Pleasantly surprised by these!

I ordered 2 bookcases for my new home office. I wanted something simple yet attractive, at a reasonable price. These fit the bill! They are not the most heavy-duty shelves, but hold a fair amount and seem sturdy enough for my needs. One is being used for office supplies and the other for personal items. For the price, you won't go wrong.

Would love to return it

It’s super wobbly once assembled, the supports aren’t thick enough. But looks good! I would love to return it but I’d have to disassemble the whole thing, repackage it, and take it back to Walmart. Oh well. Would not recommend purchasing.

Easy To Assemble

Naturally, I went through the reviews to get idea of the products' stability and durability. I have to admit, I questioned myself on whether or not to purchase the Casual Home 63 in. Espresso Wood 4-shelf Bookcase based on some of the negative reviews. Most of those negative reviews were from a few years ago.

Perfect Real Wood Bookcase

This is a great bookcase with good quality wood. It was able to hold over 80 of my books. I have a lot of heavy hardcover and oversized books and I needed a real wood shelf to prevent the shelves from bowing. This is perfect and at the right price. Putting it together was easy and took about a half an hour. I love the design and look of it!

Follow-up to Wrong Color Review

The third shelf came and it is a true expresso color, unlike ether of the first two. So none of the three actually match. I will keep this shelf as it's closed in color to the first one and a family member bought the lighter brown one from me. Still satisfied with quality for price just be aware that there seems to be no quality control on the finish color. All three shelves are pictured below. The last one is the first picture. The second one is the middle picture and the first one I opened and really like the finish is in the third picture below. i would try ordering another one but I'm afraid i won't be lucky enough to get the one I want so will live with the first and third pictured for now,

This shelving unit turned out very nicely. BUT the top was not pre-drilled so took a little more ability than the average slap together furniture. Also the holes that were drilled were of slightly different dimensions so three of the wood plugs to cover the screws did not fit. This was all adjustable but if you are not at least a little bit handy, this may be a return item for you. I am fairly handly and have power tools so it all turned out all right. I am happy with the result.

Wrong Color

The shelves were what was expected after reading the reviews. I ordered two Espresso colored at the same time. They were shipped and arrived together. When opening the first I was pleased that the color was exactly right for what I wanted. These are not heavy duty but they it went together okay and looked pretty good. There are some flaws and dents on the shelves but a black or brown sharpie should fix most and when stuff is on the shelves it should not be noticeable. Then we opened the second box. Oh my! It was much lighter. In fact I believe it is the Walnut color that has been out of stock. The finish quality is somewhat better on this lighter finished one. I just ordered another Espresso hoping to get the right color even though it has been about six weeks since the first order. We'll see. Actually either color will work so hoping the third shelf will match one or the other. See color difference in pictures. Both boxes clearly labeled espresso. I will update then.

As the lighter colors were out of stock, got espresso. First, the finish is well done. Shelves are solid. VERY easy to put together. Instructions are clear and easy to understand. Every screw has a pilot hole, so the screws go in easily and less chance the wood might split. Good looking and sturdy. Easily mounts to the wall with a good, small bracket to prevent the from tipping over. I am a mechanically inclined Woman and this by far the easiest piece of furniture I have ever put together. It also looks like you could easily disassemble this for moving. If I can find this in a lighter finish, I will get another.

Just what I wanted

Product is beautifully finished and well made of real wood. Assembly was maybe 20 minutes if that. I had it shipped to home, as I have no Lowe's nearby and it was exactly the dimensions I wanted. I have to admit - it was probably the best packing job of any delivered furniture I've ever received. Individually wrapped pieces, bound together inside the box. Arrived without any blemishes. Very happy with this product. Only small issue I have is it was supposed to come with 20 wood plugs, but mine only came with 16 so I have 4 screw heads visible in the recessed hole. That is the only reason it didn't get 5 stars.

Shorter than most bookcases but still high quality & sturdy

I bought three on a whim to expand my book collection. The bookcases were easy to assemble once you figure out visually how the whole thing fits together. It is sturdy and can hold many books and decorative accents. I added LED lights to one of the bookshelves (of three so far) by gluing the strip to the back perimeter to give it a nice glow at night. Looks great!

Disappointed :(

The specs detail given for this bookshelf were what made me order it. The shelf measurement being listed as: width 29.5" x depth 12".

not a quality product

As reasonably expected, all DIY furniture will have a certain level of complication and precision of manufacturing. In this case both are in abundance and cause a huge deal of complication, frustration and ultimately wasted time assembling/disassembling and returning because for this particular item mfg.'ed in China/Taiwan Hayneedle does not have individual replacement parts in stock. The bookcase came well packed; with all parts and pieces in the case and overall in good condition, and the wood components well finished. Once unpacked I noticed that the wood screws are literally to be screwed into the wood components which is always a bad sign on this type of furniture since you can't ever do this without damaging or cracking the wood since there is no guide insert in the piece. Sure enough, no matter how careful I was the screws did exactly that which required me to salvage what I could from 3 of these and return the rest. Looks good when assembled but I have low expectations this will last and certainly this was absolutely not worth the hassle.
