Big ol box

Seems well made. The door has a counterweight so when you flip up to close, it will close without any effort. Only downside is a rubber dust cover for door lock is sold separately, I think that should be standard. There are numerous holes in bottom for different mounting possibilities, which yes a plow truck coming by blasting it with a winter mess might see some make it in the holes. This does come with a tray that is grooved that completely covers the bottom so that any letters should stay dry. Now it’s a very flimsy made tray but we shall see how it holds up.

Bronze color mailbox looks much better in person!

This mailbox is more of a true bronze color. The online photo makes the bronze look grayish. The mailbox appears to be well made with good quality materials and also comes with three keys. I ordered the large, but almost wished I ordered the extra large. The opening of the mailbox is not as large as expected and may not accommodate the small packages that normally fit in a mailbox without a locking system. Consider opening size to determine which size mailbox you need.

4 mailboxes and post

If you are looking for something that looks nice and is easy to install this is it! The mailboxes are sturdy and only having to attach them to one post makes it super simple to install. One thing I would recommend is slipping the post over a 2x4 piece of wood first and then using screws to attach the post to the wood (you have to purchase screws separately).

Tough and sturdy!

This mailbox was purchased to replace our previous locking mailbox which was popped open by a thief with his bare hands. (He stole our mail, including our voting ballots!) The Mail Boss is super strong and heavy duty. There will be no more stolen mail at our house! When we looked back at our security footage of the mail theft, we noted that the thief drove right past other houses with Mail Boss mailboxes. That is how we knew which replacement mailbox to purchase.

The product is great but ...

Unfortunately it arrived (several days delayed) with the box / packaging in pretty bad shape. The mailbox it self seems like an excellent product, unfortunately three corners are knicked with one being significant. Took a series of images. Made a paint repair to one corner

Well built, strong and secure, with sturdy hinges, a decent lock, and difficult to pry open design. Easy to operate, and no key needed to deposit mail by postal carrier. Not too challenging to mount, I used a 4x4 post and a commercial mounting plate, but pieces of 2x4 would also do quite well..

Good quality product, but plastic mail flag not metal. Says can mount to "almost any" post. Well, can't be mounted to round post. Requires square post (no hardware included) or mounting on flat surface (large screws provided). Mail Boss metal posts expensive, ditto for bracket to mount their post in concrete. Just realize more cost than cost of mailbox.

I will only ever buy this mailbox

I bought this mailbox 2 months ago, last week someone tried to break in to my mailbox. The box has a couple different areas that are bent but besides the hinge a little wonky, it works fine and kept all my mail from being stolen!

GREAT MAIL BOX

When we first received our order of the MAIL BOSS, we thought it was too large for us and for the 4x4 metal post that we also bought. We were mistaken! The large lockable mailbox is perfect, and very attractive. It is easy to unlock/lock and looks to be "thiefproof"....easy to set on the metal post. We made the mistake of buying the extra metal plate for attachment, but we did not need it or use it. The metal plate is for WOODEN POST use with this mailbox. [Now I need to return the unopened metal plate.] The 4x4 heavy metal post has 4 predrilled, welded, heavy metal holes and has 4 large bolts to attach the large mailbox securely into the top of the heavy metal post....easy to set in concrete too! Great set up! Very happy with Post and Mail Boss!

Powder coat won’t last,…

I bought this “premium product “ 3 years ago and it’s already rusted on the bottom sides. Very secure product but expect high maintenance. Rust is not covered under the Limited lifetime warranty,… make sure you pick up excellent wax & a good can of paint if you decide to buy this. Mail Boss customer service will not help besides giving you proper restoration procedures,…

Love the lockable mailboxes !!

We have a 7 unit condo association, and a few weeks ago we all had our mail stolen. We decided to get lockable mailboxes, and after researching decided to order the Mail Boss lockable mailboxes. I was going to build brick surrounds around the mailboxes. I ordered the boxes on a Wed, they arrived Friday night, and I installed all 7 on Saturday ! They look so good that we decided not to install the brick surrounds !! Thank you !

Can’t use outgoing mail clip

Two jobs to do - protect incoming mail and have a spot for outgoing mail. This mailbox does a solid job of the first and is a TERRIBLE design for the second. Specifically, it’s impossible to secure envelopes larger than business letter size (so 4” tall or so) because of the bend in the outgoing try. Today I tried to send out a dozen birthday cards and was met with massive failure. Perhaps I could have gently bent one or two to slide under the clip. Bummer!

Good product but not entirely secure

I’ve had this mail box for a year. It was easy to install and looks great. The mail box does hold up well to harsh conditions. It even got hit by a snowplow and it is still standing, so I would say it is fairly durable as well. Although it is as secure as you can get, it is not totally secure. In the description it states that the lock is anti-pick and anti-drill, well someone was able to drill my lock out. So I would say it’s not an anti-drill lock. But overall it is pretty good mail box.

The Mail Boss Locking mailbox is great. The constructions seems extremely sturdy and durable. Time will tell of course. The key works great and is easy to lock and unlock. I especially noticed the key did not fall out when you open the door and let it hang down to get the mail out of the box.

Quality Locking Mailbox

Box is substantial and well made, better than some others out there for same price point. Lock mechanism is hefty. Certainly built stout enough to convince a mailbox thief trolling the neighborhood to go on to another box. I did not like all the open attachment holes on the box bottom so I sealed them with clear outdoor calk once box was mounted, in addition to installing the provided clear box bottom plate. I may add stick-on door seal tape on the bottom compartment door if it gets wet inside. Probably will not, due the big overhand above it.

Build quality is excellent.

Been having a problem with mail theft in our area. 3 times within 2 months. Got fed up with this issue so I got this mailbox. The build quality is excellent! The anti fishing feature is especially nice. The lock is extra strong but when locked the door seems to be a little loose. No problem really as the door is security stable. I'm waiting for my neighbors to get one also! Comes with 3 keys and you can order more if necessary. Mailbox arrived in perfect condition and everything was included.

Solid construction, talked to my rural city Mailman who stated this is a very secure mailbox. I thought there would be negative feedback from him because the receiver door is smaller than the standard style where I live (North Central Ozarks) Arkansas. The common style here is a plastic mailbox with a non-locking door. What I appreciated most about this unit is the 3 keys provided with the box, the plastic tray in the bottom box and the way the door mechanism restricts access to the lower compartment. I was worried that my Mailman was going to be resistant to this style but he had no issue with it. Bottom line: Secure design, well made solid locking mechanism and 3 keys. I give it an A plus

I purchased this mailbox, along with matching post. There were many options, but the main concern was security. Other commenters noted that this mailbox has a different latch than similar mailboxes, in addition to an opening that prevents anyone from reaching into the mailbox to remove any contents. The latch is supposedly better at preventing tampering.

This is the locking mailbox you want

This thing is built like a tank. I'm glad I waited for this to arrive instead of buy what is available locally and spent a little more too because this is a much more robust and secure design. It came with everything you need to install on a wood post including a drill bit to drill pilot holes for the lag screws. The only thing not included that you will need is a 13mm socket wrench if you want to use those screws. Installation was a snap. If the mailman doesn't have trouble understanding that the door will have to be held open to fit larger items then I think this will be a great mailbox. I am a little uneasy about that part but I like that with this design it's not that easy to look in side and see what's in there. It's possible, but it's not as easy as the other locking mailboxes out there. I think it will hold at least a month or two of junk mail but time will tell.
