This big, heavy bad boy is great for stronger cooks who don’t mind a bit of upkeep and perfect searing

My first cast iron skillet and it’s a whopper. Opted for the extra deep which has pros such as option for ‘deep’ frying and less splatter. Cons are that it’s heavier at 4.2kg and it makes it harder to turn food without burning yourself on the sides. Bit of a mission to wash, dry and season after every use and probably not ideal on a glass induction cooktop as the bottom is seasoned too. Had for 2 weeks and sears steaks beautifully but still getting used to how to cook through properly but we’re getting there. Still has great potential but definitely not for the faint-hearted with this big, heavy, bad boy needing a lot of TLC and strong arms! But do like the idea that I’m not using Teflon or at risk of PFAS etc and it’s tried and true tool. Definitely recommend for younger, stronger cooks.

This is not my first buy I have few lodge made cast irons skillet and grills in different sizes, I like cooking in it no burn of spices or over cooked meals. Easy to clean just run under the water with steel wool, if it is dry oil it and ready for next use. Cast iron advantage, its heat retention same as clay pots. Only some people don't like cast iron, is the weight. Lodge makes good cast irons. This skillet's, Depth 7.5cm, pan Width 26cm, holds about 3.02 Litre.

Exactly what I needed!

It’s perfect! Exactly what I wanted and exactly as described. Most importantly, 30cm glass lids fit perfectly, which is necessary for a special meal I want to cook in there. Perfect for everything else, too!

Fantastic cast iron skillet. Threw away all my Teflon coated pans. Not too heavy and cleans up great. Much healthier than Teflon pans that eventually chip and you inject. I have highly recommended this to friends and family. A silicone sleeve for the handle which you can purchase separately would be the only improvement.

Love this skillet. Cooks larger quantities which is exactly what I needed along with high sides to catch the splattering.

chicken fry skillet

Theres nothing like a lodge skillet to fry your chicken! Rather it he fried in oil or bacon fat. I did season the skillet again with Blackstone Griddle Seasoning before using. It did a fantastic job on the chicken. Crispy, non-greasy with great taste. 5 star rating!

Best decision ever. We eat a lot of ground beef and it’s the perfect size to cook 3 lbs all at once or any one pot meal for a family of 4. First took a detail sander with 80 grit to it and after less than 10 minutes, it was sufficiently smooth that I didn’t even need to season it! Nothing sticks now, it’s awesome. With I did that with all my lodge cast iron at first.

I should have bought this one first. I have a 10inch iron skillet but this one is nice %26 deep. I can fry without burning myself. Love my lodge cast iron.

Excellent product!! I have done everything from frying to baking in this beautiful pan. I especially love the depth of it which makes it ideal for deep frying and bread baking. I have arthritis in my entire body, but I haven’t had any problems handling it. I highly recommend this for your kitchen. No cook should be without it!!

Better than Teflon coated aluminum.

Tired of buying pans due to teflon missing and food sticking. Does make one wonder how much teflon was ingested over all the years. Then there is the tie between aluminum and Alzheimer's. Remember my mother used these. Wife is really surprised after alot of seasoning with grape seed oil how stick free the pans really are. It does take a little care. Wipe pan out, plastic scraper if needed, rinse (no soap), dry, put on stove and heat it to make sure all oil is gone then a very light coat of cooking oil while the pan is warm and it is ready for the next meal. We use Avacado oil (and a touch of clarrified butter on occasion)for cooking due to high smoke temperature and nutritional reasons.

Lodge is the name in cast iron. I have my mothers and grandmothers classic 10” skillets… seasoned the old fashioned way! Still cooks perfect everytime. I’ve never had a deep skillet like this before. Super nice. Can’t wait to fry up some catfish !

Necessary Kitchen Utensil

The Lodge 3.2 deep pan can double as a single bread loaf using the Lodge 5 quart Dutch Oven. This pan is indestructible, and will easily outlast me. The care is simple, similar to wiping a non-stick pan with paper towel. If necessary, the pan may be submerged if dried immediately and application of cooking oil. I find the avocado oil is best because is does not smoke at the high temperatures in the oven and stove-top. This is the least expensive Dutch Oven, shipping and packaging is outstanding. This pan is made in the U.S.A.

Just what I've been looking for! Fantastic price! But no lid

I've been on the lookout for a good price for a ~5qt cast iron sauce pan for a while now. This is just what I've been looking for! Lodge cast iron is the gold standard. Shipping was amazingly fast, too! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because 2 of the 6 pictures show a glass lid (even has the Lodge logo on it!), this does not include a lid. IMHO, that should be explicit in the description. I still would have purchased it, but it would have been nice to know ahead of time so I didn't waste my time contacting customer support.

Love the deep skillet. All the benefits of cooking in a cast iron skillet without spilling over shallow sides of a regular skillet. Because of more iron, you do need to heat it longer, for about 5 minutes if you would like it really hot, and then add any cooking oil, if using. Cleaning the skillet is easy - haven't used soap on it yet, but i coddle it after rinsing and using a plastic scrub brush. I dry it right away, and massage the inside with a fresh, thin coat of neutral cooking oil before putting it away. It comes pre-seasoned from the manufacturer, i believe. It's heavy, but not so heavy that it can't be lifted for cleaning, etc. I am small and not very strong. This deep skillet would not be good for those who like to take their pan and give the food in it a flip while cooking. Not light for a single-wristed lift and toss. Great skillet/pan for cooking just about anything and the non-stick quality of a seasoned cast iron pan only improves over time.

Just another great Lodge cast iron product

We've used cast iron cookware for a very long time, since the late 70s. My everyday go-to pieces have been a circa 1968 Lodge 12" standard skillet and a Lodge 5 quart Dutch oven we bought back around 1980. The single piece I was missing from completing my cookware needs was a large, deep skillet suitable for stir fry, frying chicken or battered fish... as well as usable for oven-baking larger roasts and even certain baking needs. Found the Lodge 12" deep skillet at Walmart for a very competitive price. Add the Lodge 12" skillet cover and you've got a great option for stews, bread baking and simmered dishes.
