Best small smoker for the price

A perfect size smoker for a small family. Performed excellently, needed new chips every two hours. A foil pan on bottom sheet makes drip clean up easy. Very happy with it.

[Rewarded Review] Overall not bad

Smoker works pretty well the dial for temp should have numbers instead of colora. No protector for the heating element. Could see it burning out quicker. My firat smoke was 2 pork butss, half a brisket, and 2 racks if ribs

Why the cost difference?

This was easy enough to put together. However, it is $30 cheaper on Cuisinart's website, with a $25 discount and free shipping, making it $225. Also, there is no cooking time guide. There could be a few recipes to make up for the increased costs.

Got this for my husband for his birthday! I wanted to go with the electric one for him so he didn’t have to worry about fussing over and keeping the charcoal hot. He’s very excited to use this product. It’s sturdy and well made

Good product not much smoke

Nice well built electric smoke. Large capacity for meat and heats quickly and retains heat well. Smoke box doesn’t produce much smoke so I used a smoke tube to help it along. Overall a good product. I would recommend.

Very easy to put together. Will say that the instructions to use the smoker were not very helpful. We went online to troubleshoot no smoke. Found out best to use chips/no water/ on the highest setting for 30 minutes to get the smoke started. Then put in food and lower temp. When the chips burn it’s best to have chips already hot (we used the stove) to replace the burned ones and then put the water in to slower the burn.

Nothing better than smoked food!

Cuisinart Vertical 30 inch electric smoker.Great to use in summer heat but the flavor is similar to any BBQ restaurant around.Simple to set up and looks so cool on my patio. I am using it to cook chicken and steak with wood chips soaked in beer. Load up with protein and vegetables and you have lunch and dinner. I lightly salt and pepper and let the wood chips flavor the food.

Great gift

I received this for Father’s Day and have use it twice already. Both times the meat came out very tender and my family & friends enjoyed it. I didn’t want a smoker I had to fuss over so the electric option is perfect for that reason. My only disappointment is that at the low temperature setting the smoker doesn’t create hardly any smoke…I have to raise the temperature to get it to smoke. (Which means I have to lower it to get a slow cook…which makes it fussy.) Still very happy with this product. It ticks nearly all the boxes for me!

Not recommended

This thing regardless of where you set the dial can double in temperature out of nowhere. For an electric smoker it's actually really bad at producing smoke and keeping a steady temperature for long periods of time. I tried making jerky in it over night, it maintained close to 160 for 4 hours, then I wake up to it being 360 degrees. I dont understand how a product like this can just vary that drastically.

It was a great and well made product out of...

It was a great and well made product out of the box. It is my 3rd smoker, as I wanted something I could set and forget that would also go very low on temp on a consistent basis, as vertical smokers are the most efficient. It does leak down the legs rather into the gathering dish at the bottom, but who cares. One tip would be to never pre soak the wood chips and to keep an eye on them and even replace if you want decent smoke from this electric.

Powder Coating Bubbling and Peeling

We purchased in July last year. Used several times last summer. Stored inside during winter months. Pulled it out to use today. Smoked a turkey breast. When we went put it away and noticed the powder coating bubbling and peeling around the door. Would think it should last longer than a year. Especially, when stored inside both when not in use and over winter.

Hurts lungs. Burns chips too quckly.

Burns wood chips within 45 minutes, and causes smoke inhalation lung damage when you open the door to change it. As you have to change it every 30 minutes, temperature within never stabilizes enough to properly bring meat to temperature. Useless.

Dangerous purchase

Horrible. It shorted out the outlet we plugged it into. Thinking it was an issue with the outlet we tried a different one, same result. This purchase ended up costing us money because we have to hire an electrician to replace the shorted out outlets. Do not purchase this item. We are lucky we didn’t get electrocuted by it.

[Rewarded Review] Excellent electric smoker at a great price

I had some experience with smoking meats prior to purchasing this. I needed something small and electric, and this fit the bill. I have used it to smoke fall-off-the-bone ribs, as well as chicken. My only complaint is the cord length. The instructions(as well as common sense) state that the unit should be operated at least 10 feet from any structure, but the cord they supply is only about five and a half feet long. It also states in the instructions that the unit should only be hooked directly to a gfci outlet, so that rules out extension cords. But aside from that, this is a solidly built unit, that absolutely can get the job done.

Easy to Use Smoker

This is a fairly easy smoker to use. The control takes some time to learn just where to get the most accurate temperature. The recommendation to 'oil' down the inside just makes the smoker harder to keep clean. They don't tell you when it arrives to remove the small wires attaching the burn element to the bottom shelf as part of the unpacking, so I waited 2 days for them to call back and tell me, yes, remove them. Otherwise, I'm pleased with its results.

[Rewarded Review] Dissatisfied

When i recieved package i was impressed. Turned on for 3hrs for curing process was still fairly impressed with how quickly it heated up. The weekend after i got it had family over for a cookout and tryed the new smoker and was quickly disappointed. The heat adjustment has a short and took almost 10 hrs for my chicken to get to temp. Called customer service next day talked to 3 different people and all put me on hold for approximately 10 min a piece, when the last one told me that their wasnt nothing they could do to help I was livid and still have a smoker that doesnt work.

HELP!

I purchased from Amazon your electric smoker COS-330 this summer with reserves. It costs more than twice the price of those two I have bought here in Huntsville. I could no longer find them here. I followed directions, spraying and curing the inside. Then I put the wet chips in their box and water in the water box. I placed four young whole chickens on the three shelves, and left them for less than 12 hours on a medium heat. They were delicious looking. That is the best I can say for them. There was no smoke flavor because the chips never got to burn, only slightly brown. They tasted like any chicken cooked in a regular oven. The inside of the smoker was a disaster, burned looking and nasty with the juices from the meat falling to the floor of the smoker. I spent a good amount of time just trying to get the mess cleaned up. I have not used it since and consider it a failure for which it was designed to be used. In an email to Cuisinart, I asked for a rectangular pan to slide on the shelf holding the water and chip boxes . It should cover the size of the floor of the smoker and be at least 2 inches high. I can put water in it and it will catch the juices as they fall. The chips can now rest on the floor and be slowly burned, giving smoke to the meat. Someone who received my email agreed to furnish me a pan. I am grateful for this response. Without the pan, your smoker is useless and I recommend that it be removed from your product listings. I DO have a Cuisinart counter oven which makes the best toast I have ever eaten. It is a winner.

Great for smoking newbies like me!! My first try was 2 racks of ribs and a brisket. The St. Louis ribs took way longer than expected, but the brisket came out perfect on a 20-hr cook. I use 3 chunks and fill the rest with chips (all soaked). It lasts ~12 hours. The water will last that long ONLY if your meat is above 150 and you can cook on a lower setting (first yellow). So plan to add water more frequently for the first half of the cook and cook on high. It will heat to 350F when empty but struggles to get to 225 when initially loaded with food. I put a muffin tin on top of the wood pan and a lasagna tin on top as a drip pan so that I can use all 3 racks and protect the element. I knocked 1 star for a few reasons: 1. Too narrow (ribs / brisket touch the sides and sometimes have to be smushed slightly). 2. Grease escapes front door at the sticker and comes out at the legs rather than funnel to the drip pan. 3. Temp probe sits just above the top rack, interfering with food or being too close to cold meat. Smoke does leaks out of the door, but I’m ok with that. The door latch is awesome and the rack design to stop half way is very handy. I let it sit for a month out side and covered with no issues

Love it!

This smoker was packaged well. It was very easy to assemble. It took longer to unpackaged then to assemble. It came out of the box in perfect condition. Once assembled I seasoned it per instructions.Iset it around 375 and let it go for two hours. I bought a oven thermometer and placed it inside to test the accuracy of the door thermometer and pleasantly pleased by that the both matched. I played around a bit to tune in the temp I wanted. The next day I smoked a corned beef brisket. I used cherry wood chips in the chip box. I preaheated around 275 and one up to temp I put the brisket in and turned the temp back to between 225 to 250. I played around with the temp dial until I got my temp. I preaheated at 275 as I think a little higher heat helped get my wood chips going. The brisket was awesome with excellent taste. It takes a while at low temps but was well worth the wait. I checked it every hour and a half or so to make sure the water pan was full and added a few more wood chips once. When I checked the water I would spritz the brisket with a water apple cider mixture in a spray bottle half and half to help with moisture. Tommorow a Boston butt. I am extremely happy with this purchase. It seems well built a comes with a three year warranty from cuisinart.
