Careful

Bought this unit last season for our horse's stock tank. Used it as a floating heater. Put it back in tank for the upcoming 2nd season and the horses wouldn't drink and cautiously approached tank after it was removed. Found corrosion on the heating element and think there is a slight voltage leak. Surprised it didn't trip GFIC outlet. (Which tested ok)

Works great for our 110 gal water tank, even at -30 F and strong winds. The horses appreciate it, and so do I!!

[Rewarded Review] Works Good, but needs more longevity

Bought mine last season, and it worked well. Kept the ice from forming and (used in float mode) was not chewed to bits or pulled out of tank. This year, not working so well. Ice is forming all around it. Have to break the ice every morning, so my only gripe is that i wish it would have lasted more than one season.

What? Worked GREAT!

This heater lasted all winter in my pond during record-breaking freezing northern Illinois temps. Some chill temps were 40 below. Huge snow drifts, sometimes, too. It kept at last a 2' diameter of water open so my fish survived! It still works and I just bought another one as a "back-up" for next winter.

Just what I was looking for

These pond heaters are the best I have found. Been using the same brand for many years. I found the best price from fleet farm. I will come back to fleet farm for other purchases in the future.

Works Great - as long as horses don't pull it out.

I love this heater. Unlike the smaller sinking versions, it keeps the water surface from freezing and it hasn't "burnt" out. It has been the most reliable one I've tried. Unfortunately, it attracts the attention of the horses and they keep pulling it out. I've solved this by clamping it to the tank.

Unable to keep up with ice buildup

I bought his as an emergency to replace a broken heater. Installed and found water frozen right over the top of this. My old heater was 500 watts and kept the water with no ice. Yours is 1250 watt and won't keep up

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY it can't even keep the ice off 40 gallons of water in 20 degree weather. Save your money people

poor poor heater

you just about need to bring the heater into the house to warm it up out of the two i bought neither work worth a darn!!!!!!!!

WE HAVE TWO OF THESE HEATERS AND THEY DO NOT KEEP ICE OFF OF THE TANK, THEY ONLY HEAT A VERY VERY SMALL AREA AROUND THE HEATER, THE HORSES HAVE TO DRINK ON TOP OF THE HEATER TO GET WATER, YOU NEED TO BREAK THE ICE ON THE TANK SEVERAL TIMES A DAY TO KEEP THE HORSES IN WATER.
