Don’t know where all the 5 star rating come from

First thing I saw after opening the box is the warped wire shelves, not impressed, they might work fine but I don’t like it. Then I noticed some of the support straps were deformed where the bolt holes were located. The metal is pretty thin as mentioned by other comments. I’m expecting a bit more for a shelf that costs 200+ dollars and I’m not even bothering putting this together

Solidly built and easy to assemble. The instructions were pretty good, but it is important to pay attention to the details. I missed a (small) instruction about a decorative cover on the first one I assembled. The assembly is straightforward, however and should not take more than 15 to 30 minutes to put together. a subsequent one goes together faster once you have assembled the first one.

Everything was great quality and easy to install. Except the clips that hold down the wire shelves. The instructions for that were terrible. Once figured out it went OK. Better instructions would really help.

Storage shelf was easy to assemble (except for the shelf clips) and is very sturdy. Was very well packaged and received with no damage. Overall very happy with this storage shelf, would purchase this again and highly recommended!!

Sale price of $120 made this a bargain. Padded feet and bracing help make this a really solid setup. Well-boxed for shipping, good instructions and bagged little pieces. Make sure not to tighten everything at the beginning - it's in the instructions. Hardest part is step of getting metal clips onto metal grids to hold them in place but it's doable. Worst part is if you want to change height of a shelf you have to deconstruct it back to that point: thought I had counted up the notches on front and back two times to get it right height but missed somehow on one of the shelves, so am living with it for now. I really like the yellow and black look too.

Very sturdy shelving with reasonably easy assembly

I purchased the wire shelf version of this unit as the price was too good to pass up. I was concerned that the wire shelves might be flimsy but it was clear on opening the box that they are not. The assembly instructions make it look harder than it is for most parts, and easier than it is for others (the darn shelf clips). I am a 69 year old female and I assembled it myself. This shelving unit is a beast - heavy, sturdy and nice looking. I like it so much that I promptly ordered a second one.

These are built like a tank. I ordered 2 of them 1st one went together with no issues. The 2nd one I had to fight to get the screws to line up for the frame. Not a huge deal but took a bit of effort with a awl. You are able to stack or join them side by if needed it comes with the needed brackets. They are really solid and you could put anything on them.

Excellent Storage Racks

I have quite a few Dewalt items in my shop. several 6' storage racks. 6 Dewalt shop stools, 4 roller stools and finally this 4' storage rack. All of the Dewalt items in my opinion are exceptionally well made, very good quality, Solid and looks great. I will continue buying their products as long as the quality remains the same.

Assemble very easily.

This shelving unit is very sturdy, it assembled in less then 15 minutes and looks great in my workshop. The bright yellow color makes it look industrial and it could be if wanted to. I opted for this one because of the 18" wide shelves. Some 24" from another brand were available elsewhere but would have been to wide for me.

Easy to handle, able to withstand heavy use.

I am a 5'0" woman. I put together 5 shelves, daisy chained, with three sections stacked, in 5 hours, by myself (including leveling feet bought elsewhere). That time frame included changing around shelving heights when some of my pre-planning turned out not to my liking. The shelves are super easy to assemble, with individual parts not being tremendously heavy or unwieldy. I took 45 minutes to organize all hardware and lay out my assembly so everything was facing the same direction. I am using these in my carport to organize my "garage mess". The shelves are rock solid, super heavy duty, and should outlast me!

I had a specific spot in the garage to fit a shelf unit. It had to be strong, good quality, and reasonably priced - Oh, and look sharp too! The Dewalt unit met all my requirements. Packed extremely well, easy to assemble (once I figured out the directions), good fit/finish, and super sturdy. Definitely worth the money! A high quality product.

Great shelves!

Great shelves. Very heavy duty and were fairly easy to put together. I would recommend them over the Gladiator shelves of similar size. The great thing about these shelves is that they had three cross members underneath the wire shelves. The similar sized Gladiator shelves only had one cross members which lead to the Gladiator shelves bowing when weigh was applied.

Super Strong Unit

I bought two of these unit and eventually combined with the Dewalt Workbench. Easy enough to put together even without the awful instructions. While the shelves are adjustable you have to disassemble them to move them. You can’t just remove the locking pins and move the shelf. Combines easily with the Dewalt 4-ft storage rack workbench.

Sturdy, useful and good looking shelving at bargain price

This is definitely a Dewalt product - brilliant yellow and built to last. Of the 5 metal shelves I’ve put together, this has the easiest assembly, about 90 minutes by myself. I ordered another and suspect it will take me an hour or less. They suggest two people for assembly which is not necessary but would be helpful.

This a great shelving unit! I was a bit intimidated after quickly looking at the instructions. First of all, I'm a senior woman (who does have lots of tools), but have a hard time reading fine print...and these instructions are quite "fine." But I took my time, and when they said it would be good to have someone help at a particular stage, I just used stacks of boxes to "hold it." I got it done! And they are perfect for my need--strong, sturdy.

I purchased one wire rack unit and and four black panel rack units online. They arrived on time. All five went together flawlessly. As an engineer, I thought the pieces and assembly process was intuitive and well thought out. Even after disassembling three of them a few times to get the spacing that I desired, everything fit well. I combined and stacked them to create three, eight foot, five shelf units side by side by sharing the columns. The wire racks were placed on the lowest shelves. Two columns were left over and will be used for a custom drill press stand. I did use the anti-tipping brackets and found them sufficient. Though I did borrow another reviewer’s idea and used a screw, fender washer and nut in each cutout to firm up the stacked columns as the stacking brackets did not feel completely secure even with the pins. Overall, I am satisfied with the quality, capacity, assembly and color match of the units.

Imprecise engineering and construction, some poor material quality, and an inability to buy add on shelving kits!

I bought fifty of these shelves on sale after reading the reviews and researching youtube videos on this product. The reviews and videos in my view overstate the quality of the product. The bad: Material construction is imprecise with variable sizes for the same parts. Corresponding bolts fit differently in corresponding nuts, and the bolts get stripped with the slightest pressure. The bolts have to be carefully seated by hand and very gently tightened, and some are impossible to properly seat and are a struggle to tighten. Some of the parts (U-bracket covers) do not fit properly so they have to be retrofitted to assemble the legs... most will fit in place but require some fidgeting. Once assembled the units are slightly contorted, so the wire grids do not fit perfectly into place (but the unit sit firmly and even on the ground). A little pressure has to be applied to the wire grid shelves and the clips are necessary to keep them in place. If you need more than three shelves per unit for your application it is not possible to purchase add on kits with additional crossbeams and wire grids, like competitor products, despite the system being modular. You have to buy additional units and discard the legs to get the additional shelving! The good: once assembled the shelves look very impressive and professional, they are strong, and they are functional. The bottom line: These are not precision engineered products, but they perform well once assembled. These shelves however are being sold at a premium to their competitors, some of which I also have, and while they look nicer, they are inferior build quality to cheaper products. Because the screws are of poor quality it will be impossible to disassemble the vertical assemblies (ie legs) if there was ever a need to do so. Finally, the Youtube videos I watched show bolts being inserted and tightened with a drill but that was not possible with the shelves I received. The videos skip over the shelving grids being dropped into place, only showing the final product, and show none of the fidgeting with parts that is necessary to assemble these shelves. Ummmm. The assembly manual is a challenge to follow, so if you do buy these watch the short Youtube videos, which make assembly much easier than following the manual. I would have given these a 2.5 star rating if that was possible, because they are strong, functional, and look good once assembled. I have taken away three stars because they are an aggravation to assemble, you cannot get additional shelves, the vertical assemblies (ie legs) cannot be disassembled once put together, and because the screws get stripped with the slightest pressure.

Well made shelves, but a little tricky to put together

Nice, heavy duty shelves with plenty if support. End cross braces take a couple steps, so read the directions closely (if you can, I don't know why they insist on printing them in about a No. 4 font). Support retention pins are really clever and much easier to install than anyone else's. Only minor issue I found is that the wire shelf retention clips were designed for a thicker shelf. No problem, just take a pair of pump pliers and squeeze each end until top and bottom almost touch. Then install as per directions

Very nice heavy duty shelves that were easy to put together. The YouTube related video made the building and installation of these shelves to our garage walls very easy. Home Depot shipped them to us in 3 days. They were also priced right due to a sale as compared with other shelves of this caliber that I have looked at. I have really cleaned up the floor in the garage due to the large amounts of "stuff" I have put on these shelves.
