This is very heavy and substantial even though it is quite narrow. The finish is beautiful - very dark, almost black but with depth of color. I had a shade so I did not even open the shade box - I wish I could order without the shade. The price, on request I got from Lighting New York was much better than elsewhere and Visual Comfort seems to be a quality producer. I have bought other high end lamps and I found them to be totally overpriced for what they are. High quality

This is a beautiful lamp. I have a rather traditional home but love adding a "surprise" of a touch of modern. This lamp could be used in just about any room of your home. It is that versatile.
