Not enough flow

After 6+ years we replaced our RhinoMaxFlow system with the OptimH2O system. Despite changing over from ¾ inch to 1 inch plumbing with the new installation, which would improve water flow, the flow in our OptimH2O system gradually (within days/weeks) decreased to a *trickle*. We are currently using our OptimH2O system having removed the replaceable charcoal filter (i.e., water is simply flowing through the housing of the unit) and have tremendous flow (just no filtration). I have ordered, and we have received, another RhinoMaxFlow system which has yet to be installed. Apparently the difference between the 4.82 gpm rated flow for the OptimH2O and the 14.0 gpm rated flow for the RhinoMaxFlow is truly significant. Factoring in the plumbing installation costs with the replacement costs for the systems, this was a very expensive lesson learned.

Achieves its purpose, with flaws

In good news, the filter reduced the amount of lead in our water from 4 ppb to 0. Unfortunately, the filter leaked water (initially slowly, then substantially) due to a valve that wasn't sized correctly. When I emailed Aquasana for support, they didn't respond, and I had to call to get a reply from them. They shipped replacement parts free of charge, but we had to pay our plumber an extra $225 to install said parts due to Aquasana's error in manufacturing.

It works for the most part

I would love to say I love this product. We’ve had it since April 2023. After about 2 months our water pressure got really low couldn’t have more than one thing on at a time. If you flushed the toilet no water came out of the sink to wash your hands. Called Aquasana they said it was summer and water quality is worse because of droughts and I needed a new pre filter so I bought it. They assured me that this was only a summer problem… We installed the new cartridge and water pressure remained the same so I called the water company thinking low pressure was due to all the construction going on up the street. Water company checked my pressure outside my house and it was much higher then what is normal for my area and they told me I probably need a new filter so we opened up the main filter to check that one since the pre filter was just changed at it was black and there was sediment at the bottom. Called Aquasana and they did the right thing and replaced the main filter but now we’ve been changing the pre filter every 2 minutes months and are noticing the pressure decreasing again and we changed the pre filter today still less pressure. I’m sure we need a new main filter but the cost of them is crazy to have to replace them every 3 months. The unit is 6 months old and needs the 3rd main filter which is supposed to be good for 1 year or 100K gallons neither of which we have made it to on a single filter

Our Experience

We purchased the OptimH2O complete system with salt free conditioner and UV light in 2020. After having our system for 3 years the salt free conditioner failed sending its filter media throughout all of our cold and hot water lines in our home clogging every sink/shower/toilet/hose/appliance valve, shower head, sink faucet, toilet float valve and water heater. It cost us over 6K to have our entire water line system flushed, angle valve and faucets replaced. If we would have know this was a possibility we would never have gone with this system. Post filters are now an option (this was not an option when we purchased). Seems like aquasana has had this happen more than once.

There was a crack in the pre filter

All was delivered, and installed by a professional (expensive) but there was a leak in the pre-fikter with no explanation. Aquasana did help and provided free of charge a new pre filter. It was installed and problem solved. After examination there was a crack in the head plate, was supposed to be impossible during the root cause discussion. Anyway, all is installed now, but now I don’t like the water … with all those efforts (and twice paid plumber), that water I generate now is soapy, it feels like greasy. It is bothering me when I shower, but also when you clean the dishes, it slips so much I broke 3 glasses already in 1 week.

No wasted money

a package arrived open some plumbing parts were missing but it was not something that could not be fixed.

Two Years in with the OptimH2O

I've had my system for two full years now and continue to be super happy with its performance. Replacements are very easy. My water tastes great and doesn't have any odors. My kids have even commented on how any other water -- including bottled -- tastes gross in comparison!

Great Filter GAME CHANGING!

Best water filter money can buy. Ive had it for a little over a year, really helped remove the chlorine smell from our city water. Our faucets stay clean, our kids love drinking more and more water now.

Read the entire installation instructions BEFORE!

Seems to be working well- no strong chlorine smell. Water feels a little slippery and we don’t have the water softener- that seems strange. Do read instructions before installing. We gave them to the plumber so we never saw that parts about disinfecting with bleach, and flushing the filters! Plumber had no difficulties with the install.

Cheap Plastic Parts

The pro install kit has non-durable plastic wall clamps for the hoses that break easily. Most disconcerting is that the release valves are difficult to loosen and tighten, are made of non-durable plastic, and also break easily.

The cost is more than reasonable, given what the product purports to do. i was very happy with the ease of installation, quality of the product, and, of course, the great tasting water. The ONLY complaint I would have is that although all the ports are 1'', I can't understand why the supplied fittings and valves would be 1/2". I had no use for them and had to buy

Creates low water pressure

It deffinatly cleans the water but at the costof water pressure. We have a small 2 bath house and only one person can be using water at a time while in the shower.

Unreliable System

We had this whole house system installed and after (3) months in full operation, it doesn't deliver the quality of water highly stated by the seller/manufacturers. For the price, I wouldn't recommend it.

semi difficult to install, used the combined picture on website to create the pipe interconnect. Except for having to wing the install, it works great.

This is NOT as advertised

I bought this filter primarily to remove lead from the water. While the filter does this very well (0 lead), the filter stops working after 2 weeks. Aquasana stated that the filter will need to be changed roughly every 6 months. Mine consistently stops after 2 weeks. I loose all water pressure in the house until I replace it with a new filter. I am not happy with the product, however, should commend the customer service team that's been very understanding.

Great product, as advertised. No issues so far!!

We purchased the OptimH2O Whole House filter with Descaler. Installed a few months ago and the filter works great. We immediately noticed a difference when showering and no scale on the appliances. Our previous water wasn't terrible, but we had semi hard water and this solved the problem and gives us peace of mind out of every faucet. One concern was around water pressure after install, as I read some reviews that it drops.

This system has NEVER worked in my home

After spending $3k for the filter, salt-free descaler, and uv-light plus and additional $900 to have it installed by a plumber - this system has never worked. Aquasana sent a new filter - water still will not move through the large optum H20 filter. The PSI in my home is high enough and my pump works great! But, the aquasana system has been on bypass the entire time it has been installed in my home. My water is brown, I'm $4k down and I have to buy drinking water. The assistance I received in November was less than helpful and the emails I have sent requesting assistance have gone unanswered. The install instructions don't have enough detail - what should the PSI be set at? Is it okay to have a variable jet pump or is a different pump required?
