dislike refilll procedure….. not easy to detect when tank is full
Working great, this is the second one I bought, had it for several years, I liked it so much I bought the same one again, I have noticed this one makes a louder noise than the old one. I have had this one two weeks.
I didn't find this unit to work very well in a 450 sq. ft. room. The RH (measured by my own hygrometer) was 28% when I began using this unit. I could only get it up to 34% or so running the unit on high. I had the unit set to 60% (with the hopes to bring the room to 45-50%), and while the humidity as measured by the unit was around 41%, it was topping out around 35% across the room. However, I moved this into a small room that is about 200 sq. ft. and it works great in there.
Works great for improving dry winter air.
The first thing I noticed about this humidifier upon unboxing was how thin walled it is. The plastic is shockingly thin. It's like the engineers who designed it had a contest to see how thin the plastic could be without bursting like a balloon. Still, once it's together and filled it does work well. It has three speeds. The fan is very quiet on the lowest speed but not so much on the higher speeds. If you plan to run this full blast it should be located where the fan sound won't be a nuisance. In summary, this humidifier brought the humidity from 35% to 50% overnight which was just right. It emptied in 24 hours and is kind of a pain to fill but worth the effort to have hands that aren't cracked and bleeding. The only real negative is the weak walled construction.
Unit just DOES NOT work
I had a Honeywell HCM 6009 for 8 years until it finally no longer produced moisture. The replacement for that model also is no longer sold. I found this unit which has a decent price, but I guess you get what you paid for. Haven an external humidity monitor, which alway went up to the 65% when run all day, in the fairly large but not huge Master Bedroom. This unit, while the built in shows the humidity going up, the external gauge which isn't far from the unit never goes past 50%.
This product is of very low quality. It is very difficult to get the lid, which is made of cheap plastic, to line up and fit on the bottom unit. Also, you have to press the power button several times to get it to shut off. I've resorted to unplugging it when needing to shut it off.
Not a 6 gallon capacity.
The unit works well but there are some flaws. There is an overfill prevention implemented in the unit but this consists of a hole drilled in the back of it. If you overfill it just dumps water all over the ground. My unit takes just over 4.5 gallons before this hole is reached. If you try to fill to the 6 gallon capacity you will end up with over a gallon of water on the floor behind the humidifier.
Cheap do not buy!
Top fan unit does not fit well with bottom half of unit. Thin cheap plastic. 2 of the screws that hold the fan unit in, were stripped and laying in bottom of unit.
For me was a challenge to to put together.. especially that float that had to make contact with that silver piece…My granddaughter came over and figured it out..
Only model you will need to purchase!
This is a replacement for the same model that we used for several years and they are great. They work as good as advertised and humidifies our whole home. We have 9 rooms, 1,800 sq. ft.
Easy to set up, easy to fill and is putting moisture in the air. Just what we asked for.
THE humidifier
The next best option might be the 4 gallon Vornado but that doesn't have the ability to top fill. The bulk of the 1 star reviews mention that they have some difficulty fitting the top on the bottom, which is fair, it does take some effort to get them lined up. That said there isn't another humidifier that comes close to this one other than a whole house humidifier that needs to be installed by a professional into your HVAC system. The filters are also readily available and fairly priced.
Trash
I got this right after x mas bc of my special needs kid used it for about maybe 2 ot 2 mounths it just flashing 20 and now it won't even turn on what a waste of money stay far far away
Extremely cheap
This is probably one of the worst humidifiers I have ever purchased. Float doesn’t stay in place making it difficult to get the cover on correctly not to mention you have to fight with the cover to have it fit properly. Waste of money. Used 1 season and I won’t be using it again.
Off switch weird
This is the third 6 gallon humidifier that I’ve purchased from Home Depot. The first one lasted 10 years. The second one the motor stopped running after about a week, but Home Depot replaced it. However, this new model has a very weird off button. It’s a push button, but it has to be in a very specific position in order for the motor to stop running. It’s the only detail about the new model that I don’t like.
pros- quite, able to determine how much humidity output
Item Exactly as Depicted, AOK!
Item Exactly as Depicted, AOK!
I set this up in the middle of the room, filled it with water, and let it run all day while I monitored my humidity gauge. Nothing. The humidity didn't increase by even 1%. All this thing did was make noise. It's a total waste of money.
The lid doesn't easily sit on the base; otherwise, a decent unit.
Basic and works as it should. No issues putting together by myself at all.
