End results is good, though super hard to install
It is definitely not an easy job to put it together properly, especially when you want to slide it the gasket around the plexiglass into the grooves.
This is a sturdy product. We put it over a door and we picked a wider one so we could stand to the side and unlock the door. It’s made it thru one winter and one summer so far in good condition.
Highly recommend. We used this for protecting our water fountain. It is a perfect size to keep out falling debris and the tinted material helps filter out the heat and damage from the sun. It can easily be assembled by one person, but it would be easier to have 2 for the install.
My damaged awning needed to be replaced and I wanted to replace it with something more modernistic. After an exhaustive search, I chose this Advaning polycarbonate clear-top awning for many reasons: 1) I liked that it can hold up to 550-lbs of snow, since we get a lot of snow here. 2) The clear top is awesome because when the floodlight is on at night, I can clearly see the lock to unlock my door (versus my old awning that had a solid top, thus blocking all the light) 3) The aesthetics is amazing - looks 1,000 times better than my old one (see picture of old and new awning side-by-side below), 4) The curved lip at the end is super handy because it forces rain to either side. My old awning went straight down, meaning I had to walk through a waterfall every time it rained. 5) decorative lag bolt covers were included to give it that finishing touch. I'm super happy with this awning!
Easy to install. Provides protection desired. Came with a bent bracket which is noticeable when looking at it straight on. Fortunately it was installed on the back of the house over a door and the angle with the bent bracket is going away from the house and window. Because of this I chose not to return it.
Product was perfect for the job. Easy assembly. Easy install.
Faded after a year but does keep rain off the door most of the time. I do not feel it is worth what it costs but options are few so if you need a little roof over your door this works.
It's alright but it really does not block the rain. The rain leaks through the part where the awning meets the wall and from the sides.
Complete garbage
Ok so first off really wobbly, and you are supposed to put a beat of silicone between a rubber seal and the plexiglass, well good luck getting the aluminum rail into that seal with that wobbly plexiglass, it’s pretty much impossible is you are a DIY person without a professional table to hold this entire assembly together, ended up just using silicone to attach plexiglass to aluminum rails, probably won’t last long but probably cant return now full of silicone, just stay away or buy it assembled
Very Nice Awning, Looks Great
Simple to assemble and easy to install. Looks great, meets all expectations. Note: weatherstripping adhesive is called for in the assembly instructions but not included. It is a very necessary step, so don't let it slide.
Sturdy, looks nice and does the job. I purchased this to install over a set of French doors opening out on my deck. I wanted something clear because the winter sunlight heats my home saving me $$$. The first order was damaged but Home Depot sent another one immediately. Can’t speak to the installation as I had it professionally installed.
The worst assembly problems I have ever had. The metal edge at the top and bottom requires that you insert a rubber stripping over the plexiglass and then push the groove in the over both. This is not at all easy, requiring pounding with a rubber mallet and a piece of wood. Pound a bit too hard at one end, and the other end pops out. This seemly simple task took 2 hours of frustrating labor. It should have come with this already assembled- no reason for not. The rest of the assembly (attaching the support bars) was not difficult. I have not yet installed it on the building. I don't recommend anyone suffer through this.
Good! Got it installed two months before. Will see if it is good enough in the wintertime.
Wish Id bought this sooner! Makes rainy days more bearable and looks cool, too. Ive received many compliments on it.
This awning was darker than I expected. You can't really see through it, but that's fine since we got it primarily for a sunshade on a window.
This is a great canopy for our front door. It is really good quality and seems sturdy although it's too soon to say if it will withstand a snowfall. It was relatively simple to put together, but it does require a bit of work and definitely two people. Water does not come in if you install the gasket. Provides a nice, elegant entrance at a reasonable price. Shipping was as expected.
The quality of the awning is very good, The rubber stripping (toward the house mounted on the metal) was very loose and fell of many times in the install process. They could have included some glue/rubber cement, for the user to optionally uses or not use, even if it was some hours to dry. In contrast, the rubber stripping on the poly-carbonate plates (outside edge) was very snug.
Simple DIY lightweight awning at reasonable cost
Likes - well made and sturdy clear polycarbonate awning and strong aluminum brackets / light weight / simple bolt to wall installation (ours is a stucco wall) / good value…Overall we like the product and it looks sharp mounted over a back door and small window
I'm excited. Wish the brackets were black instead of silver. Guess I'll have to paint them before the contractor installs them. This one replaces an old rusty one that I gave up repainting.
This was 100% a great purchase. Does exactly what we needed without blocking any light. Was easy to install with two people. It took about an hour.
