😁😁😁😁
I'm thinking of changing the light bulb in my living room. I've researched many models, but this one seems to be the most suitable. It's simple but very luxurious, easy to assemble, not many accessories... I really like it.
To start, I will say it is much larger than I originally thought and more gorgeous than pictures could ever show! But... Hunter's Belltown 4 Tier pendant light assembly and installation put me on a heck of a riiiide. Straight out of the box, everything was there and packaged nicely and safely during shipping. All of the pieces were intact and separated, which made identifying everything easy. After inspecting it all, I did notice the glass dome has imperfections/air bubbles, but they are small and not terribly noticeable to anyone unaware. While this isn't a big deal, especially if you're paying a pretty penny for a light like this, just keep in mind that it does NOT come with lightbulbs. The manual also does not tell you which size to get either. Now, on to the bigger issues: To start, one of the holes in the glass where you put the screw and grommets through was slightly chipped, which worries me about glass integrity over time. They aren't awful or actually cracked through the glass, just chipped around the edge. Aestically, it isn't a big deal as the metal ring on the outside will hide it as well. However, on the topic of the holes ( lol ) aaand the metal ring- they are not perfectly lined up with holes in the glass, which made assembly very tough. After A LOT of time spent on carefully aligning them and taking turns carefully pressing on the metal ring after one grommit was placed (as well as attempting to "smoosh " the metal against the glass dome in the direction of the problem area... ) we got it "close enough." Enough for the grommits to pass through, but even still, the grommit doesn't sit flush against the glass, and putting in the screw was a pain. Again, we got it in and "close enough," but it was NOT an easy feat. Now, to stay on the topic of screws - the one screw had an imperfection in it, making it tough to screw it in on another hole. Luckily, the threading wasn't way off, and with a little bit of VERY careful pressure and caution not to strip the screw or threading- we got it in. Once assembled (but before the poles and ceiling mount) cleaning, it is pretty tough... It collects a lot of dust and bits (and I imagine over time bugs that are attracted to light). It collects mainly at the very bottom, where it is tough to reach by hand due to the "canopy" part of the fixture that gets in the way. It doesn't help that the very bottom of it almost acts as a catch, which makes it hard to get out because of the bubble shape on the bottom of the dome. For example, when we were putting it together, pieces of the styrofoam it came in fell down into the "bubble," and we had to carefully tip it upside down to try and get them out. Keep in mind, though, this won't be possible once it is installed. Lastly, and most importantly, once everything was put together, wired up, hung, and ready to shine... it did not shine. It did not light up at all. We tested our wires, and they were fine. Just in case, we uninstalled and disconnected the unit's wires and tried our original unit, which came on just fine.... This leads us to believe it is, in fact, the fixture. We consider ourselves (almost) expert DIYers and have installed new wires, outlets, and many light fixtures successfully before. So we are fairly certain it is this light fixture, especially after all the aggravation. However, despite all the aggravation and hiccup around every corner, we really don't want to give up hope just yet as we love the elegant look of it and think it'll be a great addition to our home. We plan on hiring an electrician to see if he could figure it out, so if it is NOT the light, I will be sure to update this review if possible. To end this novel of a review, if the holes lined up and the light turned on after this whole debacle- I would have given a 5 star review. The fixture is gorgeous, and the hassle of cleaning would be worth the annoyance. If the issue is, in fact, this fixture, I'm sure I just received a dud. I've read many good reviews and believe that may be the case. If i didn't receive it as a gift for my honest opinion, I absolutely would have returned it for a replacement. Fingers crossed our electrician can figure it out. Less
I can not get over the quality and thickness of the glass. The bell is huge, much larger than expected. It is close to 30 inches tall, but not heavy. The cord that has the length can be adjusted. The pictures does not do this work of art justice as it is truly breathtaking and a great addition. We are putting it up as a finishing touch to a room we are redoing! This the I'm done pics.
