Nice looking unit, but poor quality, poor warranty

This is the second time we purchase a wine fridge from Zephyr. Our first Zephyr wine cooler failed after a year with a defective door sensor which was promptly shipped to us, the repair was easy and under warranty. Our second unit had its compressor failed after less than two years of usage, which I've learned wasn't fully covered by the warranty even after a relative short amount of time. The repair was estimated to be over $1,400 (of which $900 of uncovered labor cost)! Their customer care team explained to us that the warranty started at the date of purchase, not delivery, which for us was a 9-month difference. The poor quality of this product is very disappointing as you would expect more reliable parts and superior warranty terms for such a high-end item. Also beware that while Zephyr is headquartered in California, their wine fridges are apparently made in China.
