Nice piece of furniture

This is a really nice piece of furniture and great for extra sleeping space for overnight guests complete with a very comfortable mattress!! The XL Twin feature was perfect for my grandson who's over 6 feet tall!!

I was able to assemble it with little difficulty…great directions. The Murphy bed looks to be of a good quality. It is for a spare bed at our cabin and nobody has had the chance to use it yet…we have only had it a couple of weeks.

The chest is heavy and rather massive - but it is also very sturdy. It must be opened correctly, as stated in the instruction booklet. The mattress is comfortable. There is space to fit 2 pillows between one of the mattress folds. The bottom drawer of the chest is terrific for keeping sheets, a blanket, etc. No need to attach the chest to the back wall. This is not good for a rental unit - opening and closing it is not intuitive. You could, perhaps, take photos to explain how to do it.)

Unfortunately, we had to return the item due to buying the wrong size. Needed a queen bought a full by mistake. HD was great with the return thank you.

It is a nice bed. The only thing I would complain about is that nothing was marked, so it took longer to put together

Great addition to our sunroom

Construction of this is awesome all wood, very sturdy and very easy to assemble (easier with two people) Mattress is awesome,I slept on the mattress for a week during a home renovation it was very comfortable. Purchased for extra bed for company.

I want to be clear here - the product itself is overall good and the customer service from Home Depot has been amazing. My problem is with the manufacturer, AFI. STEER CLEAR. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM. FIND SOMETHING FROM A DIFFERENT MANUFACTURER. We took a chance at purchasing this Murphy Bed knowing that others had issues with pieces arriving damaged. We had 3 pieces arrive damaged. All 5 of the boxes had a flier that said "if you have an issue or something is damaged, contact AFI. Do not contact the retailer where you purchased the item." We stupidly did as we were told and AFI did send new, non damaged pieces, however the freight company they use not only don't have a service to bring the item up stairs if you live in a condo, they also literally just dropped a pallet in our alley and left. Wouldn't take the pallet or the damaged pieces back. We now have to pay extra to dispose of the damaged pieces. I contacted AFI about this and they will not help with either hiring a disposal company or giving us any compensation back for what we will have to spend on disposal. We thought we were spending ~$1400, but in the end it will be closer to ~$1700+. Thanks, AFI...

Great addition to our middle bedroom; unit stays closed while not in use so it is a space saver. Customer service w/manufacturer was great regarding scratched/dented pieces.

Nice design, poor manufacture

Instructions were confusing, and out of sequence. Laminate is flimsy, some of the non-visible (inside) panels were nicked, scratched. The grooves into which the backboard slides were poorly machined and out of alignment requiring me to force things with some damage (not visible, but still). The laminate on the backboard itself came slightly semi-detached from the particle board, and cracked on installation (in the back). If I didn't have visitors within the month, it would have gone back.

Broke

After opening the boxes, I found three parts broke. One board was completely broke in half. So far I have not been able to get in contact with anyone to resolve my issue.

Great purchase for the guest room

I have had this item for over six months. It is great for the guest bedroom which isn't used often. My guests tells me the foam mattress is adequate. I purchased a 3-inch foam topper which was used only once (it is super bulky and cannot be stored in the cabinet with the regular mattress--don't even think it would store well in the bottom drawer. The bottom drawer is enough to hold a bedspread, blanket and two pillows. This cabinet has opened up my barely used guest room so that I can actually use the room to do my crafts and other things when the bed is put away. I do wish I had gotten a wall Murphy bed instead but this certainly fits the bill. It will be extremely heavy and awkward to move when that day comes. Be careful when putting the screws into the top cover as there has been some stress cracking at points there--I recommended hand tightening the screws in this area.

Phenomenal piece of furniture! Love the functionality and not too difficult to put together - since I used a contractor! lol Looks great in the man cave behind the lazy boy recliners

Perfect Fit For Our Needs

Our new Murphy Chest arrived early and in perfect shipping condition. We had one issue with a defective drawer slide which caused us to have to contact the manufacturer. They resolved the "part" issue in a very quick manner and the bed/chest is now put together ( with a little stress but nothing that patience and re-reading instructions could overcome). .I put about 95% of it together solo and required my wife's assistance for a total of 10 minutes with heavier akward pieces. We love it, it's the perfect fit for our office/2nd guest room. We'll have guests sleeping on it in a few weeks, we'll add an extra topper for more comfort. TY, wonderful, practical, quality furniture addition to our home !!!!

It is a great chair . Use it everyday

Great Choice for a Murphy Bed

We bought this for my in-laws to sleep on when they visit. It is extremely bulky and heavy and takes a bit of time to put together, but overall the finished product is very nice. They said it slept wonderfully and the chargers on the sides are a nice touch. I love that it has a drawer underneath that fits all of the necessary bedding - even the pillows! I esepcially like having the cabinet space when it is not in use. Aside from a time-consuming assembly, I highly recommend this product.

Looks fairly nice, but quality not as expected

After being assembled, the piece looks decent but there are several imperfections and a few pieces where the holes do not line up. The company did respond quickly and I got a partial refund (ended up drilling my own holes), but it would have taken months to get a replacement piece. It's also advertised as solid wood but there are pieces that look more like MDF.

A few problems, but totally worth it!

Truly, this bed is gorgeous. And the Full size is perfect for my small space. I love the folding mattress...surprisingly comfortable, closer to a real mattress than to those crappy pull-out sofa mattresses. From other reviews, I knew assembly was going to be a bear, and it was. I had to re-drill a couple of the holes. I added nail-on slider feet to the bottom because the painted cabinet was marking up my tile floor. And the paint job was subpar on one of the seams in front. But now that it's assembled, I'm super happy with this piece.

Previously owned or Floor Model - Unadvertised

I've yet to put it together, but, if it comes together as advertised I will be happy enough. The reason for the low score is that while unpacking the shipment, screws were loose in the packing box, I found it was a floor model or a return, which was never advertised. Slight damage on a corner and dried adhesive on the drawer face with missing screws to the handles, so far. I'll be putting it together in the next couple of days.
