I gave this 4 stars because 1) too early to tell whether it will continue to operate outdoors over time and 2) the assembly of the light unit to the motor unit was a pain, especially the wiring harness connection as the wires were almost too short to snap the connector together. Although successful in the end, I struggled with, and sweated over this for too long.

An Oder of 5 Fans Arrived After A Month’s Wait

I’m sure the fans will work well, but we just received the last of the fire fans we ordered a month ago today!

Fan is great, but instructions seem ridiculous

I like this fan, now that we have it installed. We followed the installation instructions carefully, step by step (and I have put up a fan before). What was very difficult, and didn't seem necessary, was that the blades and the light assembly were all instructed to be installed after getting the main motor up, and the electrical wires attached so everything was done while the motor hung from the ceiling. We were instructed to attach the blades in place (3 screws each), and then to attach the light fixture we had to put a small screw up through a tangle of wiring to attach it to the motor casing. This was ridiculously difficult on a ladder with the unit free to swing on its ceiling support. I think it would not be a problem to tell people to put the whole thing together before attaching it to the ceiling and wiring it up. Yes, it would be slightly heavier, but the weight is supported by the ceiling bracket so once it's in place, wiring is not a problem. It was very frustrating to follow the directions exactly and then have screws and washers continually falling while we tried to get them into the fan blades above our head, while the fixture was swinging. Please review your instructions.

Simple fan moves a lot of air. Installation instructions were mostly clear. Installation took longer than expected, but it works.

Ok, look, this is a small fan, more than capable for a room or area less than 300 sf. What I liked is the aspect of being able to add my own bulbs for extra brightness. I also remove to paint frosting from the lens cover using lacquer thinner. Keep in mind, there is no remote, but if you run two circuits up to fan you can control the light and fan separately.

The light kit installation can be very difficult

The installation of the light kit was definitely not designed for ease of assembly: 3 tiny screws need to be installed through a bundle of wires- 2 initially partially installed then the third installed after the 9 pin connector is connected. Two of us attempted to do this (the installation manual does not even show the wired in the instruction. The basic fan assembly went smoothly, but we spent at least 45 minutes fighting with lining up these screws....very frustrating. The fan and light appear to be functioning OK.

Perfect for my bedroom

I loved how easy this was to put together. It is a lot quieter than my old fan as well. I’m happy that I swapped them out.

Surprising Design

This small fan was perfect for my kitchen which is surrounded by windows that make this the coldest room in the house. Using the reverse fan setting my husband stopped wearing extra layers of clothing and felt the room warm up within a short time. I did get the wall mounted remote switch since the pull strings are over the table. I did not expect the light to be dimmable but it does so from the switch! And the fan lets light out thru an opening in the housing that adds a remarkable visual effect when the fan turns that is stunning!

Don't let the Aker's small size fool you -- this thing can throw some air! Even on low in my small 9x 12 bedroom it's enough to feel the cool.Pros: Design, love the Scandi look; color (black with dark walnut blades, nice!); quiet; wobble-free; it's a Hunter fanCons: Not the easiest to install, but not overly difficult either; the light output is horrible.The lighting is the primary reason for my four star rating. I have two 5000k, 840 lumen bulbs installed and the room is still dark. So very, very disappointing. I know it's the light fixture design causing the issue because the ceiling light the fan replaced used the same bulbs and lighted the room perfectly.I will try 1100 lumen bulbs if I can find any suitable for use in totally enclosed luminaires. If I can and it works, I will come back and edit to 5 stars; if it doesn't work, I will come back and edit it to 2 stars. Less
