this time. I don't know how a company as reputable as Kohler still has this toilet in the market. I have the exact same problem as everyone who has complained about the water level here. I bought it over two months back but only got it installed yesterday, by a plumber who actually knows what he's doing and he says I have to go for a new one because there's literally nothing that can be done with this. I see a lot of replies from Kohler to the same compliant asking to turn a white knob to change the water level. But I see that my water level is actually at the 6L line (water limit line) on the tank. I don't know if turning the knob is going to help me here (even if I knew which knob it is). If Kohler actually thinks this is can be corrected, can you please explain with pictures or a video as to what we should be doing to have this corrected?
If you like smears this is for you
Sorry this is crude but even the smallest of number 2s will leave smears and track marks ALL around this toilet. I've never experienced anything like it. Men, women, teeny tiny children tootsie rolls ... guaranteed to leave a mark. We are constantly cleaning this commode and it ALWAYS looks dirty. And the sad cheap velcro side panels fell off within weeks of installation. The straps on my grandpa's tennis shoes last longer than that. This review says I can leave a photo but I think that would be inappropriate. High end price tag on a low-quality product.
Products not as advertised
Purchased 4 Kohler wall hung toilets (6299x4; 6300 for master) with the master to be a bidet compatible toilet. Kohler rep gave our plumbing supply rep incorrect information on compatible bidet seats and so she ordered the wrong one…which took months to come in. I verified the incorrect information by calling Kohler myself asking which bidet seats were compatible with the 6300 seat and was told 3 out of 4 times that it was the one initially ordered. The bidet seat that originally fit the toilet was discontinued but still is shown on the website. So we ordered the next one that was supposed to fit C3-430 and waited 6 months for it to arrive and today the plumbers were not able to install due to the electric plug being too large to fit through the concealed trap area and the supply lines would not work either….so now waiting on Kohler to provide another “solution”. Total design failure.
The talk of the town
After seeing something similar in our friends home in Germany, we decided to give these a go. The idea of hiding the tank and not having a pedestal to trap all the gross “liquids” that occur in a bathroom from time to time was exciting. Cleaning completely under the toilet and minimizing its space in our bathroom, yes please!
Useless
Bought the toilet and recommended (kohlers website) bidet seat and after 2 trips from plumbing company still using kids bathroom. The finish at the main connection on the back of the toilet is not consistent and has leaked after 2 remounts. The bidet hasn’t even been turned on because connection problems. I wish I would’ve seen the reviews prior to this purchase. Side panels don’t stay on but doesn’t matter because the bidet can’t be routed through the hidden compartments anyway so they have to stay off. The electrical plug side is way too small for a connection to be made so again run the cord across the floor to an outlet. 2 trips from plumbing company and they finally said you need to purchase another toilet bidet combo. Koehler needs to recall this toilet immediately! I’ve been a general contractor for 20 years and supported them for what has always been great products but this toilet needs attention.
Worst toilet ever - ZERO stars
We had two of these installed in our newly remodeled house a couple years ago. One was installed in our master bath and one in the powder room. These must be mounted on a hard surface so we had to mount them on a tiled wall. Since the beginning, we had issues just like everyone else who has written a negative review. For the past 2 years we thought the water level was low because our plumber installed them incorrectly. I just found out today that it’s the toilet itself that is the issue. The water level has been adjusted to as high as possible, which is extremely low. It looks just like the other pictures in the reviews. Not only is it impossible to keep the bowl clean, there’s also “splashing” that occurs while you use the toilet because of the low water level. I found this site after searching how to fix the water level and came across all these reviews that say exactly what we’ve been having problems with. Our toilets have also lost the side panels because they fell off about a month after installation. One reason we wanted this toilet was because it would be easy to clean since there were no grooves on the outside. Now that the side panels are off, I have to clean inside the area that the side panels would have covered.
Worst Toilet Every - How Can Kohler Keep Selling It
DO NOT BUY, read on to understand why.
Terrible toilet-Water to low to function correctly
The water level is way to low and therefore does not work for solid waste. I tried to figure out how to fix this only to discover that their is no fix. So anytime you or a guest use this for solid waste you will need to clean your toilet. Embarrassing for guest and host as well. Very poorly designed when it goes not work for what it is designed but only to save water at the expense of working. Also the side panels constantly fall off and is poorly designed. I would add piturs of the issue but no one wants to see that......
[Rewarded Review] WOW!!!!...WHAT A GREAT TOILET!!!!!
I CAN NOT for the life of me understand why people are hating on this toilet!!! I LOVE mine!! It is in my main bathroom. Everyone raves over it!! So easy to clean!! No more disgusting, nasty toilet on the floor mess. Easy installation. Saves 12" of floor space too if that's an issue. As for water level, how much do you need??? All you need is enough to keep the trap full. When there is water sitting in the bowl half full it is etching into the porcelain and leaving a water ring after time. Not with this toilet. You will have a beautiful shine for many years to come. Yea mine lost the side covers too. So what. You wouldn't know they are supposed to be there once you pull the velcro off. Doesn't affect the functionality one bit. People just love to hate........HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
[Rewarded Review] Stylish, space saving toilet
We live in Chicago and space is at a premium. It is amazing how much this design improves the flow of the bathroom. It looks so much cleaner and more modern. Yes, the side panel does require some attention but it is easily fixed with new velcro fasteners. We put it in our powder room and loved it so much we put it in our master bath. I wouldnt get the polished chrome flush plate (it does show fingerprints) next time. Minor annoyance because all in all it is SO much nicer than any other toilet we have used. Also...it never clogs. I noticed a lot of reviews focusing on the water level, etc. We never noticed this and couldnt have been happier with this model.
Doesn't pull toilet paper, only waste
It looks beautiful, but doesn't function as a toilet. The toilet will flush liquid and solid waste, but will NOT pull the toilet paper. So the toilet paper just floats around on the top. I've had multiple plumbers come look at it. Adjust the water line, increase the pressure, nothing. They are recommending a new toilet. I'm completely unimpressed. Check out other sites. This toilet continues to receive 1 star reviews on every site it is sold on. I'm not alone.
Do not purchase
I definitely wish we had read the reviews prior to purchasing this toilet. We did not because Kohler has an excellent reputation and we have used their products numerous times. In fact, my father-in-law is a plumber and he stands by Kohler. Based on the existing plumbing in our house, we had to have a wall-mount toilet and we made our decision based on dimensions, style and brand-- never considering that the toilet, or any toilet for that matter, would not fully clear solid waste from the bowl. As stated in numerous reviews, the shape of the bowl and the low water level contribute to this major issue. We are now in the midst of a bathroom remodel, that we hoped to complete before the potential rise of Covid cases in the fall, and we now are stuck with literally the poorest functioning toilet we have ever encountered. We have read the prior reviews and suggestions made regarding water level, etc. without resolution. What are we to do? Add additional water prior to each bowel movement? Ask everyone (including our guests!) to give it a good scrubbing after use? Make it the Urine Only' toilet? You absolutely do not want to purchase this toilet. And Kohler should discontinue it.
I want to cry
I am a single mom and saved and saved for a bathroom remodel. I really wanted a wall mounted toilet. This was such a disappointment and I wish I would not have ordered this product.
Not easy to clean!
The low waterline means this toilet has to be cleaned constantly--after any solid waste. Extremely inconvenient in a powder room unless a host likes to hand a toilet brush to each of their guests. I had professionals istall this toilet but we were denied our close-in inspection approval because we did not have a metal "sheild" installed on both sides of the in-the-wall tank. This should be included in your installation manual. It actually makes sense because it prevents homeowners from accidentally piercing the water tank and causing serious (and expensive!) damage to walls and floors. I am a kitchen and bath designer and will not be recommending this toilet or the Persuade anymore because of the low waterline.
