Love it
These rain barrels are very solid and do the trick. Collect enough rain from our gutters to water all of our foundation plantings and our seedlings this spring. Connected another barrel as well to catch overflow. Wish we could use them during winter but materials will not support this where we live.
rain barrel is holding up well; I like the spigot.
The “planter” on top I was excited about. However, there are Zero drainage holes. So it fills up with rain water and would drown all plants and therefore I have no plants or flowers in it. Unfortunately for me in FL it is just a breeding ground for mosquitoes ! I drilled a couple holes in the bottom of the‘planter’ to let water drain into the barrel. But it always has some water in the planter for mosquitoes, unless the barrel has been used up before the next rain. But in the Tropics, the next rain is any minute now. I do like the the design part that doesn’t need to be under a gutter spout as I have no gutters. I have it catching the runoff from my flat roof where the rain runs mostly to the one corner of the house. I did add a wire mesh about the drain hole with extra piece of screen to keep out debris. But also to outsmart the raccoon who had punched or chewed through the included screen protection that wasn’t enough. Also simply put on top of 2 cinder blocks. They work just as well as any raised base. They were on my property already, and no one is looking down on them with iris around the bottom. I would not recommend it because of the stupid unusable planter
It does not look like the picture. The black bands are all scuffed up. There is no way you are going to fit your arm in the given hole to screw on parts. Both of mine and my husband arms are both scraped up. The size is great but it is got to be for a downspout and not a chain. And it was sent to my old address from 2018. That is probably my fault though.
The rain barrels do not look like this at all. They are one color - no variation for the barrel vs straps. The spigot is always stopped up and will not drain. We tried to hook up a hose for it to drain, but it still will not drain. We have to tump it over on it's side to empty it. It is a complete waste of money and now our time. The only reason I gave this product two stars is because it does store rain water - it just is not usable. Would never recommend theres rain barrels to anyone.
Easy assembly...top quality materials...it looks beautiful in my yard!
Good product- makes a great water storage vessel. Easy to set up.
Product as described It still requires you to drill holes if you choose to add overflow drains. Instructions are clear and simple to follow to do it
Quality construction, this is a very attractive plastic version of an authentic barrel. The addition of a top planter rounds this out to be a real winner!
Cute barrel might benefit from a few redesign concepts. Prep work, you will need to drill holes in the planter if you want to put plants up top. (but then you have a soil in the water issue), so perhaps leaving the plants in their pots is a good idea. If it rains hard though the plants will be flooded. So how can we resolve this, perhaps a drain like a sink with a hose to outside instead of inside the barrel? There is some work in putting the faucet on, attaching the unit to the gutter, etc. Most is expected if you are buying a rain barrel but unfortunately the hole with the screen is where you reach your hand through and it is pretty small. Our barrel came dented from shipping, but Wayfair has been great. I am sure all of you gardening engineers out there can revise this cute barrel easily, hope the ideas were helpful.
Perfect for our needs.
Sturdy water catch barrel that looks great against my house.
Perfect rain barrel & easy to set up
I love this rain barrel! It gives my yard to an antique look. ❤️❤️❤️
Slightly annoying that they don’t mention you’ll need a 1 inch hole saw to assemble the overflow tube. Other than that, it’s solid. Large area for plants. Looks exactly like the picture.
It works well but the opening is pretty small. The bottom thread was helpful bit installing the over flow was challenging, I had to enlist my 6 year old to help.
Love them ! Super cute outside with a nice colorful plant on top!
Great purchase! Smaller size which is perfect!!!!
Although this rain barrel looks lovely, and it seems like a great idea to be able to plant flowers on top and have a screen to deter mosquitoes and other pests from getting into the water, the whole design is fraught with flaws. First, in order to connect the drain hole lock nut and O-ring, you have to find an unreasonably skinny and LONG arm to fit through the very small removable screen top, which is all scratchy rectangular plastic, to reach into the barrel to connect the pieces. Then, if you want to fill the planter with soil and plants you likely wouldn't want to drill drain holes in order to avoid soil filtering into your water and possibly clogging the drainage. However, if you don't insert drain holes, every time it rains your planter is going to be flooded. Like me, you may end up removing the plants from the planter, planting them in pots, and standing the pots in the planter. But that doesn't solve the flooding issue when it rains or when the overflow overflows into the planter and floods it. Even without plants in the planter, you end up after each rain with a big basin of standing water, rife for mosquitoes. And it's not easy to remove the multiple gallons of water the planter holds. Finally, now that the barrel is full, there's no easy way to resolve these issues--e.g., figuring out how to permanently seal up the plant basin--until the barrel is empty. Hence, you either live with a dysfunctional barrel or you find a way to empty it and live without one. Terrible design. Don't be lured by its good looks. I would give this 0 stars if I could.
