Beautiful. Sleek. Couldn’t be happier. Quiet.
Terrible fan, save your money
I bought three of these for different rooms on different floors. They all made a low hum noice to the point it wasn't comfortable being in the room while they were running. They also "talked" to each other so that the ones on the second floor were operated by using the wall control on the first floor. I noted all this for Casablanca and they sent new fans. The second round of fans still produced the noice but they "talked" appropriately. Casablance then offered to replace them all again but would not offer any type of refund because 45 days had lapsed from the original purchase date. They are such a poor quality fan I eventually replaced all three with a different brand of fan that works great. I would not recommend this fan at all.
Modern Ceiling Fan
The fan looks great! Love the modern style and clean lines. Instructions were clear enough that I was able to install the fixture by myself. The fan runs well and is quiet, too. The light can get pretty bright so I leave it on the medium setting usually.
The fan is quiet and very powerful with multiple settings. However the light is a horrible yellow tint and hurts the eyes, from dim through full brightness. A modern fan like this should allow users to be able to change the color temperature from yellow to bright daylight around the 5000k range.
Sent me a broken fan
The fan is loud on low settings. All you hear is WAAHHH WAHH WAHH, the motor is so loud. It is clearly faulty. If you are outside of 45 days from purchase, you are stuck with it. Just a heads up for those looking to purchase. Dont be like me, buy from a major chain locally that will take returns. Not everyone can hire a professional to do 5 fans inside of 45 days from order date.
You can always expect quality from Casablanca. This fan is quiet and simple to operate. We installed the wall mounted control but to the best of my knowledge you can also purchase separately a universal handheld remote from Casablanca as well. Overall we are pleased with the look in our new home.
remote wall control.
i have a fan with a hand held remote, that works just fine. i have two of this particular model. i love them. sleek, contemporary, and quiet. i find trying to use the remote wall control to be a bit of a difficult. i have some memory issues. when we have a power outage i have to reprogram the control. Right now the fan is on low, that is fine. i am having difficulty with the light. i cannot get it to dim or brighten. its stuck. i can never remember how to do the reprogram.
Great Fan
The Casablanca 54" Commodus description is spot on. Additionally, it provides plenty of light, from dim to bright; and low to high settings for fan. Even though there are only 3 blades, it still move air around as good as the traditional ones, and is very quite. What I found pleasing is that the blades are a Matt silver, & not the metallic silver as the mount. Just a heads up; because the mount is thicker around, the blades are shorter. We placed one in our large living space (as pictured) & the other in a 10' x 10' room, and it is not to wide. I'm glad I didn't order the smaller, it would have not looked as good. One is hardwired, and the other is working great with just the battery feature. The wall remotes are aesthetically pleasing, and I find not hunting around for remotes a plus.
Minor quibbles on a good fan and light.
The light is nice and bright, but the dimmer function is slow to adjust. The largest complaint s the noisy beep when turning the light on and off. The only other complaint I can think of is the instruction manual is incomplete. There is a procedure in setup to enable the dimmer function that we had to call the manufacturer to get. It should be in the manual as it is a simple hold two buttons down for 5 seconds. In the end I'm happy with the fan and lights.
Great product BAD packaging
I ordered a Casablanca. First time I called I asked the sales person (a man) if the model had the wisp motor. He said I had to call Casablanca for that info. I hung up on him and called again. Got a lovely lady that took the time to compare the motor model of the fan I wanted with the wisp motor model and verified that it was the same motor. I thanked her and suggested to her to get some coffee to the previous salesman I got. Smooth, quiet, zero vibrating at any speed. The top 2 piece ring of the assembly came damaged/disfigured and they couldn't fit to each other, I had to hammer them to shape and the they obviously cracked (aluminum). BAD BAD packaged and that is the problem ordering on line. To ship it back and expect replacement with Covid you are looking at a month delay
Excellent for Bedrooms
I love this fan. It is perfect to keep air moving for ideal sleeping conditions.

The fan and light works well. However, the "audible confirmation" of turning the fan on or off, the light on or off, or changing light level/fan speed is incredibly annoying. See YouTube for details. I do not recall seeing this on the description, but don't doubt that it is there. Be warned of the beeps...there is no way to turn them on or off unless you take the fan apart and rip the speaker out.
4 but could be a 5
love the look of the fan. It's very clean looking and moves air around well. It has a wall mount control that doesn't need to be wired. But I would like to know if I can purchase a remote for it? But do I also need to install a receiver? If this gets answered I would rate it 5 out of 5. Especially if I can avoid having to get out of bed to turn off the fan! Rattled alittle but a balance and weight fixed it!
Annoying Beeping
There is no way to turn off the audible beep button confirmation as far as I can tell. Other than that, the fan is gorgeous and low profile, I love the aesthetics, the quality and attention to detail (other than the dang beeping,) and it works well. The light temperature is *perfect*...always a concern when buying LED online, but they did a great job with it here. If the beeping doesn't bother you, it's a beautiful low-profile fan.

This fan with LED Light should receive five stars since it is not only attractive but the fan is also efficient in both directions. Control of this fan+light is at the wall switch which is provided. Upon completion of the installation I discovered that the LED light dimmer control is not working. The light is fixed at a rather low level of brightness and the dimmer control doesn't function at all. The light is either on or off. Hopefully, the issue is with the wall dimmer control and not with the integrated light kit receiver. This part failure is covered for one year and I expect it will be replaced.

This is a very nice looking fan. The fan comes with pictorial instructions, making it very easy to understand the steps to install the fan. I was nervous when I realized that the remote is integrated into the wall switches and our location had multiple switches. But the instructions do state how to install in a multiple gang situation. I did have to buy an accommodating wall plate separately. The LED light means low cost and no bulbs to replace.

The Casablanca Commodus low profile ceiling fan by Hunter is far superior to the builders model fan in my New house in The Villages. I installed the Casablanca myself following the instructions. This fan does not "hang". It is screwed tight to the ceiling bracket, thus it must be installed on a flat ceiling. It is extremely well balanced, it did not require any adjustment. The fan and light are assembled one piece at a time on the ceiling. The wall switch fit into the existing receptacle. The wall switch required two batteries that were included. There was not a true "remote" that I expected, only the wall switch. The reverse mode works well in our bedroom to equalize temperature .

Mechanically this fan is extremely well made. Operation is smooth and quiet, the light could be a little brighter, but it is acceptable. The fan has multiple speeds. At its highest setting it certainly moves a lot of air. Personally, I use it at a speed less than max and that's plenty. I have installed a lot of fans (all types and mountings). The ceiling mount portion of the installation was simple, like most other fans of this type. I started to run into problems on the electrical side. First of all, I was expecting a traditional remote, but this fan has a wired switch which controls every aspect of the fan/light assembly. I have a two switch wall setup in which one switch powers the fan and the other powers the light. The instructions cover both a single and dual wall switch arrangement. Problem is, both sets of instructions are identical. In fact the dual switch picture doesn't show any connections to the second switch. I followed the instructions for dual switches but I couldn't get my traditional light switch to control the fan light (as the directions indicated). I thought about it a while and realized the power to the "VAC" on the fan switch has to come through the traditional wall switch. Once I wired it that way, then I could control the light and basically power to the fan switch from my traditional light switch (power ON/OFF to the fan wall switch). The fan wall switch has batteries in it. The batteries are installed from the back of the switch, which means, when they go dead, it would require turning power off at the breaker panel, pulling the switch and replacing the batteries (doesn't seem like the best design). There was supposed to be a battery cover, but my assembly doesn't have one (I looked everywhere for it). Finally, a couple of points. The indicators on the light switch for "power", "light", and "fan" should have a small led in them so they can be seen at night. Good luck trying to adjust the fan in the dark without turning the light on first. Also, there has to be a way to turn the beeps/tones off. These sound whenever an adjustment is made. I wouldn't want this in a baby's room, when you finally put the baby down and quietly sneak out of the room, but first lower the fan or dim the light... it sets off a series of beeps and tones, probably enough to wake the baby. Otherwise, it's a great fan in terms of quality, but the functionality is a bit lacking. Most of all I was looking for a traditional remote which controls the fan and light from other than the switch.

Casablanca is a great fan company. That's the first reason I ordered it. I love ceiling fans! I only wanted to replace mine because I wanted a remote like this advertises. Unfortunately it doesn't come with a remote control, it comes with a wall switch that controls the fan and is hard wired. I'm deeply disappointed. It is a quality item and very nice looking, but it isn't what I was looking for.
[Rewarded Review] Quiet and efficient fan
Installed this fan in my family room and it is great. I cannot hear it at all when it is on its lowest setting. The low setting doesn't push much air, but it is enough to keep the air in the room from feeling stagnant and helps to distribute the cold air coming out of the ac. It really made a difference on some recent 100+ F days. Noise on higher settings mostly comes from the blades pushing air, not from the motor. Overall, I consider this a very quiet fan. The low profile fits well in my 8 foot ceiling.
