Another quality Grohe valve

This is our go to tub/shower valve. We’rea remodeling contractor and I love the versatility of this valve. Easy to use, reliable, handsome (in an austere way) and multi-functional. Easy to adjust temperature and volume levels. This unit works well in showers with multiple heads or tub showers with an additional hand shower. There are several models that all use the same rough in box which itself is adaptable to depth of the wall you’re setting it in. Takes a bit to figure out installation the first time, after that it’s easier every time.

Inferior build quality for this manufacturer. I have been buying products from Grohe over 20 years. And it’s very clear to me. Somethings changed. This was a brand that stood for high-grade substantial feel and functionality. This is nothing more than plastic that is flimsy and overpriced, and they did not even have the decency to allow us to have the option of different dial graphics and the event that you’re not using a tub as one of your options. Shameful At this price point to mess around with customers as well as myself. I talked to a lot of high-end builders throughout the United States and they’re all telling me the same thing. I’m done with them.

Wow. This valve and trim were so easy to install. Seems very well designed around the ability to maintain it for years to come. I live Grohe products!

Nothing but trouble

I had this installed by a plumber and nothing has worked correctly. Getting the temperature set so it isn't scalding or freezing has been very challenging and the cap constantly pops off of the front of the temperature handle. I called two plumbers to have them fix it. The first had no idea and when the second plumber came, the tab of the cap broke while he was trying to fix it. I need to order a replacement cap, but of course that isn't easy either. This valve does not function as well as a $50 set from home depot.... If you decide to purchase it, definitely make sure you only use a plumber who has experience with this model.

they don't make spindles that aren't extensions.

will never rough one of these in again. if you break the spindle and rough the valve, correctly get ready to spend 500 for a 30-cent piece of plastic.

No Flow Control

I bought this with the understanding that I could control the temperature and the water flow. I initially installed a high end Moen shower head, and noticed that I had very little ability to control the water flow. I thought it might be the shower head compensating when I turned the water volume down, but then after replacing it with a grohe Tempesta Cosmopolitan shower head I still saw no big difference. Finally after calling Grohe customer support, I learned that the Water volume control only changes the water flow 10%. Why even advertise in the product that you can control water volume, 10% is nothing, so in essence you can’t control the water volume. Had I known I would have bought a different product, that was one of my wife’s requirements, which now I can fix.

I absolutely love this shower control and system.,was hesitant at first due to price but soooo happy. Set it at the right temp and automatically hits that temp at push of the button!!

Does not control flow

I bough this product for its design, features and for its flow control. However, it DOES NOT realy let you control the flow of water (except if you consider that 10% is enough adjustment). So if you are looking at something does allows you to adjust the flow from 0 to 100%, this product does not do that. Still love the design and other features, just hoped you could control the flow in a reasonable way.

Love the ability to control volume and temp separately. The dual shower head control is also very neat with the push button design.

Looks good, vol & temp underperform

Buttons are fun and it looks great. However, the range of highest volume to lowest volume is only 10% . . . for example the strongest flow at 2 gal per minute would have the weakest at 1.8 gpm. Thinking something must be wrong, we called Grohe and they confirmed: 10% change in volume only. The difference is virtually unnoticeable so not worth the $$. We are in California--without the restrictor the flow was more than 5 gpm which is too much anywhere. It was like a powerwash in the shower. With the restrictor it is the legal 1.7ish, which feels too weak--we will shop for a different showerhead to accommodate. The range of temperature control is not great either. You can set the temp any way you want (that is a good thing), but the knob only turns about half way from there. Overall it has been a lot of money and a lot of hassle. We thought about replacing it--Build.com has an awesome return policy and great customer service in our experience. But we don't want to uninstall the Rapido box and can't see another trim to match up with it.

The install seemed complicated at first. The instructions were lacking and confusing. After watching a couple YouTube videos on install, including Grohe's, it became much simpler. Now that the control is in, I love it and the simplicity is quite nice. It is very attractive on the wall. I would definitely recommend to others.
