Poor design. 1 didn't work & the bulbs that were required were hard to install.
I was very disappointed with this product as they do not make LED bulbs that fit in this fixture. My electrician and I have spent hours and additional money looking for a compatible bulb. The wattage drawn by halogen bulbs is too high. I’ve been forced to buy replacement light heads as the tracks were already installed.
Do not buy! Bulbs will not fit into fixture. I returned these straightaway.
Love these...great softened square shape. Provides nice lighting to my rail system in the hallway.

So far Ive not found any of the Nuvo components to be easy to fit together, but thats OK because adversity often leads to growth. And once youve figured out how to fit one of these heads to a track, or a live end cord kit to a track, youll never forget. The deal-breaker, though, is that the required MR16 GU10 bulbs are too long to nestle properly in the housing (first photo). Theres a collar (second photo) fastened to the wiring behind the bulbs socket that not only prevents the wiring from being inadvertently yanked out the back (a Good thing) but also prevents socket-plus-bulb from being nestle-able within the housing. Im not brave enough to take up some hand-tool to force it down; seems to me Id be compromising the wiring before it ever had a chance to go bad on its own. Back it goes. [Update] Decided to go ahead and twist off the pinch-collar thats meant to keep the Y-splice in the wiring from sticking out the back of the housing so now it *does* stick out the back (third photo) and the bulb can be nestled completely in the housing. Im no electrician, but somehow I think its less than ideal to expose the splice joint this way. Note that I used two pairs of pliers, one on either side, to twist off the pinch-collar (or whatever its called). YMMV. So I wont be sending the unit back and might even buy a couple more. For all I know, similar heads from other manufacturers have this problem as well.
These were purchased as replacements, they match perfectly!

I have a Hampton Bay track light kit in my living room from 2004. This Nuvo head was the closest match I could find to the stock heads. The only difference is the connector is a little thicker and the extension shaft is a little longer. Otherwise very nice. While the electrical connectors look identical to the stock heads in length, width and spacing, I couldn't set the connector square in the track. I had to set it a little at an angle to get the light to come on. I'll definitely consider purchasing more of these in the future.

Bought in December. They look nice and are inexpensive. However, initially I thought 2 out of 5 did not work. There are no (ZERO!) instructions that come with these. So I read some reviews here about how you have to have the bases all lined up the same way (get the little printing on the base to all point the same direction) plus, you have to pull back the plastic cover on the connector box at the same time you turn it in to seat it in the track. (I didn't even know it pulled back until I read it here.) Then the two DID work. So OK, nearly really pissed me off but I recovered but TOTALLY could have been avoided with a bit of installation info. Secondly, these come with a glass cover that cannot be used it you are using LED bulbs. I presume they would fit with halogen, but my entire reason for getting these was to have LED so I don't have to replace the bulbs (ever?). Again, I'm OK with this but COULD YOU TELL US ON SOME INSTRUCTIONS??!?

Works - though the spring clip retaining is a problem with finned/non-smooth lamps such as the LED lamps that use the outside surface of the lamp shape as a heatsink and have ridges. That is a problem of the lamp design and not necessarily the gimbal lamp mount -though a different retaining system could compensate. Interestingly enough, getting the them to work initially took several tries. I think you can only turn them ONE of the 2 directions to seat in the track. Initially I had the track up and plugged in the power puck in the middle, and a gimble light with a bulb and nothing. No power. Measuring showed 110v at the wires to the power puck but no power on the track. Eventually I fouund that rotating the puck into the track the OTHER way and it seated and provided power. The same seemed to apply to the heads here - as they all work so long as I can see the same writing on the turn-in puck block once they are seated.

NO instructions for use. Used common sense and after a horrendous time got these to work. This was place in a Halo track system. I used M16 GU10 LED bulbs and got them to dim nicely using a DIVA sliding dimmer. The reason I bought this was that I needed to eliminate the original transformer units when I wanted to have dimmable LED. With the transformer units I was not able to dim the LED light unless I left one Halogen in the track. Now with a 120 AC system and no transformers, the LED light dim as expected with a beautiful array of light across a wall of paintings.

I think many have had the same problem I did--the track heads do not light if you do not install them properly, and the installation instructions fail to tell you that you need to hold the slip collar back before you place the head into the slot and keep it retracted until you have twisted the head 90 degrees to lock it in place. This is not very easy to do because the slip collar is hard to hold out of the track. If you do not retract the head, it will not make full contact with the copper power strip inside the track housing. Once I figured this out, I had no problems, but I got very frustrated before I did. Addendum: If you are using this with the Live End Cord Kit (plugging into a wall socket), insert it into the track with the steel metal prong on the side of the track with two copper strips. If you place it the other way, it won't fit. Another gap in the instructions... I suggest that you slide in the Cord Kit Before you attach the track to the ceiling.
Wrong Bulb Specified
I ordered quite a few of these units off of HD website as they were not available in the stores. As expected, the bulbs did not come with them. After cleaning out three different stores of MR16 bulbs on a 2 hour Saturday morning shopping trip, I returned home to discover that despite this bulb specificaiton on both HD's site and on the manufactuerer's packaging, these units actually use GU10 bulbs! 3 hours later after returning the MR16s to the three different stores on a busy Saturday noontime and buying the correct bulbs, I was finally ready to go. This bulb specification error by the manufacturer wasted more than half of my Saturday by not specifying the right bulb. HD really should have verified this as well before advertising them as MR16 bulbs.
