Appears an excellent air filtration unit.

Excellent, very quiet on lowest speed where we have it set 24-7. I prefer the GAC filter after the dust/particle filters and that's doable. The preliminary/initial filter appears to be very efficient. With care it should last a good number of vacuuming's and washings. In do course, we will see if the vacuuming the HEPA filter can extend its useful life.

Family got it for my mom since we have pets and she’s is allergic to pet dander. Ever since we’ve gotten it she hasn’t been complaining about her allergies. The noise on the air purifier is very minimal and if it’s too loud for your liking you can always just turn down the fan. The design of this is really compact and lightweight that you can take it almost everywhere with you.

[Rewarded Review] Silent nights for sure

This thing is quiet. First and foremost when it's on night mode you can't hear the thing at all. Plus it turns off the bright display light automatically. The smart sensor is a plus and having an extra filter in the packaging is great. This is why I ended up buying a second one.

[Rewarded Review] Quiet and light weight ...

Bought and just received today. Ordered online. Box and item came in good shape. Purifier is much lighter than I expected it to be which was a nice surprised. Unboxed, removed plastic and tape, turned it on and works great so far. Can't hear it running. It's on fan speed 2 at the moment. The only thing it didn't have was a manual. I had to download and print it from the internet. That's fine but kind of inconvenient.

[Rewarded Review] Avoid! Irritating beeping when turning on and off

HUGE RED FLAG. this machine beeps an incredibly irritating sound when it turns on or off. there is no way to stop this. i’ve called them. the beeping when the machine goes off, if on a timer, will wake you up if you’re sleeping. why on earth anyone would design a machine to beep to SIX TIMES when it goes off? i cannot for the life of me understand. stay away from all winix products as they ALL do this and it cannot be fixed.

winix 5300-3

have noticed a difference in house air so it is doing something. Have a cat with asthma and she seams to improved. The winix is not a whole house purifier. Set on 3 it is hardly noticable to me. The filter replacements are easy to find online. Set-up was a breeze. Is light moving it is easy. Have been running it since day 1. It has collected quite a bit of fine dust and reduces odors. Can you by a cheaper air purifier sure but will do the same kind of job? One thing to keep in mind sq. ft. and room locations. At night it has a auto sleep setting which is really silent.

Well the auto feature is pointless

Chose this purifier based on reviews. It's nice and quiet, seems to move a lot of air though I don't have any way of measuring how much is getting filtered. Is my air quality better? maybe.

I knew this brand is a good one. I’ve had this unit for a few weeks now, and I love that it runs pretty quietly. Having different options to run it is a bonus as well. It came with extra filter pieces to replace and it looks like you can spray them down to dry and reuse a few times. It is not written in the manual but it is made of a mesh-ish material that I have sprayed down to dry and reused for other products like vacuums. I bought this to really purify the air of our carpeted floors upstairs. We have pets too and this thing did make a noticeable improvement in smell and breathability. I woke up with less gunk in my nose and I’m usually allergy prone. It does it’s job for the square footage it claims to purify.

I only received this a few days ago, but so far so good. It's MUCH quieter than my Hunter model, as in, you wouldn't even know it was on without the lights on top being on. The great thing about this model is that it will automatically bump up the fan speed if it senses air that's less than optimal. I bought a couch at the same time and it was off gassing pretty badly...smelled like paint in my house...this air purifier got rid of the smell within a day. It doesn't just filter the air, it actually changes the air quality by breaking up VOC, bacteria, virus, etc molecules. Should I be offended that the "bad air alert" light came on when i was cooking dinner? lol

Working well so far. Super quiet on low speeds...

Working well so far. Super quiet on low speeds and less noise than some fans we own even on high speed. Like the auto feature as it appears to quickly increase fan speed and associated air purification when cooking odors are present. Ordered through Home Depot and box and item were in good condition when picked up at store. Using it in a room bigger than verified square foot rating and it still seems to clear the air ok but slower than it probably would in a smaller space.

Easy set up and runs quiet

Allergies are getting worse the older I get. After researching air purifiers, I settled on the Winix 5300-2 and am very happy with it. Was looking for something to clear pollen, dander and other allergens from my indoor living space. So far I have noticed that I am not as symptomatic. The air is also fresher smelling.

Good Job Winix for a Product That Delivers........

My allergies have been so bad this year. Partly because of the dry and dusty weather conditions where I live in California and at certain times of the year am allergic to dander from my cat, Smokey. Cannot do anything about weather only God can I guess. As for the cat, he is kinda all I got anymore and he is with me for life! Anyway, been shopping WalMart website for an air cleaner and as I am retire, fixed income, medicare and all that stuff, was looking for something reliable, effective and reasonable. After awhile, they all sorta sounded and looked the same but came across this Winix and what struck me first was its design. It was tall, thin and the air intake is from the side and outflow from the top. Easy to place in my small house and not worry about blocking airflow. So ordered it, came a day early and packed in a thick cardboard box. Easy to set up in bedroom, easy to operate. I set in on high the first night and did not find the noise bad at all....but I can sleep thru almost anything. It is just the sound of whoosing air......I did not really know what to expect but the next day I woke up and noticed that the congestion in my sinuses and ear was a bit better. By the 2nd night/day my sinuses had drained and me ears were feeling way better. By the 3rd night/ day my sinuses had cleared, my ears were no longer squishy. My eyes no longer itched. It has cleared my room of allergens and I just operate on a low setting now. I will testify this thing does work. It is nice looking, easy to operate, well built, highly effective. As soon as I save a few more dollars and it is still available, am ordering one for my small living room/kitchen. And already checked replacement filters and they are reasonably priced......good job Winix.

Malfunction/ not working product

The product has stopped working and I've only had it from July 14. I really was enjoying it until one day a week ago I notice it just stopped. So today my husband decided to trouble shoot after I did last week. He youtube it since the instructions that came with it didn't help it start to work. I always buy extra filters when buying such items for the future. We have been carrying for just like the maintenance states. We I plugged it changed the carbon filter push the resetand the fan buttons keep coming on and staying on. YouTube states that it's a malfunction with in the system. No fan engine or anything comes on just the two fan buttons. Iam really sadden because I didn't want to spend so much on a an item that's no good and a delay in cleaning my air. I only gave three stars since it did work and we was really loving it until it stopped working. I have an autoimmune illness and was really looking forward to a long term usage from this product is why we purchased the extra filter set.

FAN MAKES INOICE AFTER 2 WEEKS!

I am very disappointed thus far with this air purifier. But my disappointment is not about the features and it's ability to purify it is the problems I am have with the noise it is making only 2 weeks after buying it. It started to make a ticking noise 2 weeks after buying and I went on YouTube and low and behold there were a ton of complaints about the same problem. It was the fan bolt that was loose and I had to take it apart to tighten it which took an hour!. That worked for one day but now it is making another noise again which is hard to describe but I again assume it has to do with the fan. I only expect it to get worse. It is mainly when it's on settings 1 and 2. HOW DARE YOU WINIX CHARGE $150 FOR THIS WHEN YOU KNOW THIS PROBLEM EXISTS AND YOU FAIL TO DO NOTHING ABOUT IT AND KEEP SELLING IT WITOUT ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE. SHAME ON YOU FOR SCAMING PROPLE AND FORCING THEM TO HAVE TO RETURN IT OR FIX IT THEMSELVES. THIS IS A LARGE ITEM AND IT IS AN INCONVIENANCE TO RETURN IT AND YOU KNOW IT! SHAME ON YOU !!!

Repels dust, hair, etc. Useless

I've had this unit for a couple years now. I never see a difference in dust accumulation, so one day I sat the unit in a ray of sunlight where I could see dust, dog hair, etc. floating in the air. was it being sucked into the unit? No. when some of it happened to float the direction of the unit, it blew away, not into. all this time I've thought this unit was helping with dust and maybe even slight dog hair but it hasn't been doing anything except blow air around it. I faithfully change each filter according to the instructions. That hepa is very expensive but I changed it even if it did not look used. I buy the 3 pack charcoal filters and change those regularly. I wash and dry the permanent filter every week. It barely shows dust, never dog hair. over the years I've had this $140 unit I've paid out a lot of money for filters for what seems to be a fan, nothing more. The fancy hi tech sounding plasma wave seems to be a misleading gimmick. Total waste of money for me! while thinking it was helping my air quality, I've had COPD problems aggravated while I continue to have to dust every other day.

Excellent

I have been using this air purifier for 3 months to help with allergies, asthma and pets. It's exceeded my expectations. The price was competitive, filters also on the lower end for these products. The noise level not an issue, I don't even think about it, we run it on high (level 3 of 4) 24/7. And I can see it working, I vacuum the pre-filter weekly when I vacuum the house and can visibly see the dust, dog hair on it. I also just changed the charcoal filter for the first time and it was covered in stuff. and that filters just meant for odors but is was so covered with stuff it went from black to gray color. The hepa filter isn't scheduled to be changed anytime soon but I may opt to change early since it does seem to be taking in a lot and I want to keep it at optimal performance. This model has plasma feature which I have opted to keep off. I don't like the idea of it emitting ozone but that's your call. the important thing is it is there if you want it and can be turned off if you don't. I also love how the machine has an indicator to show air quality and changes colors. The one thing I don't like is that the lights only dim in sleep mode, which is level one. I wish that I could manually turn lights off. Instead I put black electrical tape over it (see photo), and that has worked well. It is the best looking one I've found and small for it's coverage size. it is light, has a handle and very easy to move from room to room. I plan on buying more for other rooms. I am very happy with this purchase.

Very effective air purifier.

We love this gadget! We bought two, one for our bedroom, upstairs NW corner, and one for my study, downstairs SE corner, and left them in automatic mode. The other morning we accidentally burned some brocolli. We have forced air heating, and the stench quickly spread through the house. It was too cold outside to open the windows. As soon as the stench reached each unit, it went from blue to orange and then to red quality, and the fan kicked up to 3/4 speed. Within an hour the stench was gone from the entire house, and the units returned to blue quality and lowest speed, which is essentially silent. It has made a big difference to my allergies. I like that the fine prefilter screen is washable and that it comes with a year's supply of charcoal filters. I think the plasma wave feature really works. I am very sensitive to ozone and have never sensed it with plasma wave, which we leave continually on.

Quietest air filter/cleaner ever! When it is on Auto, the majority of the time it is on low now that the fires have subsided in my area, and at the three lowest levels I don't even notice it's on it is so quiet. I'll forget it's there, though it's right next to me in the bedroom or by my desk during the day. At the highest level you do hear the fan - but I also appreciated that Auto feature, especially during the fires, as it kicked it up to the highest level right away and definitely made a difference in my ability to breathe. I have ongoing seasonal asthma which was made much worse during the fires, and this literally saved me. Within 24 hours of receiving it, my coughing lessened and eventually went away entirely. Sometimes the Auto will kick the fan up to "high" (red zone - you can see the three levels with the small light on the front) when my husband is cooking inside and gets the room smokey. It cleans both the smoke and the smell of the cooking out of the room within minutes. I keep it with me all the time, and am considering a second one so I can just leave one by my office desk and one upstairs by my bed. I had no issues with any weird mechanical "smell" that others have talked about, it's been clean and quiet since day one, but they do say in the instructions if you smell that when you first turn it on, to put it outside or in a garage on high for about 8 hours to let it air out, and it should go away. But we never had to do that. It's also much lighter than I thought, with a handle on the back that makes it easy to carry from room to room. I highly recommend it.

This is my first air purifier. My parents have had them in their home and we have one at my office, but I’ve never purchased one myself and I wasn’t sure what to look for. After a lot of research and reading a lot of online reviews, I decided the Winix was the best bet.It was super easy to set up. When I plugged it in, the light instantly turned red and the fan went into turbo mode so I assumed my air quality was pretty bad. But it didn’t take long to go back down to blue. When it changed back to blue so fast I started to wonder if I even needed an air purifier. If it was registering my air quality is as good, what was I paying for? Boy was I wrong. That night I slept better than I have in a long time. No more waking up in the middle of the night because my nose was stuffing up from allergies. No more waking up with itchy eyes.I did let it run on high for the first few days hoping that it would catch most of the air that was circulating through my apartment and then I turned it back to the auto setting. The auto setting is pretty fantastic. It tries to keep the fan on low which is virtually silent. It definitely senses changes in the air. If I spray dry shampoo in the bathroom down the hall with the door open when I get ready in the morning, the air purifier light turns red and it kicks up to a higher setting. I also think that it has become more sensitive the longer it has been running. It now kicks on when I heat up a microwave meal. It also kicks on if I’m stirring up a lot of dust when cleaning the litter box.I’ve only had this air purifier for a few weeks but I’ve already noticed a huge difference and I can see that it’s working when it kicks on when I do certain things. I was a little hesitant about paying for such a high-end machine when I wasn’t sure what I even needed, but I’m so glad I went with this model. It’s working perfectly for me and it was worth every penny!
