Fresnal allowed more light.
I ordered this trim to replace the frosted glass type carried in the store. The in store trim had a coating that greatly reduced the light output. The clear glass saved me the expense of increasing the bulb wattage.

If you are looking for a flat 6in shower trim with METAL material on the outside edge, then look no further! This is it! From reading other reviews, I became concerned that cheap plastic material would wear over time, so as soon as I found this, I kept it. If you don't like the focusing light that the fresnel lens gives, then look for a different type of glass, but with the same manufacturer and you'll likely get a quality product. I used a well reviewed LED light appropriate for the 6in recessed can, so that is why the brightness from this lens is outstanding.
