20# Big Bite Stuffer
I purchased a 20# electric stuffer a while back and used it a couple times. It worked but not like it should. I called customer service and explained what was happening the tech concluded that the wiring was not hooked up right in the motor. I just received a new motor today. I switched them and the new one works like it should. The tech told me to keep the old one and use it as a backup. I will gladly give the product and the customer service 5 STARS.
Game changer
This stuffer is incredible. I've used it multiple times. Heavy duty motor and construction. Also included is a hand crank and foot switch. Very easy clean up is a bonus. Lem is my go to for any meat processing. Very solid company.
#30 pound electric broken after 3rd use.
I recently purchased the #30 electric stuffer. Ordered it on 10/31, received it on 11/6. The shipping box was destroyed so I was initially disappointed with the delivery. I put that one on UPS.
Motor heats up
For the price, the 20 lb stuffer works very well. However, the motor heats up relatively easy... especially when stuffing snack sticks. The motor has a temperature "breaker" that trips it off. It takes about an hour to cool down enough to reset it. I think the motor is a little light duty for this stuffer.
Flow-stop auto reversing can cause more frustration than it's worth.
My main issue is with the "Flow Stop" auto reversing. It's terribly slow and reverses for way too long. Then when you restart the piston downward you have to wait for it to go back down that distance before it starts stuffing again. It's really frustrating when you accidently release the foot switch. It would also help to somehow have a "casing load" mode for natural casings. When loading natural casings it's helpful to push out small amounts of meat to help lubricate the casing as it's being loaded, and that's basically impossible with this stuffer without constantly adjusting the speed setting. It would also be nice to have some sort of clamping system to clamp the tub in place so that it is solid and doesn't shift around while loading casings. I'm used to an old cast iron manual stuffer so while the electric motor is awesome everything else will take some adjustment for me. Hopefully I can truly put it test in a few weeks by testing it on stuffing snack sticks.
Sausage and snack stick making will never be the same
Up until now I have always made sausages using my meat grinders for stuffing. Back in the day, I used the small and very noisy grinders. I thought I had it covered when upgraded to the LEM Big Bite #12 grinder. The grinder is awesome for grinding every kind of meat and has always done a “good” job stuffing sausage. Then I tried snack sticks. Man, what a chore. I had wanted a stuffer for a long time and making snack sticks sealed the deal. Subscribing to the “Go big or go home” theory, I went with the Big Bite 20 lb motorized stuffer. The first thing I did was make 20 lbs of hot links. I couldn’t believe how much easier it was than using the grinder. Today I changed gears and processed 15 lbs of snack sticks. Wow, what a game changer! If you like making snack sticks, you have to have one of these. The stuffer takes a little getting used to in regards to the feed rate and how much pressure to use on the casings, but once you get it figured out this thing is amazing. The added bonus with the motorized stuffer is making sausage’s and snack sticks easily becomes a one person job. So happy that I pulled the trigger on this.
30 pound Big Bite motorized stuffer
Recently upgraded to the 30 pound motorized stuffer. Wow, so much easier and faster than our old 10 pound manual crank stuffer. Much more consistent stuffing and way fewer casing blowouts. My adult sons asked why we waited so long to get a stuffer of this quality. Highly recommend the LEM motorized stuffers.
Don't buy!!!!!
POS!!! I purchased this in 2017 and the my wife got stage 3 cancer so I really haven't used this since 2017. It's been stored in a dry place with a plastic cover. Go to use it today and it doesn't work. First the speed dial for the plunger didn't work, was on fastest speed no matter what. The it stopped working all together. For over $700 this should work more than 3 times. Replacement is almost another $300. I used to like LEM products but this is ridiculous. If I could give 0 stars for this item I would. Don't waste your money. The whole reason I bought this was so I could operate this on my own, now it's basically a $700 paperweight.
Sausage making life just got easier !!
I replaced my 5 lb manual (crank) stuffer with the 10 lb motorized stuffer with a foot control.
Perfect!
This machine is tremendous. First use was packaging 1,300 brats. There was no blow-back and the can was basically empty when the plunger was all the way to the bottom. The variable speed made it very easy to get the correct size brat and the automatic back-off when you released the pedal was a nice feature. Just used it again this weekend to package 50 pounds worth of summer sausage and again, it worked great. Clean-up and use is simple. After reading other reviews, I am concerned about the durability but at this point, I would recommend 100%.
Perfect Sausage Stuffer
Excellent. Everything I hoped for and more. My wife will actually come back into the kitchen and help me once again. It has made sausage fun and cut the time in half easily. The manufacturer called me and let me know of a potential problem before I got the machine out of the box and had a replacement part delivered in couple days but I was still able to use it until the part arrived. I would recommend this product for sure. The large capacity kept me from stopping to refill as often. Thanks LEM. Great product.
Best stuffer ever
Growing up on a farm making sausage for the entire family was usually a 2 week process, and there was usually a second pair of hands available to run the stuffer. When I saw this stuffer available a couple of years ago and knowing that didn’t have a second pair of hands available to help , I was set on eventually getting this stuffer, fast forward 2 years and I now have family close by so I had available help , but in reading all the reviews I still wanted to get this stuffer as anyone that had it seemed very pleased.
Waited too long
Like many reviews, I too wish I would have purchased this 30# motorized stuffer many many years ago. The price has always been an inhibitor. This year, thanks to uncle joe, and covid money, I pulled the trigger and bought me one. No regrets. Easy to operate and true variable speed. I though maybe it had preset detents on the control knob. Nope. Goes as slow as you want to full speed. I like the slight auto reverse when you stop so it relieves down pressure and meat doesn’t keep oozing out. This is a big upgrade for me going from 5# manual to 30# auto. Looking forward to more processing in the future.
30 lb Stuffer
I am now able to continue making sausage because of the magic of electricity. At 73 years old I am no longer able to crank a manual stuffer single-handedly. This unit is fantastic in every way and lives up to the LEM high standards of quality and ease of use. The foot pedal and variable speed control leaves your hands free to handle the filling of casings. The feature of automatic backup of the piston when stopping is a bonus. The stainless steel stuffing tubes are easier to clean and keep sanitary. My only complaint is that LEM did not send a robot to lift it onto the table. :)
Excellent service, good product
Researched auto meat stuffers on line and decided on the LEM 20# motorized stuffer. It arrived as scheduled. Was spendy but after using it, well worth it. My venison brats looked like they were done at a meat store, took me a lot less time than with my manual stuffer, unit is well built and was very easy to clean. With The foot pedal I had both hands free to work the sausage. As far as cost, it will pay for itself with the amount of sausages I make compared to having them done at a meat shop. If cost is a concern, check with family or friends to share the cost and make sausage together
I would never buy a manual stuffer again
I ran 50 lbs of sausage through this and used it also to package 50 pounds of ground hamburger into vacuum bags and it couldnt have been easier. I love the fact that it also has a backup manual crank with a high and a low gear cranking point. My brother in law has a higher dollar electric stuffer and not even his has that feature. If his motor or power goes down he's stuck. Not with this one.
Had trouble with first one delivered, defective gear but after a few border issues new one delivered. We stuffed 200 lbs each of kielbasa and pepperoni. Went extremely well.. just had to get used to went to release foot pedal when nearing end of casing. The 30 lb capacity saved time with fewer loads compared to my old 15 lb. Manual stuffer I have used for over 40 years. We own the biggest big bite grinder and mixer as well. Great products, the grinder takes it as fast as you can feed it. I did remove the safety SS guard, was always in the way. The throat is deep enough no fingers going in there but understand the need for some people's safety. Just in love with all my LEM products.
Great Stuffer
I have owned the 20 lb model now for 4 years. It works great. I can stuff salami and sausage by myself. One problem I have had with this stuffer is with snack sticks in sheep casings. If you put the meat in cold right out of the refrigerator, it will bogg down the motor. When the meat is cold and sticky I don't think any electric motor could handle moving the stiff meat through that small of a tube. I found that by letting the meat sit out for about 2 hours and spreading it out so it warms up and then adding some hot distilled water to it and mixing it good works great. Moves the meat through the small tube without a problem. I've been making salami and sausage for many years and this piece of equipment has made my life a lot simpler, and most of all it's pretty affordable. I highly recommend this stuffer to anyone serious about sausage making..
Not 100% - First Impression
I have previously used the LEM 5 lb manual stuffer, and have used it for years. My only complaint with it was making larger batches, which necessitated more back and forth to reload the hopper. Stuffing 10-20 lbs was a chore, as the hopper never seemed to fit 5lbs of product, and it is always a one man operation. I needed something more efficient, so I broke down and purchased the 20 lb. electric stuffer.
Big bite 20lb is a game changer
I do venison snack sticks and summer sausage during hunting season. I was using a kitchen aid metal grinder/stuffer on my mixer. The ergonomics were awful and it took forever to get thru 10-15 lbs of sticks needing two people always. I’ve decided to do venison and beef products for people this year and knew I needed a better way. I compared the LEM vs another big name electric and found the LEM to get better reviews. So I ordered the big bite 20lb. It came super fast and I opened it, cleaned it and was stuffing within an hour. It’s is HUGE. It assembles quick, and it absolutely pounds thru sticks and sausage. My time has been cut from 2-3 hours to less than a hour including cleanup. Speaking of cleanup is a dream. If you looking for a way to run a 1 person stuffing operation with ease, please consider buying this stuffer. It is literally perfect. Yes there may be a time I wish I got the 30lb but it’s so big already I can do just fine with the 20lb for a long time. My only hope is that it does last a long time. Only time will tell but aside from that this is a homerun!
